Development of Power Management Strategies for a Compound Hybrid Excavator (복합형 하이브리드 굴삭기를 위한 동력전달계 제어기법 연구)

  • This paper presents the power management strategies for a compound hybrid excavator. The compound hybrid excavator has been replaced the hydraulic swing motor to the electric swing motor. This excavator requires a proper control algorithm to regulate the energy flow between the mechanical coupling and the electric devices. The controller should improve fuel economy and maintain the super capacitor voltage within a proper range. A thermostat controller and ECMS controller are designed such that these objectives can be achieved. The thermostat controller regulates the power of the engine-assist motor on the basis of the super capacitor voltage, and the ECMS controller determines it using the real-time fuel minimization strategy based on the concept of equivalent fuel. Simulation results showed that by using the hybrid excavator, the fuel economy becomes about 20% higher than that obtained using the conventional excavator and that the ECMS controller outperforms the thermostat controller.

Distributed and Virtual Network Operations and Contents Management Based on Hybrid Research Networks (하이브리드 연구망 기반의 분산 가상형 네트워크 운영 및 리소스 정보 관리 기술 연구)

  • Hybrid network infrastructure has been deployed as the most important technology for the advanced research networking community such as Internet2, SURFnet, etc. However, further research needs to be performed in terms of feasible design and implementation of architecture for inter-domain collaborative network infrastructure, which is essential to end-to-end collaborative research based on high-end applications. In this paper, we suggest a framework for distributed and virtual network operations based on hybrid research networks and efficient cooperation between multi-domain hybrid networks, which aims to provide collaborative network environment for high-end applications. Suggested framework is designed to adopt decentralized model of multi-domain hybrid research network management. A collaborative and distributed virtual model that is characterized by cooperation among hybrid research networks that insist on maintaining their autonomy and control, can also contribute for researchers and other end-users to manage and operate their own virtual networks.

  • In this work, we conducted a study of fuel consumption characteristics and regenerative braking recovery rate by conducting an experiment using a TMED type parallel hybrid electric vehicle. As regenerative braking technology is considered essential to improve the energy efficiency of the hybrid vehicle, it is necessary to conduct research on the regenerative braking system. Therefore, the electrical characteristics, current balance, and fuel consumption were investigated using an EC type chassis dynamometer with experimental conditions as per IM240 mode. From the results, it was observed that when the initial SOC condition was lower, the engine operating time of the hybrid vehicle increased, and the energy efficiency decreased. While operating in the driving mode characteristics condition and the driving characteristics condition, the difference in the average fuel consumption was not significant. However, after completion of the experiment, there was a difference in the engine operation.

  • 초소형 공중발사체 설계 시 하이브리드 모터의 적용가능성에 대한 연구를 실시하였다. HTPB/LOX를 추진제로 하여 마차바퀴형 연료 그레인, 산화제 탱크 가압방식을 사용하였고, 성능특성을 계산하기 위하여 하이브리드 연료의 연소율이 일정하다고 가정 하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 임무는 중량 3.5kg의 나노위성을 근지점 고도 200km, 원지점 고도 1,500km의 타원궤도로 진입시키는 것을 목적으로 하는 로켓의 1단 부분에 관한 것으로 1단의 발사속도는 M=1.3, 발사고도는 12km, 연소종료 고도는 40km이다. 1단에 대한 페이로드 중량은 127.5kg이고, 속도증가분($\Delta$V)은 3,330m/s이다. 모선은 F-4E를 사용하였고 모선의 특성상 발사체의 총 중량이 1,000kg이하로 제한되고 길이와 직경이 5m${\times}$5m로 제한되나 1단에 대한 길이의 제한조건은 현재까지 명확히 정립되지 않은 상태이다. 설계과정에서의 변수는 연료 그레인 포트 개수, 초기 산화제 플럭스, 연소실 압력을 사용했고, 설계 제한조건은 추진제 중량, 평균 비추력, 평균 추력, 연소시간, 1단 길이, 직경, 연소시간이고, 이들의 범위는 모선의 특성과 초소형 공중발사체의 임무특성에 맞게 설정하였다.

  • The structure systems with non-rigid member were classified by the composition type of line and surface members. As a result of the classification, there are 1-way cable structure, cable net and radial cable net structure in the line member system. And there are pneumatic structure and suspension membrane structure in surface member system. In addition, when the line and surface members are composed together, there is the hybrid membrane system which are divided into hanging type and supported type. In this paper, the Korean terms of structure systems with non-rigid member are recommended through this classification.

  • A static var compensator using hybrid cascade 5-level PWM inverter is presented for high voltage/high power applications. The proposed system is modelled by circuit DQ transformation, and thus an equivalent circuit is obtained which reveals the important characteristics of the system and lead to the related equations. The proposed system has advantages of hybrid structure which enhances the better utilization of power semiconductor switches, that is, both high power-low frequency switch, GTO and low power-high frequency switch, IGBT can be used in the same circuit. In this paper, circuit structure and characteristics is presented and the validity of the characteristics analysis is shown through PSIM simulation.

  • This paper describes the PSIM simulator for the analysis of the series type HEV operation. The traction force of the series type HEV of which engine is electrically coupled with a traction motor is supplied from the traction motor only. The rating of each power train components, such as gear, motor, ESS, ICE/generator, is designed with the Energy-Based Modeling method and the Electrical Peaking Hybrid(ELPH) method. Under driving cycle, the designed series HEV is evaluated with the developed PSIM simulator. A comparison between the conventional braking and the regenerative braking is performed with the average motor input power. And the fuel economy analysis is carried out on the basis of the simulation results.

  • Directional ultrasonic speakers that are used to hear sound only in a specific area have been continuously researched on various improvements in terms of sound quality and cost compared to general speakers. In this paper, we propose a DSP based hybrid-type ultrasonic speaker that can be heard at the same time as a general speaker in order to compensate for the sound in the low-band range, considering that it is difficult to hear the low-band sound below 500 Hz due to the sensor characteristics of the ultrasonic speaker. In the case of the system that is implemented by simply connecting a general speaker and an ultrasonic speaker, there are issues of high cost and difficulties of control as two amplifiers are used to playback ultrasonic and general sound sources. In addition, sound quality deteriorates due to the difference in playback time between ultrasonic and general sound sources. In order to improve issues of cost, control and sound quality, we developed hybrid-type ultrasonic speaker with a DSP based amplifier that can simultaneously playback by synchronizing the general sound source with the regenerated ultrasonic sound source, in addition to implement the existing CODEC functions such as Dynamic Range Control (DRC) and Equalizer (EQ).

  • Most studies on hybrid buses are on large-sized buses and not mid-sized low-floor buses. This study uses MATLAB simulation to evaluate the fuel efficiency of such buses powered by diesel. Based on the results, a hybrid electric vehicle system is recommended for the best combination of power and gear ratio. A parallel hybrid system was selected for the hybridization, which transmits front and rear wheel power independently. The necessary power to satisfy the target performance was calculated, and the applicable capacity area was designed. Dynamic programing was used to create and optimize a component sizing algorithm, which was used to scale the capacity of each component of the power source to satisfy the design criteria. The fuel efficiency rate, optimum power source capacity, and gear ratio can be improved by converting a conventional bus into a parallel hybrid bus.
