Rolling stocks are often subjected to the effects of natural strong wind or wind pressure caused by the crossing train. These wind pressure cause the falling-off in running stability and overturn safety. It is sometimes reported that trains are blown over by a gust of wind. So, many countries enact regulations to secure the overturn safety for wind speed. In this study, theoretical equations of overturn safety based on multi-body model are derived and analyzed the difference between the result of the solid model and that of multi-body model. In case of multi-body model, it is assumed that the degrees of freedom for carbody and bogie are assigned an independent values respectively. The results show that the latter approach based on multi-body model can access the overturn safety of train and replace the conventional method by using commercial software which is accessing with decrement of wheel load.

A buffeting analysis is utilized for the estimation of aerodynamic vulnerability of a cable-stayed bridge due to upcoming wind turbulences. The buffeting analysis requires several input parameters such as structural parameters, aerodynamic parameters, and aero-elastic parameters. This study is motivated to estimate the sensitivity of these parameters on buffeting responses. The Seohae bridge is selected as an example bridge. The investigated parameters consist of the inclination of lift and drag coefficient of stiffening girder section, exponential decay factors of span-wise distributed wind turbulences, roughness length, spectra of wind velocity fluctuation, and structural damping. The buffeting response showed high dependency on the input parameters. As conclusions, the importance of parameter selection is emphasized. A further study is also proposed for more general conclusions.

(2)The population of immigranted BPH was in the field much more overthe mountain near coast than other places . Biotype composition showed that biotype I was on the decrease and biotype II, III were on the increase (3)The bionomical characters were variable, for climatic conditions,that egg stage, nymphal stage and adult stafe of immigranted BPHwere 9-12days, 13-16days and 12-36days respectively, that hatchability(%) and emergence rate ( % ) were higher than 80%. The adult Longevity in female and macropterous BPH showed Longerthan that of male and brachypterous respectively. (4) The distance of nymphs and brachypterous adults move by walking was within 16cm over the water surface, by hopping was within 20cm horizontally.

In order to grasp the characteristics of a fishing ground at yeosu bay, the fluctuation in condition of the coast and that in catch by pound nets in the coast were investigated respectively. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. The water temperature in spring and summer was higher at the coast side than off shore, but in autumn and winter took the reverse. 2. The salinity was higher in spring and winter than in summer and autumn. A lower salinity zone was found at the Dolsan Do coast and higher ones were made off shore. 3. A eddy current was found at the Dolsan Do coast and a thermocline were made at the depth of 30 to 40 m in summer. But in autumn and winter the water became homogeneous. 4. The annual catch by the pound net was highest in 1984 and then decreased gradually. The monthly catch was highest in June and then decreased gradually. 5. The catches seemed to increase with the sea water temperature and salinity, and great catch was shown in 21$^{\circ}C$ to 27$^{\circ}C$ and 33.80% to 34.00%. 6. The component rate of fishes was 28.4% in spanish mackerel, 17.9% in anchovy, 19.5% in horse mackerel, 21.0% in sardine, 7.2% in hairtail, and 1% in common mackerel. 7. The fishes appeared continuously on way of fishing operation were spanish mackerel, hairtail, Yellow talil, crab, etc. An anchovy and sardine were caught mainly from March to July or August, horese mackerel and common mackerel from May to November. but puffer, swell fish, saury and filefish were caught mainly from April to October. 8. The sum of catch was largest in June, at which the wind direction was NE to SSW, the speed below 3.2m/sec, the atmospheric pressure below 1008mb, and precipitation beyond 154mm.

Fine fuel moisture code (FFMC), a main component of forest fire weather index(FWI) in the Canadian forest fire danger rating system(CFFDRS), indicated a probability of ignition through expecting a dryness of fine fuels. According to this code, a rising of temperature and wind velocity, a decreasing of precipitation and decline of humidity in a weather condition showed a rising of a danger rate for the forest fire. In this study, we analyzed a weather condition during 5 years in Kangwon province, calculated a FFMC and examined an application of FFMC. Very low humidity and little precipitation was a characteristic during spring and fall fire season in Kangwon province. 75% of forest fires during 5 years occurred in this season and especially 90% of forest fire during fire season occurred in spring. For developing of the prediction model for a forest fire occurrence probability, we used a logistic regression function with forest fire occurrence data and classified mean FFMC during 10 days. Accuracy of a developed model was 63.6%. To improve this model, we need to deal with more meteorological data during overall seasons and to associate a meteorological condition with a forest fire occurrence with more research results.
The cooling effect of a fog cooling system has a close relationship to air flow and relative humidity in the greenhouse. From the VETH chart for cooling design, a cooling efficiency can be improved by means of increasing the air exchange rate and the amount of sprayed water. In the no shading experimental greenhouse by time control, when average air exchange rate was 0.77 times.min$^{-1}$ and spray water amount was 2,009g, inside temperature of the greenhouse was 31$^{\circ}C$ that was almost close to outside temperature and cooling efficiency was 82%. When average air exchange rate was close to temperature of the greenhouse that was no cooling and 70% shading greenhouse environment. When average air exchange rate was 2.59times.min$^{-1}$ , spray water amount was 2,009g and shading rate was 70%, inside relative humidity of the greenhouse was increased was 2,009 g and shading rate was 70%, inside relative humidity of the greenhouse was increased, but temperature was not decreased. When average air exchange rate was 2.33 times.min$^{-1}$ and spray water amount was 2,009g, inside temperature was 31.4 and at that time maximum wind speed at the air inlet of greenhouse was 1.9m.s$^{-1}$ . Since time controller sprayed amount of constant water at a given interval, some of sprayed water remained not to be evaporated, which increased relative humidity and decreased cooling efficiency. Because the shading screen prevented air flow in the greenhouse, it also caused the evaporation efficiency to be decreased. In order to increase cooling efficiency, it was necessary to study on controling by relative humidity and air circulation in the greenhouse.
The reducing effect of wind injury was investigated using several wind-break nets in Youngdeok province where cold-wind damage is often occurred during rice growing season. The white-head damage of rice have been often occurred by typhoon during the period between August 15 to September 10 in the cold wind area of the eastern coastal during the last 11 years (1979-1989). This may suggest that the critical period for heading will be by August 15 in the regions. High evaporation coefficient, more than 250 due to typhoon passage over the regions resulted high injury of white head. Generally, the wind injury have been caused by warm and dry westerlies through Fohn apperance in Taebaeg mountains and by cool-humid wind which blows from coast to inland. The frequency of occurrence of the two types of typhoons were 25, 20%, respectively during rice cultivation. The instalation of wind-break net significantly reduced the wind blowing speed, depending on the net mesher with the higher effect in dence net. The distances between the net and cropping area also affect the wind speed: 23% reduction at 1m distance. 34% at 10m and 28% at 20m, respectively. The reducing effect was also observed even at 10 times height of the wind-break net. The instalation of wind-break net gave several effects on climate factor, showing that temperature increased by 0.8$^{\circ}C$(maximum), 0.7$^{\circ}C$(minimum), 0.6$^{\circ}C$(average) : water temperatures increased by 0.5$^{\circ}C$(maximum), 0.6$^{\circ}C$(minimum), 0.5$^{\circ}C$(average) : soil temperature increased 0.4$^{\circ}C$. The earlier heading and increasing growth rate, use of light, culm length, panicle number per hill, spikelet number per panicle, fertility and 1,000 grain weight were observed in the fields with the wind-break nets resulting in 10-15% increase in rice yield using 0.5${\times}$0.5cm nets. The increasing seedlings per hill gave higher grain yield by 13% in the cold wind damage regions of eastern coastals. and the wind-break was more significant in the field without the wind-break net. Wind injury of rice plant in the cold wind regions of eastern coastals in korea could be reduced by selection of tolerant varieties to wind injury, adjustment of transplanting time, and establishment of wind-break nets.
Blue-ice area is a glacial ice field in ice sheet, ice shelf and glaciers where snow ablation and sublimation is larger than snowfall. As the blue-ice area has large influences on the meteorite concentration mechanism and ice mass balance, it is required to quantify the concentration of blue-ice. We analyzed spectral reflectance characteristics of blue-ice, snow and cloud by using MODIS images obtained over blue-ice areas in McMurdo Dry Valleys, East Antarctica, from 2007 to 2012. We then developed Normalized Difference Blue-ice Index (NDBI) algorithm which quantifies the concentration of blue-ice. Snow and cloud have a high reflectance in visible and near-infrared (NIR) bands. Reflectance of blue-ice is high in blue band, while that lowers in the NIR band. NDBI is calculated by dividing the difference of reflectance in the blue and NIR bands by the sum of reflectances in the two bands so that NDBI = (Blue-NIR)/(Blue + NIR). NDBI calculated from the MODIS images showed that the blue-ice areas have values ranging from 0.2 to 0.5, depending on the exposure and concentration of blue-ice. It is obviously different from that of snow and cloud that has values less than 0.2 or rocks with negative values. The change of NDBI values in the blue-ice area has higher correlation with snow depth ($R^2=0.699$) than wind speed ($R^2=0.012$) or air temperature ($R^2=0.278$), all measured at a meteorological station installed in McMurdo Dry Valleys. As the snow depth increased, the NDBI value decreased, which suggests that snow depth can be estimated from NDBI values over blue-ice areas. The NDBI algorithm developed in this study will be useful for various polar research fields such as meteorite exploration, analysis of ice mass balance as well as the snow depth estimation.

In an attempt to find ways of improving the quality of dried Shiitake mushroom, this study compared a conveyer-type far-infrared drying method with a traditional heated air drying method. The conveyer-type far-infrared dryer was performed at air velocity of 0.6 and 0.8 m/s under drying air temperature of 60, 70 and $80^{\circ}C$, respectively. Drying characteristics, antioxidant activities and the antioxidant compounds of Shiitake mushroom dried by far-infrared dryer were investigated. Generally, drying rate with the conveyer-type far-infrared drying method was faster than that with the traditional heated air drying method. In the conveyer type far infrared drying method, drying rates were increased with increasing temperature and air velocity. The loss of antioxidant activities during the conveyer-type far-infrared drying method at 60-0.6, 60-0.8, and $70^{\circ}C-0.6m/s$ was less than the traditional drying method. However, the loss of antioxidant activities at 70-0.8, 80-0.6, and $80^{\circ}C-0.8m/s$ was higher than that of the traditional drying method. Therefore, the conveyer type far infrared drying conditions with below $70^{\circ}C$ and 0.6 m/s air velocity may produce dried Shiitake mushroom with relatively higher antioxidant activities and antioxidant compounds.

In order to utilize effectively sea mustard(Undaria pinnatifida) which is excellent in nutrition and medical action, powdered sea mustard juice was prepared and then its chemical composition and the stability of pigments were examined. Powdered sea mustard was made by washing fresh sea mustard with tap water to remove clay and sand, blanching at $85^{\circ}C$ for 20 sec in mixing solution(3% salt+1% $MgCO_3$), hot air drying($50-55^{\circ}C$, 3 hrs) after draining and pulverizing dried sea mustard to 200mesh. And then powdered sea mustard mixtures for juice type beverage was made by adding 0.75% of salt, 1.25% of sugar, 0.2% of ascorbic acid, 0.25% of flour of roasted barley and 0.8% of pulverized sea mustard to 100ml of water. Chemical composition of product was not scarcely changed during processing while amino-nitrogen content was increased and alginic acid and ash contents were decreased. The retention of chlorophyll and total carotenoid pigments of product against fresh sea mustard were 91.6% and 89.5% respectively. Judging from sensory evaluation, color, flavor, taste and dispersibility of powdered sea mustard juice were excellent and undesirable flavor of product was masked by addition of flour of roasted barley.
