The nonlinearity of hemodynamic response in the somatosensory cortex was investigated with vibrotactile stimulation. The stimuli consisted of a train of 25 Hz, each tasting five different duration periods, 2 s, 4 s, 8 s 12 s, or 16 s with 20 sec periods of no vibration in a pseudo-random order. In order to understand the linearity on the change of stimulus duration for somatosensory cortex, two different tests- checking the linearity of system and finding the impulse response function from gamma-variate function were applied to analyze the hemodynamic response functions. They have produced nearly same results. The BOLD response in the somatosensory cortex Is nonlinear for stimuli of less than 8 seconds, but nearly linear for stimuli greater than 8 seconds. The amplitude, area, TTP, and FWHM as functions of the stimulus duration were calculated and showed a significant downward trend with Increasing stimulus duration for the amplitude and the area. It supports the ranges of nonlinearity are less than 8 seconds.

The fatigue damages in structural details of offshore plants can be accumulated due to various environmental loadings such as swell, wave, wind and current. It is known that load histories acting on mooring and riser systems show stationary and ergodic bimodal wide-banded process. This paper provides refined approach to obtain time signals representing stress range histories from wide-banded bimodal spectrum which consists of ideally narrow-banded and fully separated two spectrums. Variations of the probabilistic characteristics for time signals according to frequency and sampling time increments are compared with the reference data to be the probabilistic characteristics such as zero-crossing period, peak period, and irregularity factor obtained from an assumed ideal spectrum. It is proved that the sampling time increment more affects on the probabilistic characteristics than frequency increment. The fatigue damages according to the frequency and sampling time increments are also compared with the ones with minimum increment condition which are thought to be exact fatigue damage. It is concluded that the maximum sampling time increment to obtain reliable time signals should be determined that ratio of applied maximum sampling time increment and minimum period is less than approximately 0.08.

The influence of thermal treatment and cold drawing was investigated for poly(ethy1ene terephthalate) films
fabricated with various experimental conditions. Samples were elongated at room temperature under stepwise-drawing
condition with the cross-head speed kom 0.5 to 500 mrdmin in an universal tester. Stress oscillation was observed in
the stress-stnin curve of the samples heat-treatd at 50, 72 and $129^{\circ}C$ for 30 min, but it was not observed in the samples
heat-treatd at $83^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Thermal analyses of the samples were carried out in differential scanning calorimeter at
the heating rate df $10^{\circ}C$/min/min, and the glass transition temperature, crystallization peak, enthalpy of fusion and degree
of crystallinity were measured. The dynamic mechanical analyses of the samples were also carried out in a multiplefimction
internal kiction pendulum at 1 Hz with the heating rate of $1.5^{\circ}C$/min, and it was found that the elastic modulus
increases in the order of non-treated, heat-treated, and elongated samples.

The explicit finite element method is an essential tool for solving large problems with severe nonlinear characteristics, but its results can be difficult to interpret. In particular, it can be impossible to evaluate its acceleration responses because of severe discontinuity, extreme noise or aliasing. We suggest a new post-processing method for transient responses and their response spectra. We propose smoothing methods using a Gaussian kernel without in depth knowledge of the complex frequency characteristics; such methods are successfully used in the filtering of digital signals. This smoothing can be done by measuring the velocity results and monitoring the response spectra. Gaussian kernel smoothing gives a better smoothness and representation of the peak values than other approaches do. The floor response spectra can be derived using smoothed accelerations for the design.

In order to analyze the hydrodynamic forces on fish cage systems, made of frames and nettings, under waves and current, hydraulic model experiments for square type and circular type of fish cage system were carried out in a towing tank. Both cage systems consist of net cages supported by floating frames made of two concentric pipes and four weights hanging from the bottom corners of the nets. There was little difference in the hydrodynamic force on the square type of fish cage system by wave heading under regular waves and the peak frequency of the force on each cage system was in a good agreement with that of induced irregular wave. In addition, it was also observed that the circular type of cage system was more stable to the action of waves and current than the square type.

Gas Discharge Tubes (GDTs) are widely used as surge protectors for communication applications due to their small internal capacitance. In these days, however, they are mostly used in combined configurations, because the sparkover voltage required to initiate the discharge process in the GDTs and the time taken for arc formation process can be large enough to damage to sensitive circuits. For GDTs with a considerably high initial residual voltage, we should limit the peak voltage using a TVS or filter. We made a hybrid SPD circuits of common-mode type and differential-mode type with the filter using common-mode choke. Also, we applied lightning impulse voltage and ring wave voltage which frequency bandwidth are different each other and verified the characteristics of hybrid SPD circuits according to waveshapes. We describe how the applied SPDs operate in protection process steps with the actual data obtained from the residual voltage measurement at each step. The experiment results show that the surge voltage reduction with the choke coil is more effective in differential-mode circuit than in common-mode circuit.
In this work, the freestanding GaN single crystalline substrates without cracks were grown by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) and its some properties were investigated. The GaN substrate, having a current maximum size of 350 $\mu\textrm{m}$-thickness and 100$\textrm{mm}^2$ area, were obtained by HVPE growth of thick film GaN on sapphire substrate and subsequent mechanical removal of the sapphire substrate. A lattice constant of $C_o$= 5.18486 $\AA$ and a FWHM of DCXRD was 650 arcsec for the single crystalline GaN substrate. The low temperature PL spectrum consist of three excitonic emission and a deep D- A pair recombination at 1.8eV. The Raman E, (high) mode frequency was 567$cm^{-1}$ which was the same as that of strain free bulk single crystals. The Hall mobility and carrier concentration was 283$cm^3$<\ulcornerTEX>/ V.sand 1.1$\times$$10^{18}cm^{-3}$, respectively.

This paper present the multi-modal user distance estimation system using mono camera and mono microphone basically equipped with a mobile device. In case of a distance estimation method using an image, we is estimated a distance of the user through the skin color region extraction step, a noise removal step, the face and eyes region detection step. On the other hand, in case of a distance estimation method using speech, we calculates the absolute difference between the value of the sample of speech input. The largest peak value of the calculated difference value is selected and samples before and after the peak are specified as the ROI(Region of Interest). The samples specified perform FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) and calculate the magnitude of the frequency domain. Magnitude obtained is compared with the distance model to calculate the likelihood. We is estimated user distance by adding with weights in the sorted value. The result of an experiment using the multi-modal method shows more improved measurement value than that of single modality.

This paper presents a programmable RF DFT (Radio Frequency Design-for-Testability) circuit for low noise amplifiers. We have developed a new on-chip RF DFT circuit that measures RF parameters of low noise amplifier (LNA) using only DC measurements [1, 2]. This circuit is extremely useful for today's RFIC devices in a complete RF transceiver environment. The DFT circuit contains test amplifier with programmable capacitor banks and RF peak detectors. The test circuit utilizes output DC voltage measurements and these measured values are translated into the LNA specifications such as input impedance and gain using the mathematical equations. Our on-chip DFT circuit can be self programmed for 1.8GHz, 2.4GHz and 5.25GHz low noise amplifiers for GSM, Bluetooth and IEEE802.11g standards. The circuit is simple and inexpensive.

Our aim was to simulate ocean waves in a small-size wave flume and observe the motion of a cylindrical floating body placed in an offshore environment. To precisely visualize the oscillation of the body, a set of light-emitting diode illuminators and high-speed charge-coupled device camera were installed in the flume. Spectral analysis was performed of the movement of the floating body. The wave generator and absorbers worked well to simulate stable regular waves. As the period of the oncoming waves changed, the movement of the floating body substantially differed when tethered to a tension-leg mooring cable. In particular, when connected to the tension-leg mooring cable, the natural frequency of the floating body suddenly appeared at 0.391 Hz as the wave period was increased.
