To approach science education for all which has been required in STS program, it is indispensable to develop variously differentiated education courses that are suitable for various students. In order to do that, we have to abstract essential items that are dealt with in common from science textbook which is regarded as the kernel of science education. Then, these items are developed by fitting for each level-STS science study models. The purpose of this study is to improve the level-based investigation competence by applying these models to various level learning. We obtained some results as the following: First, there has been a positive change for attitude to study science in part. Second, we find the materials in our life and this study is relating to science, technique and society. So we find out the fact that there is close connection between science technique and our life. And also it helps encourage to learn. Third, in the process of searching for and producing STS materials, students have a chance to study for themselves by working out self-leading research activity. Finally, students can reduce a preconception that science is difficult by encouraging attitudes to search for and make our problems in our life scientifically and the habits thinking of and understanding our daily life itself in the scientific sight.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to develop a family life education program and teaching-learning materials for building family strength, (2) to apply its program & teaching-learning materials to classrooms on the area of 'human development and family relationship' in Home Economics Education in senior high schools, (3) to provide self-directed teaching-learning materials for senior high schools' teachers and 11th-12th grade students. This study was performed according to the following procedure : (1) The area of family life education in the 7th Home Economics Education Curriculum was analyzed. (2) The students' abilities needed to acquire skills for family life were analyzed. (3) A framework for life-span family life education developed by NCFR and Adult Roles and Responsibilities Resource Guide in Utah, U.S. were reviewed and analyzed. Five units of the family life education such as 1)acquiring abilities for self management. 2)acquiring abilities for communicating, ?building family strength, acquiring abilities for crisis management, ?preparing the wise parent's roles was reconstructed. (4) In order to improve the effect of the family life education, the teaching-learning materials including lesson plans, work sheets, materials for teacher. hand outs, ppt materials. cartoons, pictures etc. were developed. The purposes of this study were to develop ICT consumer education program for the second grade middle school students using in the Home Economics and Technology class and to test the effect of this program in terms of learning the knowledge and forming the attitude to be a wise consumer. The contents of a middle school Home Economics curriculum and 10 different textbooks were analyzed. Based on these analyses 5 ICT lesson plans on consumer education were developed. The second grade middle school students as an experimental group participated in 5 ICT consumer education classes during the middle school Home Economics and Technology classes. The control group of students who had same condition with the experimental group were taught by traditional instructional methods. After experiment, the changes in knowledge and attitude to be a wise consumer of both groups were analyzed using Analysis of Covariance. The significant improvements of knowledge and attitude of it were found among the experimental group of students compared with control group of students. Thus the conclusion is that the ICT consumer education program conducted in this study was found to be more effective than traditional one in terms of learning the knowledge and forming the attitude to be a wise consumer.

The purpose of this study is to develop a STEAM program for teaching climate change through CLAMP (Climate-Leaf Analysis Multivariate Program) paleoclimate inquiry in connection with high school 'Integrated Science' subject. In order to do so, we analyzed the 2015 revised national curriculum and science textbook in terms of the PDIE instructional design model, and developed the teaching-learning materials for 10 class hours through expert panel discussion and pilot test. According to the STEAM class procedure, in the situation presentation stage, the fossil leaves were collected from the dicotyledon plants near school, and the LMA (Leaf Margin Analysis) climate inquiry activity. was presented as the learning goal. During the creative design stage, students were taught about geology and leaf fossils in the study region, and CLAMP input data (31 characteristics of morphotype and leaf architectural of fossil leaves) were given. In the emotional experience and new challenge stage, we collected leaf fossils for outdoor learning, explored paleoclimate with CLAMP method, and promoted climatic literacy in the process of discussing tendencies and causes of Cenozoic's climate change. The validity of the development program was assessed (CVI .84) as being suitable for development purpose in all items through the process of establishing reliability among expert panel. In order to apply the program to the high school, a pilot test was conducted to supplement the discrepancies and to review the suitability. The satisfaction rate of the participants was 4.48, and the program was complemented with their opinions. This study will enable high school students to have practical knowledge and reacting volition for climate change, and contribute to fostering students' climate literacy.

The informatics curriculum which was revised in 2015 presents the growth of creative and convergent talents as a main goal, and what is essential in the growth of creative and convergent talents is Computational Thinking(CT). In this study, in line with the goal of the growth of creative and convergent talents, the subject of IoT technology and liberal arts and natural sciences integration course was combined with the contents of informatics textbook, and the teaching-learning program was developed. In order to verify the effect of the developed teaching-learning program, the experimental research was conducted, and as a result of study, the mean of the experimental group was 10 points higher than that of the control group. Therefore, it could be known that there was an effect in the teaching-learning program suggested in this study. It is expected that the teaching-learning program suggested in this study can induce the learning motive and interest in SW education by directly implementing SW skill to the various fields of a real life through CT education based on Iot as well as a programing language, and improve convergent and scientific thinking through the experience of solving the problems which are blended with many subjects through liberal arts and natural sciences integration course, and designing them creatively.

Science career education is for every student as well as for students who want to become scientists. In this study, we developed and applied science career education materials using TV programs which showed successful application of science in industry and business. The effects of the programs were surveyed mainly by questionnaire on 'Science Career Orientation', which have four categories.Video materials using TV programs were effective in changing science career orientation (p<0.05) of junior high school students, but only when the teacher added some cognitive explanation on the scientific concept involved. Providing only video materials were not enough to make meaningful change on science career orientation. The results implied science career education should be linked with science teaching and learning. It also showed the possibility and the way of using informal education like TV program in science career education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze life respect-related content in the 7th to 10th grade textbooks of middle and high schools. Methods: Sixty two textbooks adopted as middle and high school textbooks were analyzed for content on life respect. Results: There were 6 categories related to life respect content in the 7th to 9th grade textbooks ("prevention of accidents and the first-aid", "mental health", "sex and health", "prevention of drug abuse, smoking and drinking", "normal life and health", and "society and health"). Content on life respect in the 10th grade textbooks was categorized as "drug abuse, smoking, drinking, and health", "sex and health", "mental health", "life science and treating human life too lightly", "normal life and health", and "society and health". Conclusion: Content on life respect attached importance to more practical issue such as prevention of violence and suicide rather than fundamental understanding about self and life. These results suggest that the content on life respect should help adolescents find their own values and meaning of life within the concept of coexistence.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the learning contents presented in high school science and in pre-service science textbooks of college of education, and to examine educational implications for pre-service science teachers by analysing their connection to each other. High school science is called as 'convergence science.' Seven high school science textbooks and eleven science textbooks related to physics, chemistry, biological science, and earth science for pre-service teachers were selected to analyse learning contents. The relationship between high school science with those of college-level science textbooks for pre-service science teachers was found when the learning contents were compared. Science textbooks for pre-service science teachers have the biggest number of learning contents on the chapter 'Energy and Environment' of high school science. About 86.6% of learning contents of high school science were introduced on textbooks on science, but pre-service teachers should learn the remainder. The part of learning contents presented in high school science textbooks was higher than the college-level for pre-service science teachers. Moreover, the part of learning contents was included in Engineering & Technology. And these required a special teacher education. Accordingly, the results suggested that learning contents for high school science should be optimized and reduced. Also, various educational programs should be developed and educational curriculum for pre-service science teachers should be revised.

The study was conducted to investigate the perception and satisfaction of nutrition education by elementary school students. Questionnaires were distributed to a total of 327 students at three elementary schools in the Ulsan area in July 2010. Fifty-two percent of the respondents were satisfied with the teaching tools/audio-visual materials for nutrition education. Compared with other lectures, 46.5% of the students responded that nutrition education was more interesting. Average scores for necessity of nutrition education was 4.02/5.00, and willingness to participate in re-education lecture was 3.80/5.00. Seventy-seven percent of students answered that they would encourage friends to participate in nutrition education. Average scores for necessity of nutrition education and willingness to participate in re-education lecture were significantly (p<0.01) higher in the student group that was satisfied with the teaching tools/audio-visual materials and lectures. Students who were satisfied with the tools/audio-visual materials and those interested in nutrition education had significantly (p<0.01) higher average scores for improved dietary habits from nutrition education contents compared to other students.

Learning efficiency can be maximized by careful matching of text features to expected reader features (i.e., linguistic and cognitive abilities, and background knowledge). The present study aims to explore whether this systematic principle is reflected in the development of science textbooks. The current study examined science textbook texts on 20 measures provided by Auto-Kohesion, a Korean language analysis tool. In addition to surface-level features (basic counts, word-related measures, syntactic complexity measures) which have been commonly used in previous text analysis studies, the present study included cohesion-related features as well (noun overlap ratios, connectives, pronouns). The main findings demonstrate that the surface measures (e.g., word and sentence length, word frequency) overall increased in complexity with grade levels, whereas the majority of the other measures, particularly cohesion-related measures, did not systematically vary across grade levels. The current results suggest that students of lower grades are expected to experience learning difficulties and lowered motivation due to the challenging texts. Textbooks are also not likely to be suitable for students of higher grades to develop the ability to process difficulty level texts required for higher education. The current study suggests that various text-related features including cohesion-related measures need to be carefully considered in the process of textbook development.
