  • 오버레이 멀티캐스트는 IP 멀티캐스트의 대안으로 많은 관심을 받아 왔다. 본 논문에서는 오버레이 멀티캐스트에서 각 단말의 특성에 따라 적응적으로 멀티미디어를 전송하는 기법을 연구하였다. 데이터 기반으로 컨텐츠를 전달하는 피어-투-피어 형태의 전송 구조를 사용하여 각 단말이 네트웍 특성에 따라 데이터를 요청하는 형태로 구성되었다. 이웃 노드 선택, 버퍼 맵 교환, 필요한 데이터를 전송 요청하는 과정으로 구성되는 피어-투-피어 형태의 전송 구조에서 적응적인 멀티미디어 전송을 지원하기 위하여 전략적 세그먼테이션을 통한 버퍼 맵 교환, Fine-grained 적응 스케줄러를 통한 데이터 교환을 제안하였다. 본 연구에서 적용된 기법의 특성을 분석하기 위하여 정성적인 분석 모델을 제시하고 이를 통해 결론을 도출하였다.

A Peer Load Balancing Method for P2P-assisted DASH Systems (P2P 통신 병용 DASH 시스템의 피어 부하 분산 방안 연구)

  • Currently media consumption over fixed/mobile Internet is mostly conducted by adaptive media streaming technology such as DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP), which is an ISO/IEC MPEG (Moving Picture Experts Group) standard, or some other technologies similar to DASH. All these heavily depend on the HTTP caches that ISPs (Internet Service Providers) are obliged to provide sufficiently to make sure fast enough Web services. As a result, as the number of media streaming users increases, ISPs' burden for HTTP cache has been greatly increased rather than CDN (Content Delivery Network) providers' server burden. Hence ISPs charge traffic cost to CDN providers to compensate for the increased cost of HTTP caches. Recently in order to reduce the traffic cost of CDN providers, P2P (Peer-to-Peer)-assisted DASH system was proposed and a peer selection algorithm that maximally reduces CDN provides' traffic cost was investigated for this system. This algorithm, however, tends to concentrate the burden upon the selected peer. This paper proposes a new peer selection algorithm that distributes the burden among multiple peers while maintaining the proper reduction level of the CDN providers' cost. Through implementation of the new algorithm in a Web-based media streaming system using WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) standard APIs, it demonstrates its effectiveness with experimental results.

Enhanced Peer-to-Peer Streaming Protocol to Provide The Selective VoD Service in Live Streaming Session (스트리밍 세션에서 선택적 VoD 서비스 제공을 위한 향상된 피어-투-피어 스트리밍 프로토콜)

  • We propose a method to provide a selective VoD service during live streaming sessions. In the proposed method, each peer joined the live streaming session receives video stream packets with P2P manner and stores the packets to provide a VoD service. To mitigate the overhead of each peer node to store the video stream packets, the proposed scheme categorizes peers into three different groups based on their link types. To increase data gathering speed and reduce the network load, we also proposes the P2P transmission scheme within the same AP network for the peers with Wi-Fi link. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we implement computer simulator using NS-3. Simulation results show that the proposed method reduces the overhead about 66% and increases the P2P data gathering speed about 50% compared to the conventional schemes.

A hierarchical overlay structure for video transmission in P2P cloud storage systems (P2P 클라우드 스토리지에서 비디오 전송을 위한 계층적 오버레이 구조)

  • To address the problems caused by such high installation and maintenance cost in the conventional server-based cloud systems, researches on P2P cloud storages have been conducted recently. In this paper, we propose a hierachical overlay structure that can improve the playback quality in P2P cloud storage systems for video transmission. In this structure, after we make groups by clustering the participating peers based on their similarities, we construct subgroups by geographically dividing the peers belonging to a specific group considering the physical proximities among them. Therefore, when a request for video playback is issued, we can minimize the transmission delay by selecting the source peers depending on their locality. By simulations, we show that our proposed hierarchical overlay structure considering the peers' locality outperforms the structure where source peers are selected randomly.

  • 기존의 인폼드 검색 모델에서 자원 보유 피어의 검색 결과는 검색 과정에서 선택된 피어들 각각의 라우팅 결정 정보로 저장되는데, 자원 적중률에 따라 다음 피어를 선택할 때 주요 결정 요인으로 작용한다. 이러한 라우팅 결정 정보를 이용하여 검색 트래픽과 검색 성공률 등의 측면에서 기존의 Random Walks 등에 비해 효과적인 성능 평가 결과를 보인 LTO(Leveled The Orienteering) 검색 알고리즘은 검색 과정에서의 라우팅 경로가 편중되어 있어 해당 노드들에 검색 부하 집중 경향을 보인다. 이에 본 논문에서는 검색 적중 빈도에 다라 LTO 검색 알고리즘이 검색 과정상에서 라우트 대상 노드들의 성능을 고려한 적응적 P2P 검색 알고리즘으로 확장 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘의 성능 평가 결과 노드들의 검색 부하 집중률과 자원 검색 노드의 검색 성공률 측면에서 적절한 타협점에서 동작함을 확인하였다.

  • BitTorrent는 파일 공유를 위하여 가장 널리 사용되고 있는 P2P (Peer to Peer)프로토콜로서, Mesh-Pull 구조를 채용하여 라이브 스트리밍에 대한 연구가 꾸준히 이루어지고 있다. BitTorrent에서는 Peer Wire Protocol을 사용하여 피어들간에 파일조각들을 교환하게 되는데, 이를 위하여 주기적으로 버퍼맵 정보를 HAVE 메시지를 사용하여 브로드캐스트 하는데, 피어의 수가 증가할수록 이로 인한 시그널링 오버헤드가 크게 증가하는 문제를 갖고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제를 극복하고 라이브 스트리밍의 성능을 개선하기 위하여 HAVE 메시지를 선택적으로 전송하는 방법을 제안한다. 실험을 통하여, 제안 방식은 기존의 BitTorrent 기반 Mesh-Pull 구조를 채용하는 라이브 스트리밍 방식과 비교하여 HAVE 메시지의 브로드캐스트로 인한 시그널링 오버헤드를 비약적으로 줄일 수 있음을 보였다.

A Distributed Method for Constructing a P2P Overlay Multicast Network using Computational Intelligence (지능적 계산법을 이용한 분산적 P2P 오버레이 멀티케스트 네트워크 구성 기법)

  • In this paper, we propose a method that can construct efficiently a P2P overlay multicast network composed of many heterogeneous peers in communication bandwidth, processing power and a storage size by selecting a peer in a distributed fashion using an ant-colony theory that is one of the computational intelligence methods. The proposed method considers not only the capacity of a peer but also the number of children peers supported by the peer and the hop distance between a multicast source and the peer when selecting a parent peer of a newly joining node. Thus, an P2P multicast overlay network is constructed efficiently in that the distances between a multicast source and peers are maintained small. In addition, the proposed method works in a distributed fashion in that peers use their local information to find a parent node. Thus, compared to a centralized method where a centralized server maintains and controls the overlay construction process, the proposed method scales well. Through simulations, we show that, by making a few high capacity peers support a lot of low capacity peers, the proposed method can maintain the size of overlay network small even there are a few thousands of peers in the network.

An Efficient Peer-to-Peer Web Caching Model with the Dynamic Participation of Peers (네트워크 동적 참여 기반의 효율적인 피어-투-피어 웹 캐슁 모델)

  • A peer-to-peer web caching has been studied recently as it can reduce the traffic converged on the server side and can support the traditional web caching model. Although the peer-to-peer web caching has the merit of having additional cache space from the local caches of peers without additional infrastructure, several constraints such as dynamic participation and local caching strategy caused by the autonomy of peers in peer-to-peer networks nay limit the performance of the peer-to-peer web caching. To overcome these limitations, we propose an efficient directory-based peer-to-peer web caching system under dynamic participation of peers. In the proposed caching system, we present new peer selection and replica management schemes by introducing the concept of the object lifetime in P2P networks. We evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system through trace-driven simulations with a web log dataset. Simulation results show that the proposed system has higher accuracy and fewer redirection failures than the conventional directory-based P2P web caching system in feasible peer-to-peer networks.

Efficient Migration of Service Agent in P-Grid Environments based-on Mobile Agent (이동에이전트 기반의 P-그리드 환경에서 서비스 에이전트의 효율적인 이주기법)

  • This paper describes the efficient peer-to-peer migration method of Grid service agent on the mobile agent based P-Grid. The migration mechanism for transmitting service agent upon the service request is based on the peer's logic network topology. The network topologies that this system uses are organized as star topology, ring topology and tree topology, and agents are migrated by the master/slave method and serial/parallel method. The migration method of services is chosen based on the execution range and characteristic of the requested service. Also, the entire execution time of service is affected by the performance of peer that is a part of network topology, and the migration order, Therefore, the system monitors the performance of peers, and determines the migration priority based on analyzing and learning history. The system can reduce service execution time efficiently with decisions of migration method for service agent and priority of peers.

  • In the P2P distributed system, such peers don't always keep on-line status. P2P systems are different from the ordinary systems that such peers are organically operated as the elements of system. In this case, users using P2P system are able to loss the reliability. At this point, many P2P studies are tried to resolve these problems. In this paper, we suggest a P2P search algorithm for multidirectional processing about the resources to be downloading. In existing studies, the loading rate is very high to select new resources supported peer, so we suggest new solution in this study.
