A Scheme to Reduce the Transmission Delay for Real-Time Applications in Sensor Networks (센서 네트워크에서 실시간 응용을 위한 전송 지연 개선 기법)

  • Real-time applications in a wireless sensor network environment require real-time transmissions from sensing nodes to sink nodes. Existing congestion control mechanisms have treated congestion problems in sensor networks, but they only adjust the reporting frequency or the sending rate in intermediate nodes. They were not suitable for real-time applications from the transmission delays point of view. In this paper, we suggest a new mechanism that can reduce the transmission delay and can increase the throughput for real-time applications in sensor network. This mechanism classifies data on the real-time characteristics, processes the data maintaining the real-time characteristics prior to the other data such as the non real-time data or the data lost the real-time characteristics. A modified frame format is also proposed in order to apply the mechanism to IEEE 802.15.4 MAC layer. The simulation based on ns-2 is accomplished in order to verify the performance of the suggested scheme from transmission delay and throughput standpoints. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a better performance specifically when It applies to the real-time applications in sensor networks.

A Study on Analyzing the Features of 2019 Revised RDA (2019 개정 RDA 특징 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to analyze the characteristics of 2019 revised RDA and suggest the consideration in aspects of cataloging using the literature reviews. The following 3 things are suggested with analyzing the revised RDA. First, high quality data such as supplementing cataloging data and constructing vocabulary encoding schemes should be needed to transform bibliographic data to linked data for the semantic web. Second, MARC should be expanded to accept the new conept of LRM and linked data being reflected in revised RDA because MARC is the unique encoding format untile linked data will be transformed from MARC data. Third, the policy statement and the application profile are needed for describing resource consistently because each entity and element has own condition and option, and there are different elements for applying rules in revised RDA. Based on this study, the RDA related researches should be in progress such as exapanding BIBFRAME as well as MARC to accept the new concepts in revised RDA, and, also, reflecting and accepting RDA being able to use revised RDA rules and registries in libraries and nations that have been faced to revise their own cataloging rules.

A Study on the Criteria for Digitization of Records (기록의 디지털화 기준에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest an improvement of digitization criteria for records that can faithfully reproduce the contents and properties of original records by complementing the problems and deficiencies of "NAK 26:2018(v2.0) Digitization Criteria for records". Thus, this study proposes a technical standard improvement that should be applied to the digitization process for records not produced in the form of digital files by comparing and analyzing the criteria for digitization of records in Korea with overseas digitization criteria, guidelines, recommendations, and so on. In addition, verifying the validity on this study by interviewing experts from the record-related institutions. As a result, suggested a final improvement of criteria for digitization of records such as applying non compression-Lossless codecs, proposing appropriate resolution values for each type of records, audio channels, frame rates, scan methods, and criteria for microform types.

Development of Valuation Framework for Estimating the Market Value of Media Contents (미디어 콘텐츠의 시장가치 산정을 위한 가치평가 프레임워크 개발)

  • Since the late 20th century, there has been much effort to improve the market value of media contents which are commercialized in a digital format, by fusing digital data of video, audio, numerals, characters with IT technology together. Then by what criteria and methodologies could the market value for the drama "Sons of the Sun" or the animated film 'Frozen', often referred to in the meida, be estimated? In the circumstances there has been little or no research on the valuation framework of media contents and the status of their valuation system development to date, we propose a practical valuation models for various purposes such as contents trading, review of investment adequacy, etc., by formalizing and presenting a contents valuation framework for the four types of media of movies, online games, and broadcasting commercials, and animations. Therefore, we develope computational methods of cash flows which includes production cost by media content types, provide reference databases associated with key variables of valuation (economic life cycle, discount rates, contents contribution and royalty rates), and finally propose the valuation framework of media contents based on both income approach and relief-from-royalty method which has been applied to valuation of intangible assets so far.

Stabilization Technique for 360 VR Video Sequences (360 VR 영상용 흔들림 제거 기술)

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient stabilization algorithm for 360 VR sequence, where the geometric information and the relationship between various projection formats have been utilized. The proposed scheme consists of '1st stitching', 'extraction of wide angle picture from VR data', 'stabilization', and '2nd stitching'. The simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms the conventional algorithms in the viewpoint of image quality for end-user.

MPEG-DASH Services for 3D Contents Based on DMB AF (DMB AF 기반 3D 콘텐츠의 MPEG-DASH 서비스)

  • Recently an extension to DMB AF (Digital Multimedia Broadcasting Application Format) standard has been proposed in such a way that the extended DMB AF can include stereoscopic video and stereoscopic images for interactive service data, i.e., MPEG-4 BIFS (Binary Format for Scene) data, in addition to the existing 2D video and 2D images for BIFS services. In this paper we developed a service that provides the streaming of 3D contents in DMB AF by using MPEG-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) standard and validated it by implementing the client software.

A Licence Plate Recognition System using Hadoop (하둡을 이용한 번호판 인식 시스템)

  • Currently, a trend in image processing is high-quality and high-resolution. The size and amount of image data are increasing exponentially because of the development of information and communication technology. Thus, license plate recognition with a single processor cannot handle the increasing data. This paper proposes a number plate recognition system using a distributed processing framework, Hadoop. Using SequenceFile format in Hadoop, each mapper performs a license plate recognition with a number of image data in a data block Experimental results show that license plate recognition performance with 16 data nodes accomplishes speedup of maximum 14.7 times comparing with one data node. In large dataset, the recognition performance is robust even if the number of data nodes increases gradually.

  • Digital mapping project of topographic map was conducted according to the master plan for the development of the National Geographic Information System, to manage national geo-spatial information efficiently in rapidly changing information technology society. It needed to correct and supplement digital map because of time pressure, sudden urbanization and users'need. In this study, after the framework data of thematic map was given a definition based on data model of National Base Map, data model of topographic-cadastral map was presented. Also data format and meta data suited to presented data model of topographic-cadastral map were presented so that they could be used in various fields.

  • 본 논문에서는 대용량의 영상을 빠르고 정확하게 편집해야 하는 방송 환경에서 오픈 소스를 활용한 방송용 영상 편집 시스템과 편집 결과를 신속히 통보하는 다기능 알람 시스템에 대하여 다루었다. 디지털 방송에서 사용하는 영상은 매우 고품질이면서 동시에 매우 큰 데이터 용량을 가지고 있으며, 또 방송이라는 매체의 성격상 방송 시간에 맞춰 영상 편집을 완료해야 하는 시간적 부담이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 방송 편집 시스템은 갈수록 그 기능이 다양하고 좋은 성능을 보여주는 오픈 소스 영상 처리 소프트웨어를 활용하는 동시에, 분산 처리 시스템을 도입하여 영상의 빠른 편집 기능을 저렴한 도입 비용으로 가능하도록 하였다. 오픈 소스 영상 처리 소프트웨어는 백엔드 모듈로 동작하며, 영상의 다양한 편집 기능들, 예를 들어 영상의 구간 자르기, 붙이기, 자막넣기, 로고 넣기, 비디오/오디오 포맷 변환 등을 수행한다. 사용자 편의성을 위한 프론트엔드 시스템은 자바 기반의 프레임워크를 사용하였으며, 비디오 편집 기능 결과 및 과정에 대한 다기능 알람 기능을 첨가하여 방송 종사자들의 업무 편리를 도모하였다. 본 시스템은 기존의 고가 방송 편집 장비와 비교하여 매우 저렴하면서도 안정된 성능을 보장하여 디지털 방송 시대에 활용 가능성이 매우 높다고 할 수 있다.

  • MPEG-21의 주요 요소 중 하나인 Digital Item Adaptation(DIA)은 사용자 선호도(User Preferences) 및 터미널 능력(Terminal Capabilities)에 따라 적응 변환된 디지털 아이템(digital item)을 제공한다. 본 논문은 MPEG-21 프레임워크에서 입체 영상 디지털 아이템의 적응을 구현하는 DIA 테스트베드의 구현을 목적으로 한다. 사용자 선호도에는 입체시차 종류, 깊이 범위, 지연 영상 간격 등이 있다. 터미널 능력으로는 코덱, 입체 랜더링 포맷, 디스플레이 타입 등이 있다. 상기 기술자들은 DIA 서버로 전송되어 적응된 입체영상이 생성되머, 또한 변환된 입체영상 DI는 사용자의 요구에 따라 MPEG-2 또는 MPEG-4로 엔코딩되어 전송된다. 클라이언트는 DIA 서버에서 전송되는 입체영상 DI를 받아 디코딩 한 후 디스플레이 하게 된다. 서버의 DIA는 입체 DI의 실시간 전송을 위하여 RTP와 RTSP를 사용하여 전송한다.
