An Optimization Modeling Study on Coastal Patrol Killer Medium(PKM) Requirement (연안 해역 소형 함정 소요 최적화 모델링 연구)

  • This paper deals with achieving the optimal quantity of required PKMs to cover the coastal areas divided into the proper size of sectors, and then using Set Cover Model, Clustered Model, etc. It is optimized via "Requirement Optimization Process" to allocate PKMs reasonably which is considered as conducting mission deployment sectors. This "Hybrid Proper Requirement Model" accommodating the optimization process is introduced and testified by examining a requirement problem.

  • For drones to be used for industrial or agricultural applications, it is necessary to increase the payload and endurance. Currently, the payload and endurance are limited by the battery technology for electric powered drones. In addition, charging or replacing the batteries may not be a practical solution at the field that requires near continuous operation. In this paper, a procedure to optimize the power system of an electric hybrid drone that consists of an internal combustion engine, a generator, a battery, and electric motors is presented. The example drone for crop dusting is sized for easy transportation with a maximum takeoff weight of 200 kg. The two main rotors that are mechanically connected to the internal combustion engine provides most of the lift. The drone is controled by four electric motors that are driven by the generator. By analyzing the flow of the energy, a methodology to select the optimum propeller and motor among the commercially available models is described. Then, a procedure of finding the optimum operational condition along with the proper gear reduction ratios for the internal combustion engine based on the test data is presented.

  • The interest in reducing the emissions and increasing the fuel economy of ICE vehicles has prompted research on hybrid vehicles, which come in the series, parallel, and power-split types. This study focuses on the series-type hybrid electric vehicle, which has a simple structure. Because each component of a series hybrid vehicle is larger than the corresponding component of the parallel type, the sizing of the vehicle is very important. This is because the performance may be greater or less than what is required. Thus, in this research, the optimal fuel economy was determined and simulated in a real-world system. The optimal sizing was achieved based on the motor, engine/generator, and battery for 13 cycles, where DP was used. The model was developed using ASCET or a Simulink-Amisim Co-simulation platform on the rapid controller prototype, ES-1000.

Multi-DOF Real-time Hybrid Dynamic Test of a Steel Frame Structure (강 뼈대 구조물의 다자유도 실시간 하이브리드 동적 실험)

  • The hybrid test is one of the most advanced test methods to predict the structural dynamic behavior with the interaction between a physical substructure and a numerical modeling in the hybrid control system. The purpose of this study is to perform the multi-directional dynamic test of a steel frame structure with the real-time hybrid system and to evaluate the validation of the results. In this study, FEAPH, nonlinear finite element analysis program for hybrid only, was developed and the hybrid control system was optimized. The inefficient computational time was improved with a fixed number iteration method and parallel computational techniques used in FEAPH. Furthermore, the previously used data communication method and the interface between a substructure and an analysis program were simplified in the control system. As the results, the total processing time in real-time hybrid test was shortened up to 10 times of actual measured seismic period. In order to verify the accuracy and validation of the hybrid system, the linear and nonlinear dynamic tests with a steel framed structure were carried out so that the trend of displacement responses was almost in accord with the numerical results. However, the maximum displacement responses had somewhat differences due to the analysis errors in material nonlinearities and the occurrence of permanent displacements. Therefore, if the proper material model and numerical algorithms are developed, the real-time hybrid system could be used to evaluate the structural dynamic behavior and would be an effective testing method as a substitute for a shaking table test.

A New Hybrid Evolutionary Programming Technique Using Sub-populations with Different Evolutionary Behaviors and Its Application to Camera Calibration (서로 다른 진화 특성을 가지는 부집단들을 사용한 새로운 하이브리드 진화 프로그래밍 기법과 카메라 보정 응용)

  • A new hybrid technique using several sub-populations having completely different evolutionary behaviors is proposed to increase the possibility to quickly find the global optimum of continuous optimization problem. It has three sub-populations. Two NPOSA algorithms showing good performance in the problem having a rugged fitness function are applied to two sub-populations and a self-adaptive evolutionary algorithm to the other sub-population. Sub-populations evolve in different manners and the interaction among these sub-populations lead to the global optimum quickly. The efficiency of this technique is verified through benchmark test functions. Finally, the algorithm with three sub-populations has been applied to seek for the optimal camera calibration parameters. After an error function has been defined using measured feature points of a calibration block, it has been shown that the algorithm searches for the camera parameters that minimize the error function.

An Efficient Resource Optimization Method for Provisioning on Flash Memory-Based Storage (플래시 메모리 기반 저장장치에서 프로비저닝을 위한 효율적인 자원 최적화 기법)

  • Recently, resource optimization research has been actively conducted in enterprises and data centers to manage the rapid growth of big data. In particular, thin provisioning, which allocates a large number of resources compared to fixedly allocated storage resources, has the effect of reducing initial costs, but as the number of resources actually used increases, the cost effectiveness decreases and the management cost for allocating resources increases. In this paper, we propose a technique that divides the physical blocks of flash memory into single-bit cells and multi-bit cells, formats them with a hybrid technique, and manages them by dividing frequently used hot data and infrequently used cold data. The proposed technique has the advantage that the physical and allocated resources are the same, such as thick provisioning, and can be used without additional cost increase, and the underutilized resources can be managed in multi-bit cell blocks, such as thin provisioning, which can allocate more resources than typical storage devices. Finally, we estimated the resource optimization effectiveness of the proposed technique through experiments based on simulations.

Vector Control of Induction Motor Using Hybrid Controller (하이브리드 제어기를 사용한 유도전동기 벡터제어)

  • The vector control scheme is usually applied to the high performance induction motor drives. The PI controller is adopted traditionally to control the motor speed and currents in the vector control scheme. In this case, the dynamic performance of the induction motor is dependent on the PI gains and the gain optimization is necessary in order to get a good dynamic performance. But, it is very hard to optimize the PI gains uniquely within the speed control range because the equivalent model of the motor control system should be known exactly. In this paper, we propose the hybrid control scheme to remove the defects of PI controller. The hybrid control scheme includes the simplified fuzzy controller which operates in the transient state and the PI controller which operates in the steady state. The proposed scheme is applied to the vector control for induction motor, and the digital simulation and the experimental results are given to verify the proposed scheme.

  • 본 연구는 차량 경로 스케줄링 문제(VRSPTW, the Vehicle Routing and Scheduling Problem with Time Window)를 해결하기 위하여, 멀티 비용 함수(Multi Cost Function)를 갖는 개미 군집 최적화(Ant Colony Optimization)을 이용한 휴리스틱을 제안하였다. 멀티 비용 함수는 각 개미가 다음 고객 노드로 이동하기 위해 비용을 평가할 때 거리, 요구량, 각도, 시간제약에 대해 서로 다른 가중치를 반영하여 우수한 초기 경로를 구할 수 있도록 한다. 본 연구의 실험결과에서 제안된 휴리스틱이 Solomon I1 휴리스틱과 기회시간이 반영된 하이브리드 휴리스틱보다 효율적으로 최근사 해를 얻을 수 있음을 보였다.

Hybrid Main Memory based Buffer Cache Scheme by Using Characteristics of Mobile Applications (모바일 애플리케이션의 특성을 이용한 하이브리드 메모리 기반 버퍼 캐시 정책)

  • Mobile devices employ buffer cache mechanisms, just as in computer systems such as desktops or servers, to mitigate the performance gap between main memory and secondary storage. However, DRAM has a problem in that it accelerates battery consumption by performing refresh operations periodically to maintain the stored data. In this paper, we propose a novel buffer cache scheme to increase the battery lifecycle in mobile devices based on a hybrid main memory architecture consisting of DRAM and non-volatile PCM. We also suggest a new buffer cache policy that allocates buffers based on process states to optimize the performance and endurance of PCM. In particular, our algorithm allocates each page to the appropriate position corresponding to the state of the application that owns the page, and tries to ensure a rapid response of foreground applications even with a small amount of DRAM memory. The experimental results indicate that the proposed scheme reduces the elapsed time of foreground applications by 58% on average and power consumption by 23% on average without negatively impacting the performance of background applications.

  • Hybrid query processing method is used for preventing server overload that is created by heavy user connection in Web GIS. In Hybrid query processing method, both server and client participate in spatial query processing. But, Hybrid query processing method is restricted in scalability of server and it can't be fundamentally solution for server overload. So, it is necessary for Web GIS to be brought in web clustering technique. In this thesis, we propose load-balancing method that uses proximity of query region. In this paper, we create tile groups that have relation each tile in same group is very close, and forward client request to the server that can have maximum rate of buffer reuse with considering characteristic of spatial query. With out load balancing method, buffet in server is optimized for exploring spatial index tree and increase rate of buffer reuse, so it can be reduced amount of disk access and increase system performance.
