The purpose of this study is to suggest a rational guidelines of authority record for heading controls. It analyzes the headings of AACR2R and KCR2. To efficient retrieval, It suggests distinction of different persons and different corporate bodies of the same name and subject list. It also investigates the problem sand suggests the possible improvements for control of headings. The rules for heading control retains the frame from headings of cataloging rules. The guideline for heading controls will be integrated in the rules for headings.

It analyzes the Statement of Principles of ICCP, the headings of Korean Cataloging Rules and personal name heading of KORMARC on Disc. It also investigates the problems and suggests the possible improvements for headings of personal name. The rules for heading control retains the frame from headings of cataloging rules. The guidelines for heading control of personal name will be integrated in the rules for headings. 전산환경에서 유용한 색인도구로서의 통제어휘집을 구성하는 원칙과 방법을 제시하고자 전조합색인용 통제어휘집인 LC주제명표목표의 표목구조와 후조합색인용 통제어휘집인 시소러스의 용어구조를 비교하였다. 주제명표목표에서 사용되는 도치표목, 전치사로 연결된 표목, 접속사로 연결된 표목, 세목을 가진 표목을 시소러스에서 사용되는 색인구조와 비교분석 하였다. 주제명표목표가 참조구조를 시소러스체제로 변환시켰을 때 나타나는 문제점도 파악하였다.

The purpose of this study is to devise a rational rules for headings in a new Korean Cataloging Rules. To achieve this purpose, this study has analyzed the Statement of Principles of ICCP, AACR, AACR2, AACR2R, KCR2, KCR3.1, KORMARC on Disc etc. And then it studied the problems resulting from the analysis and described a new and rational cataloging rules for headings. To distinguish those different persons of the same name, It need to be add a subject name belong to the author that distinguish different person of the same name. And so devised a rational subject name list. And the guidline for authority control or authority entry to control the headings will be based upon GARE. The guideline will be integrated in the rules for headings.

The purpose of this study is to examine how the titles and corporate names of Japanese scholarly journals are treated, and how well the authority control is implemented to assist the access with various names and forms of names to the OPACS. Without the help of either references or internal links among those names and forms of names in the DBs, users are likely to fail in getting the right results. In this study, the cataloging records for serials from the National Assembly Library, KISTI, Yonsei University and the KERIS were examined, and the comparison was made with the records from the NACIS-WebCat of the National Institute of Informatics in Japan. Major findings include (1) the lack of consistency in applying cataloging rules, (2) the lack of proper authority control in treating corporate names, and (3) the lack of references or links among names and variant forms of names. The overall improvement of cataloging practices and application of authority control is strongly recommended for enabling users to access better to those DBs of interest.

이 연구는 전거통제를 위한 상호협력시스템으로서 발전을 거듭하고 있는 미국의 NACO의 역사와 발전과정, PCC와의 관계 등에 대해 고찰하고, 한국의 도서관에서의 활용방안에 대해 구체적으로 분석하였다. 광범위한 전거데이터의 활용이라는 면에서 NACO는 유용한 대안이 될 수 있으나, 표목 및 접근점의 선정과 형식에 관한 표준의 문제, 로마자화의 문제, 수록데이터의 유용성, 비용, 정책상의 문제 등도 충분히 고려해야 함을 지적하였다. 아울러 국내의 경우에도 이와 같은 전거통제를 위한 상호협력시스템이 필요하다는 점에서, NACO는 하나의 좋은 모델이 될 수 있을 것이다.

The KORMARC format for authority data defines the ales and conventions (tags, indrators, subfield codes and coded value) that idenbfy the data elements in KORMARC authority records. This document is intended for the use of personel involved in the creation and maintenance of authority records as well as those involved in the deslgn and maintenance of systems for the communication and praxsmg of authority records. The format is developed on the basis of USMARC f o m t for authority data. And for the compatibility, the KORMARC format for bibliographc data is taken into account.

The purpose of this study is to examine how corporate names are treated in the OPACs in Korea, and to find out how well the authority control is implemented. A corporate body often has different names and different forms of names which should be properly linked in the OPACs. Without the help of either references or internal links among such names and forms of names in the OPACs, users are likely to fail in getting the right results, In this study, the OPACs from the five major libraries, the National Assembly Library, KISTI, Yonsei University, the National Central Library, and the KERIS were examined. Major common findings include (1) the lack of consistency in applying cataloging rules, (2) the lack of proper authority control in treating corporate names, and (3) the lack of references or links among names and variant forms of names. Because of the small scale of this study, more comprehensive and thorough study seems to be needed. However, the overall improvement of cataloging practices and application of authority control is strongly suggested, based upon the findings.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the equality between keywords used in the Journal of the Korean Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and medical subject headings (MeSH). A total of 4,353 English keywords in 1,165 papers from 1998 to 2014 were eligible for this study. We classified them according to equality to MeSH. We assayed patterns of errors in using MeSH, and reviewed frequently used non-MeSH terms. 24.9% of total keywords were completely coincident with MeSH terms, 75.1% were not MeSH terms. The results show that the accordance rate of keywords with MeSH terms in the Journal of the Korean Pediatric Dentistry is at a low level. Therefore, there is a need for authors to understand MeSH more specifically and accurately. Use of proper keywords aligned with the international standards such as MeSH is important to be properly cited. Authors should pay attention and be educated on the correct use of MeSH as keywords.

Back-of-book-style indexes have a similar function as back-of-book indexes. The best advantage o4 back-of-book-style indexes for Information access on the web is to give direct access to specific subjects of interest. Though back-of-book-style indexes are alphabetically arranged as back-of-book indexes, they have linked index entries to contents on the site by using a anchor tag of HTML. In this research, I have created back-of-book-style indexes in two separated ways, by hand-crafted and semi-automatic Indexing. We have utilized back-of-book-style indexes, that is similar to back-of-book index of traditional information organization method of library and information science, in library circumstances.
