후륜 현가장치용 CTBA 튜브 프레스 성형공정 개발 (Development of the Tube Press Forming Process for the CTBA of the Rear Suspension Assembly)

  • Process design is carried out for a press forming of a CTBA in the rear suspension assembly based on the result of the finite element analysis. The analysis simulates the two-stage stamping process with the initial design and it fully reveals the unfavorable mechanism which develops inferiorities during forming. In this paper, a new design guideline is proposed to modify the process and tool shapes for a single-stage forming process. With the improved tool design, prototypes are fabricated after several try-out processes. Results of the durability tests show that the design requirement of the part is satisfied and the effective weight reduction is achieved.

형상최적화 기법을 이용한 초고강도강판 성형용 프레스 금형의 구조설계 가이드라인 (Design Guideline for Press Tool Structure of Ultra-high Strength Steel Part with Shape Optimization Technique)

  • In this paper, an effective design procedure was proposed to design the rib of die structure for auto-body member with ultra-high strength steel (UHSS) having ultimate tensile strength (UTS) of 1.5 GPa. From analysis results of the die structure, structural safety of the die was evaluated with information such as displacement and von-Mises stress. It was concluded that the casting part could be designed in order to reduce tool deformation. A design guideline of the die structure was proposed, especially for the rib structure in the casting part with an optimization scheme and local reinforcement concept. Simulation result following the design guideline fully explained that stability of the tool structure could be obtained simultaneously with weight minimization.

  • This paper resents a virtual forming system to simulate deep drawing process for stress-strain information by utilizing virtual system designed using Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and computer aided analysis (CAE) tool. The CAE tool to calculate stress, strain, and deformation is designed using Finite Element Method. Stress distributions and deformation profiles as well as the operation of forming machine can be simulated and visualized in the web. The developed system consists of three modules, input module, virtual forming machine module, and output module. The input nodule was designed using HTML and ASP. The input data for FEM calculation is directed to the forming machine module for calculation. The results from the forming machine module can be visualized through output module as well as the forming process simulation.

열유동 해석을 통한 핫프레스 포밍 금형의 냉각 성능 평가 (Evaluation of Cooling Capability of Hot Press Forming Die with Thermal CFD Simulation)

  • CFD simulation with FlowVision® is used to evaluate the capability of cooling channel in hot press forming dies. Two different types of cooling channels, dry drilled and pocket types are considered for comparison. Two different approaches for simulating cooling channel are considered. One is single-phase velocity calculation for coolant only and the other is multiphase thermal and velocity calculation for die, blank and coolant all together. Both approaches show better cooling performance in pocket type cooling channel. Also both approaches show their own effectiveness in designing cooling channel of hot press forming dies.

열간 조압연 공정에서 2단 사이징 프레스에 의한 크롭 최소화 (Minimization of Crop Length by Sizing Press in Hot Rolling Mill)

  • In this study, design methodology to determine optimal shape of the anvil in sizing press process has been proposed to minimize crop length of the AISI 1010 slab in horizontal rolling after width reduction. Shape of anvil were selected to 12 cases by design of experiment, and the dog-bone shapes and the crop length were determined by FE-analysis. Also, the anvil shape, which has minimum crop length, were determined by artificial neural network(ANN). As a result of FE-analysis, it can be seen that the crop length was increased with increasing center thickness in the dog-bone shape after width reduction. The anvil shape which has minimum crop length, was estimated to ${\theta}_{1}=21^{\circ}{\theta}_{2}=14^{\circ}$ by FE-analysis and ANN.

  • Vehicle weight reduction is a known strategy to improve fuel efficiency and strengthen exhaust gas regulation. The use of high strength steel can satisfy safety, efficiency, emission, manufacturability, durability, and cost requirements. However, springback of high strength steel results in undesired shape defects. Springback is one of the most important issues of high strength steel for many applications in an automobile. Servo press has various capabilities to improve defects, process conditions, and productivity problems when forming a high strength steel. Especially, servo press can be set to function with variable slide motion in a single operation. In this study, the effect of servo press slide motion on 980MPa high strength steel was investigated through U-bending test.

  • 최근 자동차 산업을 둘러싼 사회적, 환경적 요인은 차체 경량화를 강력희 요구하고 있다. 이를 위해서는 차체에 알루미늄 판재를 사용하는 것이 가장 효과적인 방법으로 제시되고 있다. 그러나 차체 설계 조건 및 제조기술은 오랫도안 강판을 사용하는데 적합 하도록 개발되어 왔다. 따라서 현재 사용되고 있는 강판의 대체 재로서 알루미늄 합금 판재를 사용하기 위해서는 강판과 동일한 강도를 가지면서 성형성이 요구되고 현재의 자동차 제조공정 즉 프레스 성형, 조립방법, 표면처리 기술 등에 적합한 특수 목적의 알루미늄 합금 판재의 개발이 요청되고 있다. 오늘날 알루미늄 판재 개발에 있어 적절한 합금 조성의 선택, 제조공정 뿐만 아니라 표면조성 및 형태의 조절 등에 의해 이러한 문제의 해결이 가능해지고 있고 알루미늄 압연 업체의 특수한 설계와 제조개념의 새로운 알루미늄 합금 개발을 위한 적극적인 노력이 집중되고 있어 머지않아 자동차 산업에 알루미늄 합금의 사용이 크게 늘어날 것으로 생각된다. 따라서 본 고에서는 자동차 차체용 알루미늄 합금의 개발 동향 및 차체적용을 위한 특성 및 응용기술에 대해 고찰한다.

스탬핑 프레스 금형 다이페이스 설계 해석 시스템 (Design Analysis System for Dieface of Stamping Press Dies)

  • An analysis system for evaluating the design of dieface of stamping press dies is developed. The die design analysis system interfaced with CATIA via universal or NASTRAN data format provides the design information such as binder-wrap, punch contact status, section length change ratio, wrinkle symptom etc., which are crucial in predicting the defects of initial shape of the sheet in the dieface design stage. The graphic post-processor of developed system which displays 3-dimensional shapes of tool and die and analysis results, helps the interpretation of design evaluation. The dieface design analysis system was tested in draw dies of front floor panel and quarter panel of auto-body in order to verify the usefulness and validity of the system The examples show that the developed system would be a good tool in evaluating dieface designs.

알루미늄 각재의 프레스 굽힘 변형 특성 (Characteristics of Bending Deformation in Aluminum Rectangular Bar by Press Die)

  • In the recent years, the production of light-weight products has become important because of increasing demands for the energy savings through weight reduction. Therefore the advanced manufacturing technology with Al alloy is continuously required in many industrial fields. Bending characteristics of Al rectangular tube with hollow and solid section has been analyzed by FE analysis in press bending with wing-die. Bending stress is affected by punch stroke and rotation of wing-die. There were different sectional sagging characteristics between the solid rectangle section and the hollow rectangle section.
