공기보조형 가솔린 연료분사기의 흡기포트내 연료분무 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Spray Behavior of Air-Assist Type Gasoline Fuel Injector in Intake Port)

  • The fuel spray behavior in the intake port of an electronic control port irijection gasoline engine has a strong influence on engine performance, exhaust emission and fuel consumption. Thus, in this study, fuel spray behavior and flow characteristics of the air assist gasoline spray injected into a suction flow in a simulated rectangular intake port have boon investigated. Macro-behavior of spray characteristics was investigated by means of visualization and the measurements of SMD and velocity were made by PDPA. For analysis the flow field with droplets size, droplets are classified five droplets size groups. As a result, the normal distance of suction flow increasing, the relatively large droplets distribution and SMD increase because small droplets easily follow suction flow. Near impinging wail, after impinging against the wall, secondary atomized small droplets of D < $30{\mu}m$ bound from the wall. And the increasement of suction flow progress to the large droplets of D > $100{\mu}m$ distribution. Therefore, SMD are apparently increased near impinging wall, Z/d = 9.0.

  • Combustion and emission characteristics in a direct injection diesel engine is closely related to the intake port system. It is therefore important to understand the swirl flow characteristics formed by a helical intake port. However there are still many uncertainties. The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate the effects of the valve eccentricity ratio and the inlet flow conditions of a helical intake port on the characteristics of an in-cylinder swirl flow. A steady state flow test rig consisted of ISM(impulse swirl meter), LFM(laminar flow meter) and cylinder head with a helical intake port was used. The swirl ratio(Rs) and mean flow coefficient(Cf(mean)) with inlet flow conditions were measured. The results of these experiment can be summarized as follows. Swirl flow characteristics of a helical intake port are affected by the inlet flow conditions, and especially they are much affected by the length of a manifold runner and the rotational angle of a curved manifold runner.

  • During cold operation period, fuel injection system directly contributes the unburned hydrocarbon formation in spark ignition engines. The relationship between injection parameters and HC emission behavior was investigated through a series of experiments. Spray behavior of port fuel injectors was characterized through a quantitative evaluation of mass concentration of liquid fuel by a patternator and PDA. 6-hole injector was found to produce finer spray than single hole one. Using a purpose-built test rig, the wall wetting fuel was measured, which was mostly affected by wall temperature. Varying coolant temperature($20{\sim}80^{\circ}C$), HC emissions were measured in a production engine. With respect to the different types of injectors, HC emission was also measured. In the 6-hole injector application, the engine produced less HC emission in low coolant temperature region. Though it produces much more amount of wetting fuel, it has the advantages of finer atomization quality. In high coolant temperature region, there was little effect between different types of injectors. The control schemes to reduce HC emissions during cold start could be suggested from the findings that the amount of fuel supply and HC emission could be reduced by utilizing fine spray and high intake wall temperature.

  • The impingement of the fuel spray on the wall within the combustion chamber in compact high-pressure injection engines and on the intake port wall in port-fuel-inje- ction type engines is unavoidable. It is important to understand the characteristics of impinging spray because it influences on the rate of fuel evaporation and droplet distrib- ution etc. In this study, the numerical study for the characteristics of spray/wall interaction is performed to test the applicability and reliability of spray/wall impingement models. The impingement models used are stick model, reflect model, jet model and Watkins and Park's model. The head of wall-jet eminating radilly outward from the spray impingement site contains a vortex. Small droplets are deflected away from the wall by the stagnation flow field and the gas wall-jet flow. While the larger droplets with correspondingly higher momentum are impinged on the wall surface and them are moved along the wall and are rolled up by wall-jet vortex. Using the Watkins and Park's model the predicted results show the most reasonable trend. The rate of increase of spread and the height of the developing wall-spray is predicted to decrease with increased ambient pressure(gas density).

DME/Diesel 듀얼 퓨얼 엔진의 연소 및 배출 특성에 관한 연구 (Research on the Combustion and Emission Characteristics of the DME/Diesel Dual-fuel Engine)

  • This study investigates the potential of DME/Diesel dual fuel engine for reducing emissions with same power. Dual fuel engine controls the combustion using two different fuels, DME and diesel with different auto-ignition timings. In the previous work, the caracteristics of combustion and emissions under single cylinder engine and ignition is done by compression ignition. Pre-mixture is formed by injecting low-pressure DME into an intake manifold and high-pressure fuel (diesel or DME) is injected directly into the cylinder. Both direct diesel injection and port fuel injection reduced the significant amount of Smoke, CO and NOx in the homogeneous charge compression ignition engine due to present of oxygen in DME. In addition, when injecting DME directly in cylinder with port DME injection, there is no changes in emissions and energy consumption rate even operated by homogeneous charge compression ignition.

  • 쓰레기 매립지에 발생하는 매립지가스(Landfill gas)를 대기 중으로 방출할 경우에 매립지가스에서 많은 부분을 차지하고 있는 지구온난화 지수(global warming potential)가 높은 메탄가스를 배출하게 되어 기후변화에 악영향을 주게 되고, 매립지가스에 함유되어 있는 메탄을 내연기관의 연료로 활용하여 연소하여 발전을 하게 되면 이산화탄소 형태로 대기 중으로 배출하게 되어 온난화 지수를 낮추는 데도 기여를 할 수 있게 된다. 따라서 매립지가스를 내연기관을 이용한 발전용 연료로 사용하기 위해서 엔진의 열효율을 높이는 것이 중요하기 때문에 기존의 믹서 방식 기술을 이용한 연료공급 방식보다는 실린더별로 흡기포트에서 전자 제어 인젝터를 이용하여 기체 분사를 하는 방식의 연료공급 시스템을 사용하는 것이 필요하게 된다. 따라서 전자 제어 기체 분사 방식 기술을 이용하기 위해서는 매립지가스의 사용 조건에 따른 질량 유량을 정확히 측정하는 것이 중요하게 된다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 매립지가스를 기체 분사할 경우에 분사량을 측정 및 계산하는 연구를 수행하였다.

  • 본 연구는 선회유동과 연소인자가 9.4L인 터보과급 디젤엔진의 성능과 배기가스특성에 미치는 영향을 실험적으로 고찰하였다. 일반적으로 디젤엔진의 연소과정에서 선회유동은 분사되고 있는 연료와 흡칩공기의 혼합을 촉진시켜 줌으로써 엔진성능을 향상시키는데 매우 중요한 인자가 된다. 특히 터보과급 디젤엔진에서는 실린더내의 고온.고압가스로 인하여 연비와 NO$_{x}$ 농도는 서로 상반관계를 가지므로 적절한 용량의 과급기선정으로 흡.배기시스템, 분사시스템 및 연소실의 설계 등을 고려할 필요가 있다. 본 연구의 결과로서, 정상유동실험을 통하여 선회비가 증가함으로써 평균유량계수가 감소하고, 반면에 걸프 펙터가 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 또한 엔진실험을 통하여 흡기포트의 선회비 2.43, 분사시기 BTDC 13$^{\circ}$ CA, 압축비 16, 리앤트란트 5$^{\circ}$형 연소실, 노즐분공경 $\Phi$0.28*6 및 과급기 GT40(압축기 A/R 0.58, 터빈 A/R 1.19)의 적용인자가 최적의 성능 및 배기가스를 만족시킬 수 있었다.

발전용 대형 디젤 엔진의 천연가스-디젤혼소 운전 특성에 대한 수치해석 연구 (A Numerical Study on Performance of a Heavy-Duty Diesel engine for Power Generation under Natural Gas-Diesel Dual Fuel Operation)

  • 본 연구는 발전용 디젤 엔진을 천연가스/디젤 혼소 엔진으로 개조하기 위한 선행 연구로 1.5MW급 발전용 디젤 엔진을 대상으로 상용 프로그램인 GT-Power를 이용해 수치해석을 진행하였다. 흡기 포트에 천연가스 분사 장치를 추가한 수치해석 모델을 통해 기존 엔진에서 천연가스와 디젤을 혼소시킬 경우 엔진 성능에 미치는 영향과 특성에 대해 분석하였다. 엔진 속도 720RPM, 혼소율 0%~40%까지 5개 조건에서 수치해석을 진행했다. 연구 결과 혼합 연소 시 천연가스의 비율이 증가할수록 출력이 감소하는 경향을 보였으며 혼소율 40%에서 출력이 18.4% 감소하였다. 이에 따라 실험계획법(Design of Experiment)을 통해 연료 분사시기와 연료 분사 기간에 대한 영향을 분석했다. 또한 이러한 영향을 고려해 연료 분사시기와 분사기간을 최적화시켜 혼소 엔진 출력과 디젤 엔진의 출력을 비교하여 혼소엔진으로의 개조에 따른 엔진의 출력과 효율에 대한 변화를 정량적으로 도출하였다. 그 결과 혼소율 40%에서 엔진 출력은 8.55% 감소하여 최적화 이전에 비해 12.5%의 개선 효과를 보였다.

흡기포트 분사방식의 가솔린 엔진에서 급가속시 연료 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fuel Transport Characteristics in a Port Fuel Injected Sl Engine during Transient Condition)

  • In this paper, the fuel transport characteristics during transient condition was studied by using a Fast Response Flame Ionization Detector(FRFID). The quantitative measurement method for the inducted fuel mass into cylinder is studied. The inducted fuel mass into the cylinder was estimated by using calculated air-fuel ratio by hydrocarbon concentration of cylinder and air flow model. In order to estimate the transportation of injected fuel from the intake port into cylinder, the wall wetting fuel model was used. The two coefficient $\alpha$,$\beta$) of the wall-wetting fuel model was determined from the measured fuel mass that was inducted into the cylinder at the first cycle after injection cut-off To reduce an air/fuel ratio fluctuation during rapid throttle opening, the appropriate fuel injection rate was obtain from the wall wetting model with empirical coefficients. Result of air/fuel ratio control, air/fuel excursion was reduced.
