There are various approaches to treatment for patients with fully edentulous jaw. In maxilla, it is easy to obtain sufficient stability, support, and retention with the traditional full denture method. In mandible, however, there are difficulties caused by anatomical limitations. In this case, treatment with implants can be considered. If it is difficult to place implants in posterior area, a fixed complete denture can be considered, using 4 - 5 implants anterior to mental foramen. This approach has changed in many ways, such as surgical methods and materials used, over the years. This case report compares two approaches and their changes over time, especially in the cases of mandibular fixed prostheses using implants, paired with maxillary complete denture.

Implant overdenture treatment using several solitary attachment systems on mandibular edentulous patients. Most patients with severe residual ridge resorption report significantly more problems adapting to their mandibular denture due to a lack of comfort, retention, stability and to the inability to chew and eat. Recent scientific studies carried out over the past decade have determined that the benefits of a mandibular implant overdenture are sufficient to get retention and stability. Therefore, overdenture with implants on the mandible and attachments are considered as a treatment of choice as a favorable treatment. In this cases, with consideration for jaw relation, level of bone loss, facial support and economic factor, edentulous patients with severe residual ridge resorption are rehabilitated by complete denture on maxilla and two-implants overdenture using several solitary attachment systems on mandible.

It is difficult to provide prosthodontic treatment to fully edentulous patients with severe alveolar bone resorption, because this makes patents hard to endure functional load, and to adapt to the dentures, which result in emotional stress to patients. Implant supported overdenture can be chosen to solve these problems. Among several types of them, the implant retained and tissue supported overdenture, is available to the patients of low masticatory force with the reduced cost. Attachments also can be used for increasing retention and esthetics in dentures. Especially, $Locator^{(R)}$ system needs a small vertical interarch space for restoration and is able to compensate the difference of angle between fixtures. In this study, we restored maxilla with conventional complete denture, and mandible with implant and tissue supported overdenture and $Locator^{(R)}$ system.

When restoring edentulous patients with lower complete denture, the smaller supportive and retentive area of mandible can lead to poor support and stability, denture dislodgement and pain resulting discomfort. In this situation, implant prosthesis can improve esthetics, stability and occlusal force. Whereas, patients with a upper complete denture can adjust more easier because of palate. Therefore, it is suggested to rehabilitate fully edentulous patients with lower implant-supported, upper complete denture as one of the treatment options. So, we are going to report the case and literature review about how the lower implant prosthesis opposing to upper complete denture affects the bone resorption of maxillary residual ridge.

Suction dentures enhance retention and support by forming negative pressure temporarily at the internal surface of denture base at times of swallowing and chewing because the areas surrounding the denture flanges are sealed by mobile mucosa. In this case, an 81-year-old male visited for new dentures. Considering the high expectations for retention and masticatory efficiency of dentures, fabricating complete dentures with suction dentures was planned. Preliminary impression was taken without applying pressure on retromolar pad area and diagnostic cast was fabricated. Afterwards, individual tray was made and final impression was taken, at the same time, gothic arch tracing was done to acquire centric relation and vertical dimension. Then, anatomic teeth were placed on maxilla and non-anatomic teeth were placed on mandible forming lingualized occlusion. Consequently, restoring a complete edentulous patient with complete dentures using mandibular suction denture resulted in recovering satisfying retention and function.

Soft liner is used to functional impression technique when dental stone is immediately poured after taking impression because of viscoelasticity. In this case, a 78-year-old male visited for new dentures. Due to severe resorption of mandibular edentulous ridge, functional impression taking by closed mouth technique was planned. First of all, making maxillary and mandibular provisional dentures was done, and lined by soft liner to rehabilitate pressured maxillary and mandibular edentulous ridge. After this, Functional impression was taken by closed mouth technique using provisional dentures which are transformed to healed maxillary and mandibular edentulous ridge, and final denture were fabricated using maxillary provisional denture as a reference of artificial teeth arrangement. Consequently, restoring a complete edentulous patient with taking functional impression using provisional dentures resulted in recovering satisfying retention and function.
