  • This study focused on alcohol fermentation properties of red ginseng extracts using Saccharomyces cerevisiae JF-Y3. Central composite design was employed to investigate the influence of red ginseng extract content ($10{\sim}50%$, v/v) and yeast extract ($0.5{\sim}2.5%$, w/v) on the properties of alcohol fermentation added with red ginseng extracts. Yeast cell growth was affected both by red ginseng extract content and yeast extract content, and red ginseng extract content had a greater effect on yeast cell number than yeast extract content. Yeast cell number increased along with decrease of the red ginseng extract content and with increase of yeast extract content. Alcohol content was maximal at 30% red ginseng extracts and 0.50% yeast extract and the predicted maximum value of alcohol content was 12.45%. Brix degree and total sugar content were significant within 1% level (p<0.01), and brix degree was affected both by red ginseng extract and yeast extract content. Total sugar content was significantly affected by red ginseng content.

  • Recently, there has been much research and many attempts to enhance converged information technology services using new technology such as ubiquitous sensor networks (USN) in medical, environmental, industrial, and logistic areas. There has also been much research and various attempts to apply this new technology to agricultural areas. However, applications to the agricultural areas should be considered differently against the same areas such as medical, environmental, industrial, and logistics. Therefore, this paper suggests that an agricultural cultivating management and traceability system. This system is a unified system that supports the processes sowing seeds through selling agricultural products to consumers. Farmers can be provided with an effective calendar for cultivation and weather information in real time as well as the monitoring of the growth of farm products on the farm in real time using this system. Farmers can also control all equipment installed on the farm directly or remotely and the equipment can be controlled automatically when the measured values such as temperature and humidity deviate from the decent criteria which are set by farmers or this system. Additionally, the reliability for and the better quality of the agricultural products can be improved because farmers can use this unified system to cover all processes from sowing seeds to selling to consumers.

  • This study aimed to develop and verify the smart human resource management (HRM) program in a large scale greenhouse. HRM program delivers detailed work orders to workers and gathers work results by mobile phone application. Greenhouse managers can monitor the workload, work speed, quality of employee by HRM program and can analyse performance easily. Greenhouse Managers can set the work speed including 'twisting', 'trimming' and 'harvesting' in a greenhouse. It makes planning work schedule and assigns resources to each specific job easier. Therefore, the manager can arrange the number of employees to promote work performance and also easy to estimate the labor shortage. Greenhouse managers can evaluate the adequacy of the number of employees through job performance analysis by period and adjusts the supply/demand ratio of regular and non-regular employees. The HRM program can improve work efficiency by announcing the real-time work performance of all employees on a monitor screen to induce competition among workers and re-educate unripe employees who accomplish behind average to improving work skills.

  • A system architecture design relying only on the experience of its designer varies in quality in line with the designer's personal experience and knowledge ability. Likewise, a wrong estimation of hardware capacity ends up in waste of resources. In practice, a range of post-hoc monitoring tools are in operation, without providing any method for estimating and reflecting the performance at an early stage of architecture design. Provided capacity requirement is estimated in advance with simulation at the stage of design, the system capacity ends up in waste of resources. In practice, a range of post-hoc monitoring tools are in operation, without providing any method for estimating and reflecting the performance at an early stage of architecture design. Provided capacity requirement is estimated in advance with simulation at the stage of design, the system performance requirement can be met with a minimal cost while the waste of resources can be reduced to a great extent. In this context, the present study develops a pilot simulation model for hardware architecture design and then verifies its validity in an experiment. If the error rate falls within a permissible range in the experiment, the simulation model may be considered to reflect well the characteristics of real-life information system architecture.

  • Recently, machine learning technology has had a significant impact on society, particularly in the medical, manufacturing, marketing, finance, broadcasting, and agricultural aspects of human lives. In this paper, we study how to apply machine learning techniques to foods, which have the greatest influence on the human survival. In the field of Smart Farm, which integrates the Internet of Things (IoT) technology into agriculture, we focus on optimizing the crop growth environment by monitoring the growth environment in real time. KT Smart Farm Solution 2.0 has adopted machine learning to optimize temperature and humidity in the greenhouse. Most existing smart farm businesses mainly focus on controlling the growth environment and improving productivity. On the other hand, in this study, we are studying how to apply machine learning with respect to harvest time so that we will be able to harvest fruits of the highest quality and ship them at an excellent cost. In order to apply machine learning techniques to the field of smart farms, it is important to acquire abundant voluminous data. Therefore, to apply accurate machine learning technology, it is necessary to continuously collect large data. Therefore, the color, value, internal temperature, and moisture of greenhouse-grown fruits are collected and secured in real time using color, weight, and temperature/humidity sensors. The proposed FPSML provides an architecture that can be used repeatedly for a similar fruit crop. It allows for a more accurate harvest time as massive data is accumulated continuously.

  • Air pollution caused by industrial development has become a level that can seriously threaten human health. In general, indoor air pollution is considered to be lower than outdoors, but modern people live indoors most of the time, thus it is essential to keep the indoor air quality comfortable in order to take care of one's own health and improve the quality of life. Therefore, the development of an indoor environment management platform using Internet of Things and data processing technology, which is currently drawing attention, is considered a very meaningful study. In this paper, we designed an IoT-based management platform that can remotely monitor and control indoor environments. In addition, the functions of the IoT terminal, gateway, and data server constituting the platform were implemented using open source and open libraries, and all functional operations were also verified. In particular, the IoT terminal and the gateway in this paper exchange data using BLE communication, so they can operate with relatively low power and since the gateway uses the BLE Advertising mode, it has the advantage of automatically recognizing IoT terminals that have not been previously configured.
