A study on a sequenced directed diffusion algorithm for sensor networks (센서네트워크용 Sequenced Directed Diffusion 기법 연구)

  • Advances in wireless networking, micro-fabrication and integration, and embedded microprocessors have enabled a new generation of massive-scale sensor networks. Because each sensor node is limited in size and capacity, it is very important to design a new simple and energy efficient protocol. Among conventional sensor networks' routing protocols, the directed diffusion scheme is widely blown because of its simplicity. This scheme, however, has a defect in that sending interest and exploratory data messages while setting connection paths consumes much energy because of its flooding scheme. Therefore, this paper proposes a new sensor network routing protocol, called sequenced directed diffusion with a threshold control, which compromises the conventional directed diffusion scheme's defect and offers an energy efficient routing idea. With a computer simulation, its performance is evaluated and compared to the conventional directed diffusion scheme. Numerical results show that the proposed scheme offers energy efficiency while routing packets, and resolves ill-balanced energy consumption among sensor nodes.

  • Earlier efforts on optical access concentrated on the design of PONs for the collection and distribution portion of the access network. PON architecture is very simple but it requires MAC protocol for control of upstream traffic. This paper proposes a MAC protocol for a broadband access network using an ATM Passive Optical Network supporting CBR/rtYBR, nrtYBR, UBR and ABR traffic. For the proposed MAC scheme, we present grant field format, minislot format, and bandwidth allocation algorithm. From the simulation result, we have confirmed that our proposed scheme can reduce the average cell delay in comparison to that of conventional MAC schemes.

  • In this paper, we develope the simulation model for Ethernet passive optical networks (Ethernet-PON) by using OPNET. Ethernet-PON is an emerging access network technology that provides a low-cost method of deploying optical access lines. The simulator uses a Request/Grant TDMA MAC protocol based on IEEE 802.3ah EFM. It also executes registration, ranging and dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm by exchanging control packets between OLT and ONUs. We have evaluated for success ratio of initial registration process and delay of late registration process. We also have simulated for dynamic TDMA protocol and static TDMA protocol in terms of channel utilization and queueing delay. We expect that this simulator can help to determine various parameters which are considered for designing Ethernet-PON system.

An Internet Multicast Routing Protocol with Region-based Tree Switching (지역망간의 트리전환을 이용하는 인터넷 멀티캐스트 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • We design a modified network architecture with condsidering current Internet network model and traffic characteristics, and propose EDCBT(Enhanced Dispersed Core-based Tree) multicast routing protocol, which enhances scalabity, reliability, end-to-end delay and resource utilization EDBCT adopts bidirectional dispersed shared trees and manages both of intradomain and interdomain multicast trees for a multicast group. Each regional multicast tree is estabilshed from its core router and they are interconnected by the operation between border routers on edges of each regional network. As a result, interdomain multicast tree can be easily established. We introduce a new concept named RBTS(Region-based Tree Switching), which dramatically enhances QoS and network utilization. Finally, protocol performance and the effect of core router location are evaluated with MIL3 OPNet network simulator, in terms of end-to-end delay, packet loss and throughput.

  • Recently, wireless sensor networks(WSNs) technology has been considered as one of the most critical issues in the ubiquitous computing age. The sensor nodes have limited battery power, so they should consume low energy through their operation for the long-lasting lifetime. Therefore, it is essential to use energy efficient routing protocol. For this, we propose a location-based energy-efficient routing protocol which constructs the energy efficient route by considering the quantity of Energy consumed. In addition, we propose a route reconstruction algorithm to handle the disconnection of message transmission. Finally, we show from performance analysis using TOSSIM that our protocol outperforms the existing location based routing protocols in terms of energy efficiency.

  • IP 망에서 서비스 품질을 제공하기 위한 기술로 RSVP 신호 프로토콜을 사용하는 종합 서비스 모델(Integrated Service Model)과 차등화 서비스(Differentiated Service)가 있다. 그러나, RSVP는 플로우별로 상태를 유지하고, 처리하기 때문에 거대한 네트워크에서는 확장성 문제가 고려되어야 한다. 반대로, 차등화 서비스는 클래스별로 처리하기 때문에 확장성 문제를 해결할 수 있지만, 완전한 형태의 서비스 품질을 보장하지 못한다는 단점을 가지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 RSVP의 장점과 차등화 서비스의 장점을 상호 결합하기 위한 통합 모델을 살펴보고, 경계 라우터의 각 모듈과 기능을 정의하였다. 또한, 차등화 서비스 영역에서 자원 예약 메시지를 최우선 서비스로 처리함으로써 동적인 자원 예약 프로토콜의 단점을 보완 하도록 하였다. 경계 라우터는 RSVP 메시지를 처리하는 RSVP 처리 모듈, RSVP의 자원 요청에 대응하는 차등화 서비스 클래스를 결정하는 서비스 매핑 처리 모듈, 마지막으로 패킷 우선순위에 따라 차별화된 서비스를 제공하는 차등화 서비스 처리 모듈로 구성되어 있다. 본 논문에서 제안한 자원 예약 메시지의 우선 처리 방법과 경계 라우터의 설계는 향후 IP 네트워크에서 쉽게 적용하고, 확장될 수 있으리라 사료된다.

  • As underwater environment monitoring system's interest has increased, the research is proceeding about underwater acoustic sensor network. Underwater sensor network can be applicable to many fields, such as underwater environment monitoring, underwater resource exploration, oceanic data collection, military purposes, etc. It is essential to define the PHY-MAC protocol for revitalization of the underwater acoustic sensor network which is available utilization in a variety of fields. However, underwater acoustic sensor network has to implement by consideration of underwater environmental characteristics, such as limited bandwidth, multi-path, fading, long propagation delay caused by low acoustic speed. In this paper, we define frequency of adjusted PHY protocol, network topology, MAC protocol, PHY-MAC interface, data frame format by consideration of underwater environmental characteristics. We also present system configuration of our implementation and evaluate performance based on our implementation with test in real underwater field.

  • 본 논문에서는 RFID 보다 뛰어난 보안 서비스를 제공하는 NFC의 세 가지 운영모드인 Reader/Writer 모드, Card Emulation 모드, Peer-to-Peer 모드를 살펴보고, NFC 보안 기술인 NFC-SEC에서 제공하는 Key Agreement, Key Confirmation, SSE, SCH를 분석한다. 접속 과정의 경량화를 위해서 마스터 키를 갱신하여 유지하는 프로토콜을 제안하고, 제안 프로토콜을 분석 및 평가한다.

  • MAC protocol must be necessarily used because the GPON technology has Point-to-Multipoint structure as connecting an OLT with numerous ONUs. And DBA algorithm must be used to support various services too. There are a few researches in DBA algorithm of GPON, referring the DBA algorithm of BPON which has a waste of bandwidth and the fairness problem between T-CONTs. In this paper, we proposed the BR-DBA algorithm to be able to solve the problems of DBA algorithm on BPON and designed that. As a result of evaluating the performance of BR-DBA algorithm using the NS-2 network simulator, we confirm that the problems of DBA algorithm on BPON were solved and increasing the throughput over BR-DBA algorithm.
