  • Animal welfare is of considerable importance to European consumers and citizens, this being most recently confirmed in EU barometer studies. Researchers and others have long proposed that animal-based measures (measures taken on animals, e.g. their health and behaviour) can provide a valid indicator of animal welfare; since welfare is a characteristic of the individual animal. Therefore, a welfare assessment can be essentially based on animal-based measures, but with use of resource measures to provide the capacity to assess 'risk factors'. The first goal of this project was to develop a welfare monitoring system that enables assessment of welfare status through standardised conversion of welfare measures into accessible and understandable information. The acquired information on one hand provides feedback to animal unit managers about the welfare status of their animals, and on the other, information on the welfare status of animal-related products for consumers and retailers. The second goal of Welfare $Quality^{(R)}$ was to improve animal welfare by minimising the occurrence of harmful behavioural and physiological states, improving human-animal relationships, and providing animals with safe and stimulating environments. The different measurable aspects of welfare to be covered are turned into welfare criteria. The criteria reflect what is meaningful to animals as understood by animal welfare science. Once all the measures have been performed on an animal unit, a bottom-up approach is followed to produce an overall assessment of animal welfare on that particular unit: first the data collected (i.e. values obtained for the different measures on the animal unit) are combined to calculate criterion-scores; then criterion-scores are combined to calculate principle-scores; and finally the animal unit is assigned to a welfare category according to the principle-scores it obtained.

  • This study examined disaster risk from climate change in urban open spaces. This study conducted an assessment depending on type of damage and type of open space, subcategorizing it into flood damage and wind damage, flat park and mountainous park, and classified the assessment items by type into natural factor, artificial factor, and social factor for the purpose of analysis. Our major findings from this study are as follows: To look at the standardized score for the disaster risk from flood damages in the case of a flat park, Asian Park was higher at 55.800 point than Seoul Forest at 51.775 point, and in the case of mountainous parks, Dogok Park was at 58.428 point and Baebongsan Park was at 58.374 point. To look at the standardized score for disaster risk from wind damage, in the case of a flat park, Asian Park was higher at 64.763 point than Seoul Forest at 61.054 point, and in the case of mountainous parks, Baebongsan Park was higher at 58.533 point than Dogok Park at 55.459 point. This study raised a question about the necessity for and value of this disaster risk assessment in open space from damages caused by climate change, established an assessment model for disaster risk from damages in open spaces only to attempt risk assessment. Disaster risk of urban green space was enhanced.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an electroencephalogram (EEG) based differential-scale for scientifically gifted students in elementary school. For this study, signals of EEG with 19 channels were recorded during the generation of our scientific hypothesis using 22 scientifically gifted students, and with 49 average students being used as the control group. IQ, TCT and knowledge generation (KG) as constructs of the scientifically gifted were administered for both the scientifically gifted and the normal, control group elementary students. A 'gifted' value was added to paper test scores of the IQ, TCT, and KG constructs in order to make a personal standardization score for the gifted students. As a dependent variable, the groups were divided by means of the standardization scores thus produced and as an autonomous variable, various EEG parameters were presented through linear analysis, nonlinear analysis, and interdependency measures of the EEG. Multiple linear regression analysis was applied successfully to explain the EEG parameters and to show the characteristics of the scientifically-gifted. The discrimination analysis was administered through the results of multiple linear regression of the EEG parameters thus produced. This study represents the foundation of the development of an EEG based discriminant-scale for scientifically gifted students in elementary school, because it will be able to faithfully discriminate between scientifically-gifted and average students. The results of this study indicates that most of the EEG parameters produced can contribute to predicting the characteristics of the scientifically-gifted in that they express the degree of mutual information and the coherence of mutuality. Accordingly, mutual connectivity which appears to originate in the brain seems to the core of discrimination.

  • The purposes of this study are developing a stress index for each individual major trail in the national parks and contribute to establishing a park management policy based on scientific analyses using the index. We collected data from 144 sections of trails in national parks, conducted the Delphi survey and factor analysis, and generated the stress index by standardizing scores of factors contributing to the stress for each trail. As aresult, total eight factors contributing to the stress were considered and four of them, i.e. the amount of visits, the effect of visits, the degree of trail destruction, and species diversity, were selected to generate the stress index. How to weigh factors was determined by their importance obtained in the second Delphi survey and the average from a 5 point Likert scale. Then, the cumulative probabilities from the standardized scores were graded into five groups. In conclusion, there were twenty trails from the six national parks including Jirisan, Bukhansan, Deogyusan, Naejangsan, Seoraksan in the first grade which gained over 80 as the stress index.

  • Before 2022, there was a lot of confusion in the process of planning and implementing the projects for ecological restoration of the stream due to dualization the principal agent of stream management. Because the Ministry of Environment took charge of the project in 2022, securing the health of aquatic ecosystem of stream became an essential factor in the project. Therefore, in this study, the streams that require the project for ecological restoration was selected in Han River estuary, where it is essential to secure the health of the stream aquatic ecosystem as blackish water zone and Ramsar wetland are located. Physical, chemical, spatial/humanistic, health of aquatic ecosystems evaluation indexes were calculated based on the detailed facts and figures of the project for ecological restoration of the stream in the beginning. Ranking, re-scaling, z-score, and t-score normalization methods were applied to the calculated evaluation index, and the values were compared and analyzed. After that, the entropy weight method was applied to each evaluation index. Through this process, the streams(Mokgamcheon, Anyangcheon etc.) that require the project for ecological restoration were selected for the purpose of securing the health of the aquatic ecosystem in Han River estuary. The result of this study can be used as basic research data in the process of selecting the priority determination of the projects for ecological restoration of the stream.

  • This study was designed to examine the effects of integrated physical expressive activities on creativity in young children. Subjects of this study were 38 preschoolers at the age of 4 who consisted of both the experimental group of 18 children and the control group of 20 children. To measure the creativity of young children, this study adopted Figural Test A of Torrance Test of Creative Thinking (TTCT) as pre-and post-tests with both experimental and control group. The results showed that effects of integrated physical expressive activities varied by sub-dimensions of creativity; children's participation in integrated physical expressive activities was effective to improve openness, abstractness of titles, and elaboration even if overall creativity and fluency increased after their program participation. Also, originality was the only sub-dimension that was not improved. It implied that integrated physical expressive activities have partial positive effects on some sub-dimensions of creativity.

  • This study was designed to explore whether the temperament of a child influences the physical growth. The Korean version of the Parent Questionnaire for Children developed by Thomas, Chess and Korn was applied to 395 Korean children whose ages ranged from 3 years to 7 years. Simultaneously the height and the weight were measured for each child and converted into percentile scale according to the Growth Curve and the Weight Percentile Table for the Height of Korean children. Statistical analysis was performed among 9 temperamental categories, height and weight percentiles for the age and weight percentiles for the height using the first-order partial correlation analysis, controlling for the familial mean income per month. Results showed that the more temperamentally difficult a child is, the lower weight he has when compared with the children of the same age or the same height. Although there were some differences, the tendency of the above findings was maintained both in male and female children. These results show that the temperament may influence the physical growth as well as the psychological development.

여기에서는 각 제품의 평균점수에 대한 차이를 95%의 유의수준으로 T-Test를 실시하였다.uted to the society, and what the socioeconomic impacts are resulted from the program.
