A Study on Present Situation of Violence in School and Improvement Program (학교폭력의 실태분석과 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • School is the place where teenagers spend most of their time, forming friendships and receiving guidance from the teachers. Their life in school is a procedure of learning lessons before advancing into the society. However, in this place of learning, misdeeds such as violence, extortion and bullying are actually happening, some of which developing into suicide, murder and prostitution. For this reason, violence in school, especially, raises concerns as a serious social problem these days. Therefore, this study suggests more practical improvement programs to solve the problem of the violence in school, by first investigating the concept and the actual situation of school violence, and by better understanding the problems resulted from the school violence. The researchers of the study suggest as follows: First is about strengthening the education that builds students' personality, where we investigate the methods of personality education that suit with the current situation and suggest what is necessary to improve them. The second is about expansion of the functioning of families and of the educational role of the household heads, where we argue the importance of education in the family in addition to the education in school, and we suggest the right way for the parents to discipline their children. The third is about expansion of counseling professionals and improving social environment, where we explain the importance of counseling professionals in preventing and solving the issues in school violence and suggest expansion of these professionals and also suggest installation and operation of dedicated counseling room in schools. The fourth is about use of school sheriffs, where we suggest dispatching school sheriffs nationwide and fully use them as a countermeasure against school violence.

An Analysis on the Actual Conditions and Countermeasures of School Violence (학교폭력의 실태와 대처방안 분석)

  • In this study, As youth school violence is emerging as a serious social problem, this study needs to actively respond to school violence to prevent and reduce the proportion of secondary cyber violence by examining previous studies related to school violence. By recognizing problems through comparative analysis of the recent status and characteristics of school violence according to changes in the educational environment after COVID-19, we intend to find the right direction for schools, families, and communities to cope with school violence. The analysis data is a psychology that takes into account the change in the educational environment caused by COVID-19 through the first survey of school violence in 2021 by the Ministry of Education. It is meaningful to suggest directions and alternatives to prevent school violence and solve school violence problems by strengthening teachers' responsibility and improving their ability to cope efficiently.

Clinical Characteristics and Heart Rate Variability of Foreign Domestic Violence Victims in Korea (국내 거주 외국인 가정폭력 피해 여성의 임상적 특징 및 심박변이도)

  • Objectives: Domestic violence is related to many psychiatric diseases, such as depression, anxiety disorder, and PTSD. Heart rate variability (HRV) is an index of autonomic control of the heart and is related to cardiovascular and emotional disorders. Although there have been some studies on the effects of domestic violence on women's mental health, relatively little information is available on HRV in this population. The aim of this study is to investigate demographic data, psychological features, and HRV in female victims of domestic violence and difference between Korean and foreign female victims. Methods: A total of 210 female victims of domestic violence (166 Korean women and 44 foreign women) were recruited for this study. Psychological symptoms were measured using the Hamilton Rating Scale for Anxiety (HAM-A), Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAM-D), and Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R). HRV measures were assessed by time-domain and frequency-domain analyses. Results: The mean score of HAM-A was 13.81, that of HAM-D was 12.92, and that of IES-R was 33.61 ; there were no significant differences between Korean and foreign women in these measures. In HRV time domain analyses, approximate entropy (ApEn) was significantly increased in foreign women compared to the Korean women. The square root of the mean of the sum of the squares of differences between adjacent NN intervals (RMSSD) was significantly decreased in foreign women compared to Korean women. There were no significant differences in the other HRV variables between Korean and foreign women. Conclusion: Female victims of domestic violence in Korea are associated with depression, anxiety, and PTSD symptoms. The physiologic factors of a female victim's nationality could be related to higher ApEn and lower RMSSD in foreign female victims. These findings have important implications for future study to study the relationships among ethnic and environmental factors and HRV variables.

Study about the role of the Prevention of School Safety Keeper System (학교안전지킴이의 학교폭력예방에 대한 제도적 고찰 - 전문성과 제약성을 중심으로 -)

  • School violence that have occurred recently, showing a tendency to collectivization and diverse types of violence, as well as the quality and increase the damage levels. School violence in the home, school, and social factors, but is caused by the lack of awareness about the violence and the reporting of consciousness due to poor acts of violence indirectly assisted. The only place violence has caused the school to establish the legal and institutional arrangements in order to minimize school violence have no choice but to limit its effectiveness is negligible. The problem of school violence in connection with the problem of juvenile crime prevention and control, and punishment should be made of the complex and layered. Operation and School police system, School safety keeper system, school sheriff system since 2005, each municipality in order to minimize school violence, but have no practical help to limit the visible and symbolic effects. Nonexistent professional staff of the institution or school safety monitors emphasis on monitoring the physical state of the system in the form of 'guards' departure inherently have limitations. Also, to prevent criminal acts or violence in the state is not given special privileges and the appropriate role for the school keeper is a problem with the system. Report no other role can not be expected. Should therefore be preceded by a systematic improvement and training of experts in order to prevent school violence, and home and school, in terms of social support and measures.

Characteristics of Aggressive Victims of Dating Violence and their Commitments in Dating Relationships (데이트 폭력의 공격적 피해여성들의 특성과 연인관계에 대한 개입)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate characteristics of victims, especially aggressive victims of dating violence, and examine how they constructed the dating relationship and their commitments in dating relationships. The participants were 526 female college students who had the experience of heterosexual dating relationships, whose ages ranged from 18 to 37 (M=20.10, SD=2.70). The psychological tests used in this research included the following: Straus' Conflict Tactics Scale, Foo and Margolin's Justification of Violence Scale, Korean Version of Gender-Role Scale, and Lee and Han's Relationship Measures. Results revealed that aggressive victims of dating violence were more likely to receive mild violence as well as severe violence from their dating partners than victims only, while women who were victim only experienced sexual harassments more than aggressive victims from their dating partners. Aggressive victims of dating violence had experienced fathers' domestic violence more than women who had not experienced dating violence. Victims of dating violence showed less negative attitude toward dating violence than women who had not experienced dating violence. Victims of dating violence showed stronger commitments in their dating relationships than women who had not experienced dating violence. The results of this study may provide valuable information for professionals who help victims of dating violence.
