The fire at the pilotis parking lot shows the fire propagation paths that are propagated to the ceiling materials and insulation materials and propagated through the external walls. In addition, there is a high risk of fire caused by vehicles with high combustion loads spreading throughout the parking lot. In particular, the omission of the ceiling materials at the parking lot in recent fire cases has contributed to the spread of the fire. In this study, the combustion performance of the ceiling materials between the insulation material and the vehicle is considered to prevent fire from spreading. Based on field research, the type of ceiling material used in the piloti structure showed that SMC ceiling materials have the highest percentage. Combustion performance test (KS F ISO 5660-1) was carried out on the SMC ceiling materials and the AL ceiling materials to review the fire safety of the ceiling finish based on the field investigation. The results of the test showed that the SMC ceiling materials has a THR 28.973[MJ/㎡] and peek HRR 273.93 [kW/㎡], while the AL ceiling material has a THR 0.584[MJ/㎡] and peek HRR 15.215[kW/㎡].

The objective of this study is to propose a community facility design for the revitalization of the piloti spaces of deteriorated low-rise residential blocks. For this study, the precedent research and institutional limitations are examined. In addition, this study selected and analyzed a deteriorated low-rise residential block utilizing pilotis. Generally, in this type of residence, 8 to 10 generations live together in multi-family houses and row houses, so it is a type of housing that lacks both public space and parking places. Therefore, we attempted to improve the situation of the communities by making use of the space between the pillars and walls without infringing on the parking places. In addition, we took into consideration the design and arrangement of the piloti by evaluating the inconveniences and needs of the residents through interviews. Specifically, various modules were planned and used to transform the spaces between the pillars of the pillar type piloti structure. This study examined the possibilities offered by various materials and modules, and studied the diverse possibilities that can be offered by changing the modules.

This study proposed a BCM(Binding Column Method) that can reinforce the insufficient seismic force of piloti buildings that are not designed for seismic resistance. In addition, 4 reinforcement specimens and 1 reference specimen were manufactured for the proposed seismic reinforcement method. The effect of improving seismic performance before and after reinforcement was examined through repeated loading tests. As a result of experiment, seismic reinforcement specimen with BCM system showed hysteretic characteristics of a large ellipse with great energy dissipation ability and increased strength and stiffness, while reference specimen showed rapid reduction in strength and brittle shear failure column. In addition, it can be seen that the reinforcing effect is improved as the gap is narrow, the torque is large, and the thickness of the L-shaped steel sheet is thicker. The SC4 specimen showed the best seismic performance reinforcement effect.

There have been many instances of damage to buildings with soft stories, and it is important to consider vertically irregular buildings when evaluating the seismic performance of existing buildings. However, because conventional methods do not easily reflect vertical irregularities with sufficient accuracy, it is possible to underestimate or overestimate the seismic performance of buildings with vertical irregularities. This study aims to develop a seismic performance evaluation method for vertically irregular buildings using the stiffness-based soft story ratio (SSR), which is a parameter that represents the ratio of the demand and the capacity for displacement and refers to the ratio of displacement concentration in buildings. The seismic performance evaluation method developed in this study is compared with the conventional seismic performance evaluation method for four piloti buildings, using the first-floor column as a variable. Conventional seismic performance evaluation methods often overestimate the seismic performance for models in which vertical irregularities are maximized. However, results of the proposed seismic performance evaluation method are identical to those from a detailed evaluation for all models. Therefore, it is considered that the proposed seismic performance evaluation method can provide more precise seismic performance evaluation results than conventional methods in the case of piloti buildings, where vertical irregularities are maximized.

Recently, many apartment buildings in the shear wall system often has pilotis in the lower story to meet the architectural needs. If the lateral force resisting system consists of shear walls supported by columns and beams. the discontinuity at the lowest level with pilotis results in the vertical irregularity with strength and stiffness. So, there are needs to be considered tile analysis and design about column and beam bellow shear walls and the behavior and stress condition of structure by stiffness change being generated at shear walls. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the behavior of shear wall structures with pilotis using the floors modeled as rigid diaphragm or semi rigid diaphragm. Through analyses, after estimating values of the story drift, natural period, stress condition of shear walls and the forces of column, we inferred how the behavior of shear wall structures with pilotis was influenced by the floor stiffness.

On November 15, 2017, an earthquake($M_L5.4$) occurred in Pohang. Pohang earthquake was the second largest earthquake since earthquake was observed in Korea, but structural damage caused by earthquake was biggest. Structural damage caused by Pohang earthquake was mainly caused by schools and pilotis, above all damage to pilotis was outstanding. This is because area where pilotis structures are concentrated is located near epicenter, and seismic performance of pilotis structures is not excellent compared with general structures. In this study, described results of damage investigation and analysis of damage causes through analysis of pilotis Structures on 131 buildings that were investigated immediately after Pohang earthquake. In addition, cause of damage was analyzed through analysis of seismic wave. Investigation site was selected to Jangseong-dong, where damage occurred in large numbers. Damage level was classified into A, B, and C level by measuring residual crack width and story drift of structural members.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the seismic performance of the low-rise RC apartment buildings having piloties at ground level by using nonlinear static analysis with regards to the maximum considered and design earthquakes in Korea. To do this, the target displacement at roof was estimated according to FEMA356 (or ASCE/SEI-41), and the deformations of the critical members were compared with the failure criteria of Life Safety(LS) and Collapse Prevention(CP) given in FEMA356. The conclusions are as follows: (1) columns satisfy criteria of LS and CP, but (2) the shear wall in the longitudinal direction failed to satisfy those of both LS and CP while those in the transverse direction satisfy that of LS, but failed that of CP.

Unlike the projects that the government has implemented recently to develop new cities under the New Deal project, Saeddeul Village projects to improve the environment of the city are gaining attention. The problem has been found to be that many of the buildings in Saeddeul Village are still not earthquake-proof by using drones to review the state of the town. It also revealed that after two years of earthquakes, Pilotis structures are the most vulnerable to earthquakes. However, it is suitable for small spaces in the city because it provides parking spaces as well as residential spaces. Accordingly, the focus should be on repair and reinforcement rather than reconstruction. In this study, a concrete-based seismic design and construction method is developed in the columns of the existing pylotis structure.

Two types of piloti-type high-rise RC building structures having irregularity in the lower two stories were selected as prototypes, and nonlinear time history analysis was performed using OpenSees to verify the analysis technique and to investigate the seismic capacity of those buildings. One of the buildings studied had a symmetrical moment-resisting frame (BF), while the other had an infilled shear wall in only one of the exterior frames (ESW). A fiber model, consisting of concrete and reinforcing bar represented from the stress-strain relationship, was adapted and used to simulate the nonlinearity of members, and MVLEM (Multi Vertical Linear Element Model) was used to simulate the behavior of the wall. The analytical results simulate the behavior of piloti-type high-rise RC building structures well, including the stiffness and yield force of piloti stories, the rocking behavior of the upper structure and the variation of the axial stiffness of the column due to variation in loading condition. However, MVLEM has a limitation in simulating the abrupt increasing lateral stiffness of a wall, due to the torsional mode behavior of the building. The design force obtained from a nonlinear time history analysis was shown to be about $20{\sim}30%$ smaller than that obtained in the experiment. For this reason, further research is required to match the analytical results with real structures, in order to use nonlinear time history analysis in designing a piloti-type high-rise RC building.
This paper presents compression capacity of transfer system in pilotis subjected to axial load. Recently, transfer system is usually used in low floors of wall-typed apartments when members' sections are suddenly changed between upper walls and bottom columns. It can help transfer loads from the walls to the columns. Especially, a transfer girder system is usually used as one of transfer systems applied to a pilotis. However, the transfer girder system has low constructability and economics. Therefore, the other transfer system with transfer slab was suggested and has been studied. In this paper, to evaluate the compression capacity of transfer slab, tests were conducted on pilotis transfer slab systems subjected to axial load. First of all, two specimens were determined by FEM. The main parameter is length of the bottom columns. The lengh of the bottom columns were 40% and 50% of length of upper walls in the tranfer slab specimens. Results showed that the compression capacity of piloti transfer systems subjected to axial load was affected by length of bottom columns. The compression capacity is 52% higher than design strength for specimen with the bottom column's length of 40% of length of the upper wall and 46% for specimen with the bottom column's length of 50% of length of the upper wall.
