A Study on the Social Implication and Reflection on the Disaster in the Film - focusing on 'The Host' (영화 속 재난에 나타난 사회적 함의와 그 성찰 -<괴물>을 중심으로-)

  • The Study on the Film, as the one of the main fields in the cultural studies, has the significant meaning in analyzing our society in that culture represents the realities of the present society. Film is the metaphorically expressed text and the specific space where a variety of discourses cross. The director's social consciousness projected in the film must have the ultimate significance through the dialectic relation between the intention of the director and the interpretation of the audience, not through the his one-sided message to the audience. This paper focuses on the analysis of the movie 'The Host', which is evaluated to show the meaningful social phenomena related to 'disaster' among the recent movies in Korea. The Host which is characteristic of 'the open structure' can be referred to as the film reflecting the imperial order prevalent in the colonial society.

Clinical Experiences of the Orbital Tumors (안와종양의 임상경험)

  • The authors reviewed 95 cases(46 men and 49 women) of the orbital tumors diagnosed histopathologically at the Department of Ophthalmology, Yeungnam University Hospital from March 1984 through August 1994. Seventy-five cases of benign tumors were found evenly in all decades, but twenty cases of malignant tumors were noticed more frequently in 1st, 6th, and 7th decades. The frequency of benign orbital tumors was in this order; dermolipoma(21%, 20 cases), dermoid cyst(11.6%, 11 cases), mucocele(8.4%, 8 cases), lipoma(7.4%, 7 cases) and pleomorphic adenoma(5.3%, 5 cases). Of malignant orbital tumors, the frequency was in this order; retinoblastoma(3 cases), malignant melanoma(2 cases), sebaceous carcinoma(2 cases), and maxillary sinus carcinoma(2 cases). Malignant orbital tumors of 8 expired patients were revealed as secondary or metastatic tumors.

  • Recently, ship collision accidents account for $20\%\∼30\%$ of domestic marine accidents, also have increased continually. In this paper, therefore we propose the development of Ship Collision Avoidance Support program for decreasing ship collision accidents. This program has been developed on the basis of CCAS-Model. A CCAS-Model has ship's maneuvering performance and has studied for the propose of supporting to avoid ship collision in close quarters. Besides, the program will effectively support maneuvering for collision avoidance through displaying the feasible area and the method of collision avoidance using own ship's turning characteristic about action of target ship's keeping course and velocity in various encounter.

  • A reward of the work which used physical computing in fields artistic modern installation is becoming large. But the example that used a robot cannot try to easily look it up on a tool of the drawing which isn't robot use for interaction. I will mention it about a user and a drawing system design and the developmental process which I can communicate with at these papers. I used a Mindstorm NXT system to have been said in Lego companies in the robot which composed working environment, and I classified it to virtual environments that I forecasted environmental actual drawing this, and I did simulate. I used an Icommand library to control a NXT system, and drawing used a processing library in actual environments for the purpose of in order to to express to virtual environment. I got image information, and I expressed to a vector method SVG file to bases for line drawing. This system can have already made it according to demand of a user as real-time communication is possible by bluetooth working together. These figures can work to one performance not being stopping to the results of already in processes doing drawing.

  • A regular aperture occurs between persons controlled and a person governing the society according to national formation and development. A ruler is subdivided into a king, the President, or the highest controller who can feel the uncertainty of ruler's position. To protect those people, it is called guard that used all possible means and ways to protect those people or remove the danger. An opening of guard was related to enhancement of royal authority or centralism. Firstly a military organization had acted for this, but the organization gradually became independent according to it's subdivision and systematization. During the period of the Three States and Unified Silla, the guard was needed new management system by enhancement of royal authority, expansion of the territory, and establishment of centralism. The new management system that organized the group of vassal and Siweebu take charge of guarding the king or serving as private soldiers. In the end of Silla, as a wide range of reformation of government organization, the organization of vassal like Jungsasung and Sunkyosung that developed as not only guard the king and prince but also hold the business writing.

  • A method for estimating the effectiveness of each protective action against a nuclear accident has been proposed using the fuzzy set theory. In most of the existing countermeasure models in actions under radiological emergencies, the large variety of possible features is simplified by a number of rough assumptions. During this simplification procedure, a lot of information is lost which results in much uncertainty concerning the output of the countermeasure model. Furthermore, different assumptions should be used for different sites to consider the site specific conditions. Tn this study, the diversity of each variable related to protective action has been modelled by the linguistic variable. The effectiveness of sheltering and evacuation has been estimated using the proposed method. The potential advantage of the proposed method is in reducing the loss of information by incorporating the opinions of experts and by introducing the linguistic variables which represent the site specific conditions.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a software education program using micro:bit based on the ADDIE development model and to analyze the effects of the development of creativity of elementary school students. The education program was developed based on the results of the pre-demand analysis conducted on 40 elementary school teachers in Jeju. In order to verify the effectiveness of the developed education program, 42 students who participated in the education donation program conducted by ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$ University were enrolled in 24 hours for 7 days for 6 days. The results of the analysis show that the software education program developed in this study has positive effects on the creativity factors by improving the programming ability of elementary school students.

Physiological Fuzzy Single Layer Learning Algorithm for Image Recognition (영상 인식을 위한 생리학적 퍼지 단층 학습 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, a new fuzzy single layer learning algorithm is proposed, which shows improved learning time and convergence property than that of the conventional fuzzy single layer perceptron algorithms. First, we investigate the structure of physiological neurons of the nervous system and propose new neuron structures based on fuzzy logic. And by using the proposed fuzzy neuron structures, the model and learning algorithm of Physiological Fuzzy Single Layer Perceptron(P-FSLP) are proposed. For the evaluation of performance of the P-FSLP algorithm, we applied the conventional fuzzy single layer perceptron algorithms and the P-FSLP algorithm to three experiments including Exclusive OR problem, the 3-bit parity bit problem and the recognition of car licence plates, which is an application of image recognition, and evaluated the performance of the algorithms. The experimentation results showed that the proposed P-FSLP algorithm reduces the possibility of local minima more than the conventional fuzzy single layer perceptrons do, and enhances the time and convergence for learning. Furthermore, we found that the P-FSLP algorithm has the great capability for image recognition applications.

  • In the digital age, children can express their ideas in both physical and digital environments. Electronic textile or e-textiles with Lilypad Arduino provides children with opportunities to explore design ideas and to realize their imagination into physical artefacts. This study aims to analyze the nature of activities and perceptions among 16 children in fifth and sixth grade in a primary school in Seoul who participated in the 12-week e-textile project. To this end, two teachers who taught the class evaluated student-created artefacts from technical, critical, creative and ethical perspectives, and interviewed seven students to extract concrete experiences. The contribution of this study is that it offers a case study of how e-textile programs integrating arts and technology can be implemented in primary school settings and provides implications for future research directions.

  • The ability of computational thinking is a key competence that person of talent in the future should keep. Computational thinking is a serial process in which a problem is defined in context of computing, stages of abstraction are processed in order to find the efficient solution, the most appropriate process and resources for a solution are selected and combined through algorithms which use various concepts, principles and methods for automatic implementation of abstract concepts. It needs appropriate learning content in stage of elementary school. This study has verified the effect it made on improvement of learner's creative personality by developing and applying the educational content for software education based on the integrative production. The result of study confirmed that learning through the educational content for software education based on the integrative production affects improvement on learner's creativity positively and suggested a method of applying it to computing education in elementary school.
