Users of passenger ships and cruise ships are rapidly increasing year by year, and the needs of the floating architecture are newly come out. But the studies about the passengers' safety and the countermeasures against incidents on board the ships are rare, although the ships' incidents are occurred averagely 15 cases per year during last 10 years. For the purposes of the analysis of the safety consciousness and gathering the some of input data for evacuation simulation for Korean passengers on board ships, this study performed surveys targeting ordinary 394 passengers who are not specially trained and/or accustomed with onboard living conditions. The results are the followings. The reliability on ships' safety is surveyed as 32.3%. Only 14.6% of respondents are aware that there were safety education on board ship during sailing. And 42.2% and 40.9% of respondents answered that they saw the map of emergency routes and knew where the life boats are, respectively. And 73.3% select crews' direct or in-direct(like announcement by indoor broadcasting system) guidances as the most effective evacuation method.
Recently, the number of child care facility and social demand for high quality child care service increase suddenly. Especially, social atmosphere about fire safety is more sensitive in Korea. The majority of the residents in a child care facility are composed of early childhood having difficulty to evacuate, and therefore the number of stories of a building and the appropriateness of a evacuation equipment play an important role in the evacuation safety. In this study, problems and improvements for the evacuation safety are dealt with the present conditions of child care facilities, the comparative analysis between domestic and foreign standards, the research on the actual condition of evacuation equipments, and so on. The study brings to a conclusion that it is necessary to systematize the regulations regarding fire safety, to connect fire-fighting facilities for design standards and operations of emergency preparation equipments, to improve the regulations for fire protection system such as the sprinkler system, and to restrict the facilities having fire hazards.

Korea faces The 2014 Incheon Asian Games and 2018 Pyungchang Winter Olympics. It is imperative to hold a safe event for the economic benefits, enhancing Korea's image, social integration, national harmony and unity in order to be evaluated as a successful international event. Furthermore, since the international event tends to draw many spectators, the host country must be ready to accommodate a large number of injured people in the event of an accident or terror attack. As stadiums for international events are where a large number of spectators gather in, a large refuge is essential, when dangerous situations happen. In this study, evacuation simulation was conducted using three scenarios in order to predict escape behaviors of spectators during the large escape by destruction of safety systems of stadiums and assess escape safety. As the result, the following results and proposals were extracted. Firstly, it is considered that dangerous situations during the security of stadiums should be predicted in advance and concrete plans for a large refuge of spectators have to be established to minimize damage. Secondly, it was found that the reduction in evacuation exits has an important impact on evacuation in an emergency situation. It implies that securing escape exits are quite important. Thirdly, there were areas where spectators stayed, due to blocked escape exits, while they were dispersed and concentrated at once. It demonstrates that security plans considering properties of facilities are required to solve these problems.

Purpose: The goal of this research is to create a numerical analytic database that may assist fire prevention managers and building officials in prioritizing items that need to be addressed in order to improve evacuation safety performance while working within a constrained budget and time frame. Method: It was carried out utilizing the CFD Tool, a quantitative evaluation approach, to assess evacuation safety. One direct staircase-type apartment houses and one corridor-type apartment were chosen to make it. Result: In the fire compartment category, Apartment A's evacuation time was around 130 percent longer than that of sprinkler facilities. Conclusion: Fire prevention managers and building officials feel that starting with a single level and implementing "dwelling unit separations" will increase evacuation safety, and that maintaining fire compartments and sprinkler systems at all times will be effective. Because of the limited characteristics of smoke propagation in corridor-type apartments compared to direct staircase-type flats, it is thought that fire extinguishing equipment should be addressed.
As high-rise Apartment buildings increase the importance of fire prevention and escape performance. While these buildings provide dwellers with much more houses, they have the basic escape safety problem in their apartment buildings. In these respect, this study aims to present the Principles of Fire protection for the escape performance of apartment buildings. This study reviews basic theories of escape in apartment buildings. I figure out the characteristics of the fires in apartment buildings by case studying the fire in the apartment buildings, and find out the existing problems for escape performance and fire prevention by surveying. In this study, the major findings are as follows: The planning method should be based on the escape performance. In the planning stage, fire safety should be considered more seriously than law and economic factors.
Emergency response of fire prevention manager has an effect on decisive emergency exit behavior of customer who is not accustomed to emergency response in a large-scale shopping department on fire. Especially enclosed stairways in a large scale store are usually located in back space where is impossible for customer to access. Therefore, speedy emergency exit inducement by fire prevention manager is needed for the customer's safe egress. The object of study is to analyse the factors affecting egress behavior and emergency response of fire prevention manager in respect of fire prevention management.

Unlike cases of fire on land where experienced fireman and various fire fighting equipment are present, onboard fires need to be independently extinguished, making it a complex process. The primal objective of getting quick control of a fire is to prevent casualties which generally occur from inhalation of toxic fumes rather than the fire itself. However, if for some inevitable reason the fire cannot be contained, everyone in that particular area must evacuate to avoid any possible casualties. In this research, through a simulation of the CFD, we will observe the soot density concentration which affects evacuation within an onboard fire in relation to the possible evacuation time to conclude a time zone for a safe exit.
As the Performance Based Fire Protection Design is legislated, studies on a fire and evacuation are actively in progress. The Performance Based Fire Protection Design should be developed toward enlarging the Life safety. In addition, the Performance Based Fire Protection Design shall not merely review the aspects of fire fighting but it shall also include regulations pertaining to evacuation stipulated in laws and regulations for buildings. This study performed an evacuation time prediction based on OO Night Club, one of the multiplex use facilities located in Gwang-ju Metropolitan City in order to suggest as a referential data for the Performance Based Fire Protection Design implementation. To do this, I investigated domestic and foreign regulations and research papers related to evacuation and went to visit the actual site and collected materials. The collected data was then used as ones to input in Simulex, an evacuation program to measure evacuation time. The collected data was then used as data to input in Simulex, an evacuation program to measure evacuation time. Through this particular research and results, the study was able to suggest a few concerning areas.

Evacuation fire doors were manufactured by applying phosphorescent paint to the whole fire door whose performance was already recognized, and applying heat sensitive paint around the grip. The facility was improved by the evacuation and safety functions on the fire door, which has been used as only a fire facility, and the fire door is also used as an evacuation facility. The brilliance of the evacuation safety fire door manufactured in this study passed the brilliance test of Korea Fire Institute with a performance more than the brilliance (7mcd after 60 minutes) of the existing inducement sign. During a fire, the visible area is larger than the evacuation door inducement, etc. and light preventive status in the lower part of the fire door was observed during the descent of smoke. Therefore, it is considered to extend the evacuation effective time of evacuators. In heat sensitive paint applied around the grip, a color change is observed on the fire door when approaching a certain temperature ($70^{\circ}C$). Therefore, the first disaster that evacuators can encounter on the grip of a fire door during a fire can be prevented and should be helpful in recognizing the backfiring possibility and preventing safety accidents for firefighters who must enter a fire space.
