Low Temperature Co-firing of Camber-free Ceramic-metal Based LED Array Package (세라믹-금속 기반 LED 어레이 패키지의 저온동시소성시 휨발생 억제 연구)

  • Ceramic-metal based high power LED array package was developed via thick film LTCC technology using a glass-ceramic insulation layer and a silver conductor patterns directly printed on the aluminum heat sink substrate. The thermal resistance measurement using thermal transient tester revealed that ceramic-metal base LED package exhibited a superior heat dissipation property to compare with the previously known packaging method such as FR-4 based MCPCB. A prototype LED package sub-module with 50 watts power rating was fabricated using a ceramic-metal base chip-on-a board technology with minimized camber deformation during heat treatment by using partially covered glass-ceramic insulation layer design onto the aluminum heat spread substrate. This modified circuit design resulted in a camber-free packaging substrate and an enhanced heat transfer property compared with conventional MCPCB package. In addition, the partially covered design provided a material cost reduction compared with the fully covered one.

  • In this study, the solar thermal and geo-source heat pump(GSHP) hybrid system for heating and cooling of Zero Energy Solar House(ZESH) was analyzed by experiment. The GSHP in this hybrid system works like as aback-up device for solar thermal system. This hybrid system was designed and installed for Zero Energy Solar House (KIER ZeSH) in Korea Institute of Energy Research. The purpose of this study is to find out that this system is optimized and operated normally for the heating load of ZeSH. The analysis was conducted as followings ; - the thermal performance of facade integrated solar collector - the on/off characteristics of solar system and GSHP - the contribution of solar thermal system. - the performance of solar thermal and ground source heat pump system respectively. - the meet of thermal load (space and water heating load). This experimental study could be useful for the optimization of this system as well as its application in house. This hybrid system could be commercialized for the green home if it is developed to a package type.

  • The characteristics of hybrid type absorption chiller are studied numerically to use a waste hot water effectively. In the case of the full load, the concentration and temperature of LiBr solution are increase about $11^{\circ}C$, 1.3% respectively at the single effect generator by hot water. As a result, the heat of the high temperature generator are decrease, so the energy can be saved. As the partial load decreased the consumption ratio of fuels are decreased and the reduction ratio of fuels are increased. The variation of COP with the inlet temperature of hot water is higher than that of the flow rate of hot water. The effect of mean temperature difference with solution and hot water of the generator are higher that of flow rate of hot water, it can effect on COP which is sensitive to heat of generator.

  • Thermally or electrically conductive filler reinforced polymer composites are extensively being developed as the demand for light weight material increases rapidly in industiral applications need good conductivity such as heat sink of the electronics or light. Carbon or ceramic materials like graphite, carbon nanotube or boron nitride are typical conductive fillers with good thermal or electical conductivity. Using these conductive fillers, the polymer composites in the market show wide range of thermal conductivity from approximately 1 W/mK to 20 W/mK, which is quite enhanced considering the thermal conductivity lower than 0.5 W/mK for most polymeric materials. The practical use of these composites, however, is yet limited to specific applications because most composites are still not conductive enough or too difficult to process, too brittle, too expensive for higher conductivity. For practical use of conductive composite, the thermal conductivity required depending on the heat releasing mode are studied first for simplified unit cooling geometry to propose thermal conductivities of the composites for reasonable cooling performance comparing with the metal heat sink as a reference. Also, as a practical design for heat sink based on polymer composite, composite and metal sheet hybrid structures are investigated for LED lamp heat sink and audio amplication module housing to find that this hybrid structure can be a good solution considering all of the cooling performance, manufacturing, mechanical performance, cost and weight.

Estimation of Pore Structure Characteristic and Permeability of Hybrid Concrete by Image Analysis Method (화상분석법을 이용한 하이브리드 콘크리트의 공극구조 특성 및 투수성 평가)

  • PURPOSES : In this study, an image analysis method is used to evaluate the pore structure characteristics and permeability of hybrid concrete. METHODS : The binder weight of hybrid concrete is set to $400kg/m^3$, $370kg/m^3$, and $350kg/m^3$, and for each value of binder weight, the pore structure and permeability of concrete mixture is evaluated. The permeability of hybrid concrete is evaluated using a rapid chloride penetration test(RCPT). RESULTS : The concrete pore structure characteristics of hybrid concrete reveals that as the binder weight is reduced, the entrained air is reduced and the entrapped air is increased. The permeability of the hybrid concrete for all values was measured to be below 1000 C, which indicates a "Very Low" level of permeability relative to the evaluation standard of KS F 2711. Additionally, as the binder weight is decreased, there is a significant increase in the permeability of chloride ions. CONCLUSIONS : In this study, the pore structure characteristics of hybrid concrete at different binder weights shows that as the binder weight is reduced, the entrained air is reduced and the entrapped air is increased. Consequently, chloride ion penetration resistance of the hybrid concrete is diminished. As a result, it is expected that this will reduce the concrete's durability.

  • Linearity is the one of the most important features for analog-optic transmission system. In our research, the available bandwidth for the feed-forward compensation circuit is enhanced by using a 180 hybrid coupler in the circuit. The bandwidth having the decreased 3rd-order intermodulation distortion(IMD3) over 10 dB is extended over 200 MHz with the center frequency of 1.6 GHz. We performed an efficient bandwith measurement for the feed-forward compensation system, which uses the network analyzer instead of the traditional measuring system that uses two RF signal generators and the spectrum analyzer. We identify the usefulness of this method from experimental results. In this study, we used cheap digital-purpose laser diodes for economical aspect, which proves the efficiency of the proposed analog system. The spurious-free dynamic range is improved about 6 dB/Hz.

  • In this paper, a K-band oscillator which is composed of a hair-pin resonator, a GaAs MESFET, and a frequency doubler, is suggested, implemented by HMIC(Hybrid Microwave Integrated Circuits) form, and characterized for its microwave performance. A $\lambda_g$/4 open stub is used in frequency doubler to suppress the fundamental frequency of 9 GHz which is the output of the hair-pin resonator oscillator and output matching network is optimized for its second harmonic freuency of 18 HGz. For the oscillator, the output power of -0.83 dBm, the fundamental frequency suppression of -23 dBc, and phase noise of -86 dBc/Hz at 18.20 GHz are obtained.

  • In this paper, To take advantage a variety of DC power as the boost DC-DC converter design specifications through the inductor L and capacitor C through PSPICE to calculate the best estimate of the value. Boost DC-DC converter with a switch device using IRF840 and reverse recovery time Schottky diodes with excellent with constant current controller using D10SC6M and resistance can be configured to considering the Power LED Module was driven by the production. Converter's switching frequency is 50 kHz, the first Duty Rate was made to increase gradually depending on the value of the detection were, 10 % in the output voltage. As a result, the simulated Boost Power LED driver characteristics is in comparison with the design specifications, 5% or less as the error was approximated. Finally, when input 15 V were offered, a stable output 24 V were obtained. and Dimming Control through the adjustment of brightness and current consumption were possible.

  • In MANET, frequent movement of nodes causes the dynamic network topology changes. Therefore the routing protocol, which is very stable to effectively respond the changes of the network changes, is required. Moreover, the existing cluster-based routing protocol, that is the hybrid approach, has routing delay due to the re-electing of the cluster header. In addition, the routing table of CBRP has all only one hop distant neighbor nodes. PCBRP, proposed in this paper, ties two clusters in one pair of clusters to make longer radius. Then the pair of the cluster headers manages and operates corresponding member nodes. When they route nodes in the paired cluster internally, PCBRP reduces the delay by requesting a route. Therefore PCBRP shows improved total delay of the network and improved performance of packet transmitting rate.

  • This paper presents a design and implementation of 3.3 kW on-board battery charger for electric vehicles or plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Considering characteristics of the electric vehicles, a series-loaded resonant dc-dc converter and frequency control scheme are adopted to improve efficiency and reliability, and to reduce volume and cost. The developed on-board battery charger is designed and implemented by using high frequency of 80-130 kHz and zero voltage switching method. The experimental result indicates 92.5% of the maximum efficiency, 5.84 liters in volume, and 5.8kg in weight through optimal hardware design.
