Development of Pedestrian Dummies with Korean Anthropometric Data (한국인 표준체형을 고려한 보행자 더미 개발)

  • It is necessary to have a model that describes the anthropometry of the crash victim with a sufficient accuracy Koreans, however, do not have their own pedestrian dummies to be used in pedestrian collision tests. They have to use European and American dummies for their safety analysis. In this study scaled pedestrian dummies were constructed by using MADYMO. The dummies represent Korean average males and females aged from 25 to 29. The scaled Korean dummies and MADYMO human models were used to obtain and compare the pedestrian dynamic behaviors and injury criteria during the impact events.

  • 3D 음장 재생을 위한 기존의 방법 중 HCI(Human Computer Interface)에서 가장 효과적인 방법으로는 HRTF를 이용한 재생방법을 들 수 있다. 하지만 이 방법의 문제점은 표준 HRTF가 없다는 것이며 따라서 평균값을 가진 HRTF를 사용할 수밖에 없다. 이는 많은 부분에서 음상정위의 문제점으로 나타내어진다. 본 논문은 기하학적 인체 모델링을 통한 구조적인 HRTF 모델로 기존의 Pole/Zero, Series expansion(PCA) 모델링의 문제점인 유용성, 시스템의 복잡성을 극복할 수 있는 최근 이론을 소개하고 구현 방법에 대해 알아보고자 한다. 또한 본 연구팀에서 개발한 측정 HRTF를 이용한 3D 음장 재현 시스템으로 기존 스테레오 시스템에서는 불가능했던 머리 밖 음상정위 실험 결과를 보여주고 개선점에 대해 조사해 보았다.

Motion Retargetting Simplification for H-Anim Characters (H-Anim 캐릭터의 모션 리타겟팅 단순화)

  • There is a need for a system independent human data format that doesn't depend on a specific graphics tool or program to use interoperable human data in a network environment. To achieve this, the Web3D Consortium and ISO/IEC JTC1 WG6 developed the international draft standard ISO/IEC 19774 Humanoid Animation(H-Anim). H-Anim defines the data structure for an articulated human figure, but it does not yet define the data for human motion generation. This paper discusses a method of obtaining compatibility and independence of motion data between application programs, and describes a method of simplifying motion retargetting necessary for motion definition of H-Anim characters. In addition, it describes a method of generating H-Anim character animation using arbitrary 3D character models and arbitrary motion capture data without any inter-relations, and its implementation results.

  • A new anatomical head model was implemented based on the MR and CT images of the head of a volunteer whose head shape is close to the domestic standard. In order to compare SARs (specific absorption rates) of heads with different shapes, we calculated SARs in the two anatomical head models. The one is the new model and the other is that of the black race and was made at National Library Medicine in USA. The head model and a phone model were arranged in the computational space to be the touch or cheek position of CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardisation) and FCC guidelines. From the obtained results, we can see that the smaller head produces the higher whole head-averaged SAR. However, it seems that the localized SAR averaged over 1 g or 10 g is more dependent on the shape of the auricle rather than that of the head size.

  • Hyperthermia supplies RF high-frequency energy above 1MHz to the tumor tissue through the electrodes. And the temperature of the tumor tissue is increased to $42^{\circ}C$ or more to cause thermal necrosis. A mathematical model can be derived a human body model for absorption and transmission of electromagnetic energy in the human model and It is possible to evaluate the distribution of temperature fields in biological tissues. In this paper, we build the human model based on the adult standard model of the geometric shape of the 3D model and use the FVM code. It is assumed that Joule heat is supplied to the anatomical model to simulate the magnetic field induced by the external electrode and the temperature distribution was analyzed for 0-1,200 seconds. As a result of the simulation, it was confirmed that the transferred energy progressively penetrates from the edge of the electrode to the pulmonary tumors and from the skin surface to the subcutaneous layer.

Calculation of the Electromagnetic Fields Distribution around the Human Body and Study of Transmission Loss Related with the Human Body Communication (인체 통신에 따른 인체 주변에서의 전기장 분포 계산 및 전송 손실 연구)

  • Human body communication means transmitting and receiving data through human body medium or through free space along with the human body skin. Electric field distribution around the human body between the transmitter and the receiver were calculated at five different frequencies with 5 MHz interval between 10 MHz and 30 MHz. Commercial electromagnetic simulation tool was used for the calculation of E-field distributions applying the Korean standard male model including 29 different kinds of human tissues. After calculating specific absorption rate(SAR) values on back of the hand, it was compared with International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection(ICNIRP) human protection guideline. While conductivities(${\sigma}$) and relative permittivities(${\varepsilon}_r$) of the human tissues for each frequency were input as the analyzing parameters, electric field intensities near both hands were integrated along the integral line between the nearby electrodes for the calculation of the transmitting and receiving voltages whose ratio was defined as channel loss. The calculated channel losses were about ($75{\pm}1$) dB and showed nearly flat response all through the evaluated frequencies.

  • The government continues to make efforts to improve effectiveness, integration and connectivity of public transportation systems. But there have been only a few studies about it. This paper addresses the quality evaluation of pedestrian facility service in transfer stations at urban railroad. LOS (Level Of Service) model of urban railroad by facility based on the body ellipse and density recalculated considering the recent Korean body standard and the suggested Pedestrian Moving Equivalent (PME) and Pedestrian Waiting Equivalent (PWE). For LOS model for the ticket booths and ticket vending machines, queuing theory has been applied to determine LOS of Pedestrians. And the importance weights among the pedestrian facilities is obtained by applying AHP analysis. Lastly, this paper shows and discusses the evaluation results of overall LOS of pedestrian facilities of five urban railroad transfer stations in Seoul.

  • An anatomically detailed elderly human body model is under development. Using the anthropometric database of domestic nation-wide size survey, SizeKorea, a standard size and shape of 50th %tile elderly was constructed. Through the local recruitment process, a male volunteer with 71 years of age, 163cm of height and 63kg of weight has been selected. The exterior (skin) and interior (skeleton and organ) geometries were acquired from whole body 3D laser scan and various medical images such as CT, X-ray, and Ultrasonic of the volunteer. A particular attention has been paid into the combining process of exterior and interior geometries especially for joint articulation positions since they were measured at different postures (sitting vs. supine). A whole ribcage of PMHS which possessed similar anthropometry and age of standard 50th %tile elderly was prepared and dissected for the precise gauge of cortical rib bone thickness distributions. After completing the morphological construction of elderly human body, the finite element modeling will be processed by meshing elements and assigning mechanical properties to various biological tissues which reflect the aging effect.

Development of Reference Korean Organ and Effective Dose Calculation Online System (웹 기반 표준한국인 장기 흡수선량 및 유효선량 평가 시스템 개발)

  • Recently High-Definition Reference Korean-Man (HDRK-Man) and High-Definition Reference Korean-Woman (HDRK-Woman) were constructed in Korea. The HDRK phantoms were designed to represent respectively reference Korean male and female to calculate effective doses for Korean by performing Monte Carlo dose calculation. However, the Monte Carlo dose calculation requires detailed knowledge on computational human phantoms and Monte Carlo simulation technique which regular researchers in radiation protection dosimetry and practicing health physicists do not have. Recently the UFPE (Federal University of Pernambuco) research group has developed, and opened to public, an online Monte Carlo dose calculation system called CALDOSE_X(www.caldose.org). By using the CALDOSE_X, one can easily perform Monte Carlo dose calculations. However, the CALDOSE_X used caucasian phantoms to calculate organ doses or effective doses which are limited for Korean. The present study developed an online reference Korean dose calculation system which can be used to calculate effective doses for Korean.

  • Recently, as various cases of using deep learning in the health-care field are increasing, functions such as electrocardiogram examination and body composition analysis through wearable device can be provided to provide rational decision-making and a process tailored to the individual. In order to utilize deep learning, it it most important to secure refined data, and this data is being made through human intervention or unsupervised learning. In this paper, we propose a model that conducts unsupervised learning by clusters according to gender and age using human body data such as chest and waist circumferences, which are easy to measure, and classifies them with CNN. For data, the 7th human body data provided by Korean Agency for Technology and Standards was used. Through this, it it thought that it can be applied to various application cases such as personalized body shape management service and obesity analysis.
