A Study on Fireproofing Application by Fire Magnitude (화재규모에 따른 화학공장의 내화구조 적용에 대한 연구)

  • Interest in fire prevention/fighting has been increased by large fire. It is important to install/manage the detector, alarm, firefighting facility, evacuation route and so on to minimize the damage from fire. Chemical plant is generally constructed by steel structure. So fireproofing is significantly required to chemical plant because steel structure should endure during fire. Currently, fireproofing should be applied up to 6m from ground by local regulation. But chemical plant can handle the large amount of flammable materials or only non-flammable materials. Required of fireproofing height by fire magnitude is studied in this thesis.

  • 국내의 경우 소방시설을 설치하여야 할 소방대상물과 그 설치 및 유지에 관한 기준은 소방법에서 정하고 있으며, 그 내용은 표 1과 같다. 지하철과 같은 궤도차량용 터널인 경우 소방법 상의 시설물에 대한 규정을 두고 있지 않다. 따라서 화재가 발생할 경우 피난, 구조 및 소화활동 등이 적절히 고려되지 않은 상태에서 팬의 제원과 성능이 결정되고 있다. 적절한 환기설비를 갖추지 않는 경우에 화재발생시 대형 인명사고가 발생할 가능성이 높다.

Numerical Simulations on Reduction of Toxic Gas Propagation at High-Rise Apartment Building Fires (계단형 공동주택 화재시 독성가스 전파 저감에 관한 수치해석적 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 이전의 연구를 통해 계단형 공동주택 화재 시 재실자 피난특성 및 연기거동에 관한 연구를 실물실험을 통해 수행한 바 있으나 이때 야기된 문제점들을 적절한 방재설비를 도입함으로써 일부 해소하고자 하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이전의 연구와 동일한 대상 건물과 조건에서 수치해석을 수행하며 특히 계단실에 방재설비(배연팬 등) 설치 유 무에 따른 독성가스의 전파 특성 및 최상층까지의 도달시간등을 비교 검토하였다. 계단형 공동주택에서 층간에 배연팬이 설치되어 작동되는 경우가 배연팬이 없는 경우보다 약 45%의 CO 방출량을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 판단되지만 1층 출입구를 통해 유입되는 공기량은 배연팬이 없는 경우가 배연팬이 설치되어 작동되는 경우보다 약 23% 크기 때문에 이로 인해 제연풍속의 증가를 가져올 수도 있을 것이다.

  • The fact that the major cases of life casualties are from smoke in the fire accidents and the expected steep increase of skyscrapers, huge spaces, multiplexes and huge scaled underground spaces demand establishment of efficient smoke countermeasure. The architectural factors affecting the pressure field of building should be examined for the successful design and operation of smoke management system and the stack effect is one of the important factors. The field experiments on stack effect in stairwells of high-rise building with regard to open/close condition of door are carried out to evaluate the features of pressure applied to door between each compartments, i.e, stair, lobby and accommodation. The procedures and results of experiments are presented.

  • When a fire breaks out, it is frequent that large sized miserable death is happened by seriousness of poisonous gas and peculiarity of space because the building construction is recently more complex and diverse. So early countermeasure in preparation for evacuation escape linked directly with a loss of lives is pressing. Because escape light that mark fixing one-way of existing way is not efficiently extricated refugees from dangers when a fire breaks out, construction of system that can extricate refugees from dangers and suppress early a fire by grasping correctly fire point is required urgently. When a fire breaks out, all escape lights connected with fire sensor and reception group which have ill aiming in these point will lead people to safe emergency entrance of opposite direction of place that a fire is broken out after being calculated the direction and speed of flame and smoke. There is the purpose of my research in development of artificial intelligent directional escape light that can mark direction to most suitable pull-out and assist in early extinguishing a fire.

  • The fact that the smoke hinders evacuation and fire-fighting activities as well as becomes the major cause of life casualty emphasizes the importance of smoke control system. As one of the fire safety standards designed to secure the smoke safety, NFSC501A (Design Guide for Smoke Control System of Special Evacuation Stairwell and Lobby) has been proposed, preventing smoke from penetrating into the smoke-free escape route by raising the pressure of the smoke control zone higher than fire area. For model building of 20 stories, pressurization system was designed according to standard and pressure field of compartments in whole building induced by pressurization system was analyzed using the network model.

  • National performance-based design methods and prescribed standards for various input data not defined as separated regulation, ASET and RSET fire and evacuation simulations on the data cited by different designers. This is also directly connected reliability problems for the evacuation simulation and performance-based fire. standardizing the various input to performance-based fire and evacuation simulations of a similar risk, regardless of the experience of designer or technical skills. The performance-based targets proper fire-fighting and emergency equipment installed reasonable initial investment cost to done ensure safety.

  • Recently, the number of child care facility and social demand for high quality child care service increase suddenly. Especially, social atmosphere about fire safety is more sensitive in Korea. The majority of the residents in a child care facility are composed of early childhood having difficulty to evacuate, and therefore the number of stories of a building and the appropriateness of a evacuation equipment play an important role in the evacuation safety. In this study, problems and improvements for the evacuation safety are dealt with the present conditions of child care facilities, the comparative analysis between domestic and foreign standards, the research on the actual condition of evacuation equipments, and so on. The study brings to a conclusion that it is necessary to systematize the regulations regarding fire safety, to connect fire-fighting facilities for design standards and operations of emergency preparation equipments, to improve the regulations for fire protection system such as the sprinkler system, and to restrict the facilities having fire hazards.

Comparison of the Performance of a Smoke Control System by Pressurization (가압방식에 따른 전실제연설비의 성능 비교 연구)

  • This study compared the performance of a smoke control system in the case of a fire with that in the case of non-fire. Single-pressurization in the vestibule, single-pressurization in the stairwell, simultaneous smoke control of the stairwell and vestibule, which was the pressurization of smoke control, were assessed. The result showed that simultaneous smoke control of the stairwell and vestibule can maintain the differential pressure and is least influenced for the evacuation of evacuees. In addition, for the status of smoke control in Korea and the proper pressurization method, these results highlight the necessity of improving the current pressurization method through the survey.

  • Currently, domestic architecture has applied the building fire-fighting equipments to most buildings except conventional houses, villas and facilities, and so on. However, the use of fire-fighting equipments what are not working properly result in a human life and property damages consistently like a fire of Icheon warehouse facilities, Korea cold storage, the tragic incident of subway in Daegu and the recent issue of a fire in the high-rise efficiency apartment, etc. In this study, I'm trying to seek solutions by taking research on the actual condition of fire alarming system, fire escaping equipment, Indoor Fire Hydrant Installation.
