Thermosensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) gels containing temperature-sensitive liposomes showing temperature-dependent sol-gel transition were prepared. The surface of temperature-sensitive liposome was modified with copolymers of N-isopropylacrylamide and octadecylacrylate, which exhibited a lower critical solution temperature at around 30 $^{\circ}C$ After mixing the modified temperature-sensitive liposomes with poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) solution, the temperature-sensitive 1iposomes formed physically cross-linked gels through heating the solution above their lower critical solution temperatures. The release of drug from temperature-sensitive liposomes was determined by measuring fluorescence intensity. The drug release from temperature-sensitive liposomes in poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) gel gradually showed sustained-release with increasing temperature.
${\alpha}$,$\omega$-Hydrogen polyorganosiloxane(HPMDMS) prepolymer was prepared from equilibrium polymerization ofoctamethylcyclotetrasiloxane, 1,3,5-trimethylcyclotrisiloxane, 1,3,5,7-tetravinyl-1,3,5,7-tetramethyl-cyclotetrasiloxane, and 1,1,3,3-tetramethyl disiloxane as an end-blocker in the presence of tetramethylammonium siloxanolate as a catalyst. Polyorganosiloxane modified with dimethylacrylamide(APMDMS) was prepared by hydrosilylation of HPMDMS with dimethylacrylamide in the presence of Pt catalyst, and followed by coordination of metal oxide (APMDMS-MO), such as NiO and FeO, to the amide moieties of the resulting polymer. The chemical structures of HPMDMS and APMDMS were confirmed by FT-IR and $^1$H-NMR analysis. Liquid silicone rubber containing metal oxide composite (LSRMO) was prepared by compounding APMDMS-MO, ${\alpha}$,$\omega$-vinylpolydimethylsiloxane, and a catalyst in a high speed dissolver. The thermal conductivity of LSRMO composite was determined to be 0.29 W/mK, and the volume resistivity exhibited a lower value than that of LSR composite. The mechanical and thermal properties of LSRMO and LSR composite were measured by UTM and TGA.
We determined the quality characteristics, acrylamide concentration, and antioxidant activity of Nurungji prepared using white rice, brown rice, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) brown rice, oats, and barley. The moisture content of Nurungji prepared using white rice was the lowest (1.48%) and the highest (6.53%) was obtained in barley Nurungji. The brightness (L*) of white rice Nurungji was the highest, whereas that of GABA brown rice Nurungji was the lowest. The acrylamide concentration was the lowest (37.24 ㎍/g) in white rice Nurungji and the highest (255.50 ㎍/g) in oats Nurungji. The levels of total polyphenol and total flavonoid were the lowest in white rice Nurungji and high in oats and GABA brown rice Nurungji. The antioxidant activity was higher in Nurungji prepared using oats, GABA brown rice, brown rice, and barley than that using white rice. It is necessary to select an appropriate grain when preparing Nurungji by considering the amount of acrylamide produced.
Superabsorbent poly(potassium acrylate-co-acrylamide)s were synthesized in particle form using inverse suspension polymerization technique. Mean diameter of the prepared polymer particles decreased from 300 to 50 $\mu\textrm{m}$ with increasing surfactant concentration. The dynamic and equilibrium swelling behaviors during water absorption and drying process were investigated by weight measurement. The swelling ratio of polymer particles in water changed according to not only polymer crosslinking density, but particle size, saline concentration of aqueous medium, and copolymer compositions. Water sorption amount was increased with decreasing particle size, crosslinking agent concentration, and ion concentration in bulk solution. Being different from the water sorption process, the drying process was not significantly affected by particle size, polymer composition, or crosslinking amount.

The ability to control filler performance and fines retention is vital in the development of both filled and non filled grades, respectively. This is very important when achieving the desired sheet structure necessary to maximize machine performance and end user demands. A narrow balance exists in attaining the desired retention and formation particularly in systems with heavier ash loads and producing paper and paper board on higher speed high shear equipment. A new generation of both cationic and anionic micropolymer technologies has been developed. These water based chemistries are volatile organic compound (VOC) and alkyphenol ethoxylate (APE) free. When these novel micropolymers are applied with linear poly-acrylamide or in conjunction with inorganic microparticle technologies (such as silica or swellable minerals), substantial increases in drainage, fibre retention and ash retention are observed. These improvements have been observed not only in high filled wood and non wood containing grades such as fine paper and super calendared sheets (SCA), but also in low filled newsprint grades. Of particular note is the drainage improvement seen with the application of the cationic micropolymers in unbleached packaging grades with poly-acrylamide.
In this study, inorganic (steel, asbestos and carbon) and organic (polyacryl and polyamide) fibers were used to investigate their reinforcing effects of the physical properties of Portland cement. From the load-displacement curve of each reinforced specimen, fracture strength, Young's module, fracture energy and fracture toughness were computed and compared with each other. In addition, the experiment of their impact toughness was carried out and compared with the fracture energy. For the improvement of fracture strength the inorganic (asbestos) fiber reinforcement was most effective, while the best reinforcing effect of impact toughness was achieved by organic (polyacryl) fiber. And steel fiber proved to be most adequate for improvement of both fracture strength and impact toughness. Steel fiber also showed the highest fracture energy and fracture toughness among all of the fibers.

We have investigated the rheological behaviours of emulsions containing polymers. The polymers used in this study were polyacrylamide and carboxy vinyl polymer. The emulsion with polyacrylamide shows better prior preference than that with carboxy vinyl polymer on the skin texture. In the toxicity test, such as, LLNA cell toxicity, skin organ culture and human patch test, polyacrylamide was the appropriate materials for the cosmetics. The viscosity of polyacrylamide shows maximum value in neutral pH and good stability against temperature. The decreasing effect of viscosity against salt was not good enough but showed a better result than that of carboxy vinyl polymer. Two times the amount of polyacrylamide should be used for the formation of a similar viscosity of carboxy vinyl polymer. Yield value of polyacrylamide was low and the effect for the stabilizing emulsions was also low.
cis-Diamminedichloroplatinum(II)(CDDP), an antitumor drug, did not generate crosslink between bluetongue virus (BTV) capsid protein at moderate concentration. Cesium chloride density gradient centrifugation study revealed that protein-RNA crosslink was not detectable in CDDP treated BTV. CDDP treated BTV ds RNA showed remarkable change in the migration pattern in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. These results suggest that the reduction of BTV core associated transcriptase activity is most likely by the CDDP adduction to the genomic ds RNA rather than by the protein-RNA crosslink and/or protein-protein cross-link.
