A Study on Performance Improvement for Acquiring Time of Ship Target through Defining and Analysing the Main Affecting Factors of Tracking Radar (추적레이더의 주요영향인자 정의 및 분석을 통한 대함표적획득시간 성능향상에 관한 연구)

  • The STIR(Signal Tracking & Illumination Radar) in KDX(Korean Destroyer Experimental) combat system acquires target from designating 3-D target information of surveillance radar (MW-08), and The performance of radar is decided by target acquisition time and accuracy of tracking loop because the STIR tracks automatically in accordance with tracking algorithm. In the view of ship, elements related with target acquisition time of the STIR can be various. In this paper the target acquisition time of the STIR is reduced by identifying the elements and suggesting the performance improvement method. The way of performance improvement is suggested through analysing main affecting factors. First, tracking algorism is required for analysis. Second, fitness of parameters that control elements related with acquisition distance is analyzed. And the third, accuracy of ship based sensors is analyzed. In conclusion, acquisition time against ship target can be advanced to 3 seconds from 10 seconds.

  • 본 논문에서는 레이더와 전자정보에서 획득한 방향정보 자료를 이용해서 전자파 정보를 융합하는 기술을 제시한다. 레이더에서 획득한 표적신호와 전자정보에서 획득한 정보신호를 융합하면 표적을 정확하게 확인할 수 있기 때문에 레이더의 탐지 오차율이 줄어들고 표적에 대한 상세 정보를 확보할 수 있어서 표적식별이나 목표물 선정에 쉽게 사용할 수 있다.

  • An attack aircraft such as a fighter needs an accurate location information of a target for the exact air-to-air or air-to-ground attack. In this paper a method is proposed that generates a location information of an air-to-ground target just in use of HMD without the target tracking sensors such as the radar and the FLIR. HMD is an embedded device to induce the seeker header to indicate the direction of a pilot's head. As a simulation result, it is founded that the target location information is able to be generated with a high degree of precision by using of HMD as a passive sensor.

  • This paper presents a technology of information fusion between radar and electronic intelligence system. Radar can get range and direction information of targets and electronic intelligence system can get direction and electromagnetic information of targets which can be fused and identified together. We designed an information fusion unit in which information data is able to be added and compared and designed a display unit in which a fused information is totally displayed.

Estimating Characteristic Data of Target Acquisition Systems for Simulation Analysis (모의 분석을 위한 표적 획득 체계의 특성 데이터 산출)

  • Under combat simulation environment when inputting the detection performance data of the real system into the simulated object the given data affects the simulation analysis result. ACQUIRE-Target Task Performance Metric (TTPM)-Target Angular Size (TAS) model is used as a target acquisition model to simulate the detection ability of entities in the main combat simulation tool. This model estimates the decomposition curve of the object sensor and output the detection distance according to the target type. However, it is not easy to apply the performance of the new detection object that the user wants to input to the target acquisition model. Users want to input the detection distance into the target acquisition model, but the target acquisition model requires sensor decomposition curve data according to encounter conditions. In this paper, we propose a method of inversely deriving the sensor decomposition curve data of the target acquisition model by taking the detection distance to the target as an input. Here, the sensor decomposition curve data simultaneously satisfies each detection distance for three types of targets: personnel, ground vehicles, and aircraft. Finally, the detection distance of various reconnaissance equipment is applied to the detection object, and the detection effect according to the reconnaissance equipment is analyzed.

  • The upcoming warfare will be network-centric warfare with the acquiring and sharing of information on the battlefield through the connection of the entire weapon system. Therefore, the amount of information generated increases, but the technology of evaluating the information is insufficient. Threat assessment is a technology that supports a quick decision, but the information has many uncertainties and is difficult to apply to an advanced battlefield. This paper proposes a threat assessment based on artificial intelligence while removing the target uncertainty. The artificial intelligence system used was a fuzzy inference system and a multi-layer perceptron. The target was classified by inputting the unique characteristics of the target into the fuzzy inference system, and the classified target information was input into the multi-layer perceptron to calculate the appropriate threat value. The validity of the proposed technique was verified with the threat value calculated by inputting the uncertain target to the trained artificial neural network.

  • In automatic target recognition(ATR) systems, target extraction techniques are very important because ATR performance depends on segmentation result. So, this paper proposes a multi-sensor image fusion method based on adaptive weights. To incorporate the FLIR image and CCD image, we used information such as the bi-modality, distance and texture. A weight of the FLIR image is derived from the bi-modality and distance measure. For the weight of CCD image, the information that the target's texture is more uniform than the background region is used. The proposed algorithm is applied to many images and its performance is compared with the segmentation result using the single image. Experimental results show that the proposed method has the accurate extraction performance.

  • In this paper, we convert underwater acoustic signal made by sonar system into digital image. We propose the algorithm that detects target candidate and emphasizes information of target introducing image processing technique for the digital image. The process detecting underwater target estimates background noise in underwater acoustic signal changing irregularly, recomposes it. and eliminates background from original image. Therefore, it generates initial target group. Also, it generates weighted map through proceeding doppler information, ensures information for target candidate through filtering using weighted map for image eliminated background noise, and decides the target candidate area in the single frame. In this paper, we verified that proposed algorithm almost had eliminated the noise generated irregularly in underwater acoustic signal made by simulation, targets had been displayed more surely in the image of underwater acoustic signal through filtering and process of target detection.

  • 단일 센서 기반의 표적 탐지 문제에서 센서의 한계 요소에 의해 탐지 성능이 제한된다. 따라서, 최근 단일 센서 기반의 표적 탐지 성능을 향상시키기 위한 방안으로 각 센서의 강점을 효과적으로 융합하는 다중 센서 정보 융합 기반의 표적 탐지 기법에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 센서 정보 융합을 위해서는 각 센서별 영상 획득, 각 영상의 기하학적 정합, 센서 정보 융합 기반의 표적 탐지 기술이 필요하며, 본 논문에서는 이에 대한 기술 및 개발 동향을 소개한다.
