Synthesis of High Functionalized Anion Exchange Fibers Using Hybrid Polyolefine by $\gamma-Ray$ Mutual Radiation (방사선 동시조사법을 이용한 고관능성 Hybrid Polyolefine 음이온교환섬유의 합성)

  • Ion exchange fibers, high functionalized onto hybrid polyolefine fiber's surface, were synthesized by $\gamma-ray$ mutual radiation. Degree of grafting (DG) of copolymer increased with increasing GMA monomer concentration and the maximum rate of DG was 355% at 50 GMA. The graft reaction occurred in polar solvent and DG was 190% maximum value in $1.0\times10^{-3}$ Mohr's salt and 0.1 M sulfuric acid, respectively. The amination for graft copolymers varied depending on amine reagents, and the reactivity for copolymers was highest for methylamine, and that of triethylamine lowest. It was shown that water uptake and ion exchange capacities increased with increase in the rate of amination while surface area decreased rapidly as proceeding for graft reaction and amination.

Synthesis of Aminated PP-g-styrene Fibrous Ion-Exchanger for Separation of Boron from Ground-Water (지하수로부터 붕소이온 분리를 위한 아민화 PP-g-styrene 이온교환체 섬유의 합성과 붕소 음이온 흡착에 관한 연구)

  • Fabric ion-exchanger, aminated PP-g-styrene was synthesized with styrene monomer onto PP staple fiber by pre-irradiational grafting with E-beam and subsequent chloromethylation and amination. Degree of grafting was increased with increasing the styrene monomer concentration and the highest degree of grafting was obtained 118% at a monomer concentration of 80% styrene. Optimum condition of Mohr's salt and sulphuric acid were 1.0 ${\times}\;10^{-3}$ M and 0.1 M. Amount of amination was increased with increasing degree of grafting. Swelling ratio of aminated PP-g styrene was higher than that of trunk polymer. Ion-exchange capacity was 6.7 meq/g, which was three times greater than commercial ion-exchanger. Optimum condition of baron ion adsorption was pH 4 and amount of adsorption were increased with increasing the amount of amination.

  • The new naphthol-containing hexadentate ligands, 1,12-bis (2-naphthol)- 2,5,8,11-tetraazadodecane 4HCl (nptr) and 1,14-bis(2-naphthol)- 2,6,9,13- tetraazatetradodecane .4HCl (npptr) were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, and mass spectrometry. Acid dissociation constants and stability constants of Co(II), Ni(II). Cu(II), and Zn(II) complexes were determined at $25.0^{\circ}C$ and ionic strength ($\mu$)=0.10M($KNO_3$) by potentiometry. The relationship between basicity and stability constants of ligands containing aliphatic amines and 2-naphthol were studied.

  • Electrospun polymeric nanofibers have been extensively studied for biomedical materials because of their unique structures and relatively easy fabrication with biocompatible polymers. The amount of surface exposed amine groups increases as the blend ratio of block copolymer increases. Cell attachments on the nanofibers change according to the ratio of the block copolymer ((Poly(e-caprolactone, PCL), Poly(e-caprolactone)-Poly (ethylen glycol-$NH_2$)) in the blend. We assume that the PEG and amine moiety plays a significant role in biocompatibility of nanofiber surfaces. Collagen was used as a grafting material on the composite nanofibers to enhance the cell adhesion because the collagen is a major constituent of connective tissue.

  • The grafting of 2,3-epoxypropylmethacrylate (GMA) onto polypropylene fabric was carried out by the $\gamma$-ray preirradiation grafting technique. Subsequently, the GMA-grafted polypropylene fabric was reacted with iminodiacetic acid (IDA) in different mixed solvents to prepare the fibrous metal adsorbent. The grafting extent was found to be dependent on the reaction time, temperature, preirradiation dose and dose rate. The effects of various mixed solvents on the IDA amination onto GMA-grafted polypropylene fabric were investigated. Compared with other mixed solvents, the extent of amination was highest in the dimethylsulfoxide (DMSO)/water, but the reaction did not occur in the water. The adsorption characteristics of various metal ions by the prepared adsorbent were examined when it was immersed in the 100 ppm metal ion solution. The amount of adsorption followed the order:$Pb^{2+}>Co^{2+}>Fe^{2+}$.

  • For automotive coating agents that require little change in characteristics due to changes in external temperature, changes in noise characteristics due to changes in the external environment are very important. Therefore, soft polyurethane with excellent cold resistance, weather resistance, and abrasion resistance, and polysiloxane whose -OH terminated and side chains are modified with amines, are widely used. In this study, coating agents was prepared by adding water-born polyurethane, polysiloxane, ultra high molecular weight polypropylene (UHMWPP) powder, carbon black, and a matting agent to determine the effect of each resin component on noise. To study the effect of each resin component on noise, a coating agent was prepared by adding water-born polyurethane, polysiloxane, UHMWPP powder, carbon black, and a matting agent. The hard/soft segment ratio of water-born polyurethane, the main component of the coating, was 27.1%/72.9%, and the ratio of amino siloxanes to hydroxy-terminated polysiloxane was 2:7, which produced the least noise. The difference in friction coefficient was large when the friction body moves at high speed. When UHMWPP powder replaced SiO2, noise decreased and gloss also decreased.

Pervaporation Separation of Trace Dicholoromethane from Water Using Fluorinated Polysiloxaneimide do Membranes (불소계 폴리실록산이미드 공중합체막을 이용한 저농도 Dichloromethane 수용액의 투과증발)

  • This study reports on the pervaporation separation of a volatile organic compound(VOC), dichloromethane(DCM) from water using fluorinated copolysiloxaneimide membranes. The copolysiloxaneimide membranes were prepared from 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride(6FDA) and two diamines(polysiloxane diamine(SIDA), 2-(perfluorohexyl)ethyl-3,5-diaminobenzene(PFDAB)). By varying the ratio of flexible polysiloxane diamine(SIDA)/rigid fluorinated aromatic diamine(PFDAB) from 0/100 to 100/0 mol%, five copolysiloxaneimide membranes were prepared success- fully. The pervaporation properties of DCM/water were examined in terms of two diamine monomer ratio at room temperature and the feed composition of 0.05 wt% in water. It was found that the increase in SIDA content led to high permeation flux and pervaporation selectivity towards DCM by the enhanced sorption/sorption selectivity and diffusion coefficient/diffusion selectivity due to the increased hydrophobicity and fractional free volume.

Synthesis and Analytical Application of Chelating Resins Containing Polyamines (폴리아민류를 작용기로 하는 킬레이트수지의 합성 및 분석적 응용)

  • The polyamine resins were synthesized by reacting amines such as diethylenetriamine(dien), triethylenetetramine(trien), tetraethylenepentamine(tetren), and pentaethylenehexamine(penten). Stepwise dissociation constants of amines, enthalpy and free energy of metal chelate were determined. Formation constants $(log k_1) of metal chelates were in order of Cu(Ⅱ) > Ni(Ⅱ) > Cd(Ⅱ) > Zn(Ⅱ) > Co(Ⅱ) and tendency of stabilities were proportional to nitrogen numbers of ligand such as dien < trien < tetren > penten. Elutional selectivites of metal ions on resin were agreed to formation constants of metal chelates. {\Delta}H and {\Delta}G were calculated by Van't Hoff equation. Stability constants (log k1) of metalic complexes were in order Cu(Ⅱ) > Ni(Ⅱ) > Cd(Ⅱ) > Zn(Ⅱ) > Co(Ⅱ), and tendency of stabilities were {\circledP}_L-Dien < {\circledP}_L-Trien < {\circledP}_L-Tetren < {\circledP}_L-Penten. The elutional selectivities of metal ions were agreed to stability constants of metal chelates.

  • The new tridentate poly-amine ligands, N,N-Bis(2-amino-ethyl)-methyl amine${\cdot}$2HBr (BAMA${\cdot}$2HBr), N,N-Bis(2-amino-ethyl)-ethylamine${\cdot}$2HBr (BAEA${\cdot}$2HBr), N,N-Bis(2-amino-ethyl)-propylamine${\cdot}$2HBr (BAPA${\cdot}$2HBr) and N,N-Bis(2-amino-ethyl)-butylamine${\cdot}$2HBr (BABA${\cdot}$2HBr) were synthesized as their dihydrobromic-salt and characterized by EA, IR, NMR and Mass spectroscopy. The protonation constants of the ligands and stability constants of transition metal(II) complexes were determined in aqueous solutions by potentiometry and compared with diethylenetriamine. Stability constants for transition metal complexes of ligands are in the order of BAMA < BAEA < BAPA > BABA. The larger value of stability constants of BAPA compared to these BABA, may be attributed to the more distorted structure of the complex due to the increased steric crowding caused by the presence of the bulky N-butyl group.

Synthesis and Thermo-responsive Properties of Amino Group Terminated Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) and Sodium Alginate-g-Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (말단 아민기를 갖는 폴리(N-이소프로필아크릴아미드) 및 알긴산 나트륨-g-폴리(N-이소프로필아크릴아미드)의 합성과 열응답 특성)

  • Amino group-terminated poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm-$NH_2$) was synthesized via a radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide (NIPAAm) using 2-aminoethanethiol hydrochloride (AESH) as a chain transfer agent. The molecular weight of the PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ was controlled by changing the concentration of AESH. The LCST of the aqueous solution of PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ increased slightly with increasing the AESH concentration. Alginate-g-PNIPAAm copolymer was synthesized by grafting PNIPAAm-$NH_2$ onto sodium alginate using N-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-N'-ethylcarbodiimide and N-hydroxysuccinimide. The formation of the grafted copolymers was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy, solubility in water, and SEM-EDS. Alginate-g-PNIPAAm also exhibited swelling-deswelling behavior. However, it showed a LCST at a slightly increased temperature compared to PNIPAAm. The swelling ratio of the alginate-g-PNIPAAm hydrogel increased with the increase of the grafted PNIPAAm content.
