This study examined the perceptions of health literacy on inpatient and outpatient patients among nurses currently in the field. The study participants consist of ten nurses working for general hospitals in Seoul and Busan. The data was collected from focus group interviews and all interviews were recorded and transcribed. Data were analyzed by using the content analysis method. Nurses recognized that there was a difference in the patient's health literacy level according to the patient's age, education, income level, underlying disease, and emotional state. This study suggests implementing 1) education programs to increase nurses' awareness of the importance of health literacy, to make accurate assessments of patent level of health literacy and communicate with them accordingly, and 2) support system for patients with poor health literacy.

The purpose of this study is to make recommendations for developing a Metaverse platform for educational purpose by utilizing focus group interviews with elementary, middle, and high school teachers having experience on metaverse in teaching. 10 teachers participated in the study, and data was collected for two months from January to February in 2022, and two focus groups were formed and interviewed. Data was analyzed by applying content analysis. The results showed that there were 17 sub-themes derived from 6 main guiding questions(What are the advantages of using Metaverse platform in education? What are the advantages of utilizing Metaverse as one of educational software? What are the possible and appropriate classes utilizing Metaverse in future education? What are the possible problems when using Metaverse in education? What are the essential functions which Metaverse should have in education? and Could you provide us with policy recommendations in building Metaverse platform for educational purpose?). Finally, based on the results, recommendations for building Metaverse platform for educational purpose are suggested and limitations of the study and possible future study are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to establish the concept of self - management in university athletes through two integrated research methods as an open-ended questionnaire and focus group interview. Data collection was conducted with open questionnaire for 157 athletes attending in Seoul Gyeonggi-do university and the 14 university athletes were collected data by focus group interview. Results from a series of research procedures are as follow. First, the result of open-ended questionnaire's inductive content analysis, university athletes' self management included 8 general sectors such as life management, training management, competitive management, emotion management, study management, interpersonal management, goal(motivation) management, equipment management. Second, in the focus group interview results, inductive content analysis was more properly supported, and interviews focused on sports field were deeply derived. The results of this study will be used as a basic data to establish strategies for successful athletes' life and develop to university athletes' self management.

The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of choice theory focus group work on improving housewives' mental health. To achieve this goal. the book 'Warning: Psychiatry can be hazardous to your mental health' was utilized as a media to educate and debate. The subjects for the study were 24 housewives divided by 2 group. The instrument utilized were the Korean versions of Trait Anger Scale, Trait Anxiety Scale, Beck Depression Inventory, and Psychological Well-Being Scale. The participants were asked to complete the instruments before, after and in 5 weeks after the program. The results were as follows: First, Choice Theory Focus Group Work decreased trait anger, trait anxiety and depression compared to control group. Second, Choice Theory Focus Group Work increased Psychological Well-Being Scale compared to control group. The effect of the program was significant in improving mental health of the housewives and the effect was maintained up to 5 weeks after the program. The results of this study implied that Choice Theory Focus Group Work could be effective in improving mental health.

본 연구에서는 실감공간에 대한 청소년의 반응을 바탕으로 향후 기술 개발 방향에 대한 조언을 하기 위하여 총 41명의 학생을 대상으로 소집단 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 시행하였다. 청소년들이 자주 사용하는 미디어의 종류와 이유, 미디어 사용에서 느끼는 불편한 점, 그들이 상상하는 미래형 미디어의 모습과 실감공간기술에 대한 반응을 묻고, 그 결과를 유형화하였다. 연구 결과 포커스 그룹 인터뷰 참가자들은 자주 사용하는 미디어로 휴대폰과, 인터넷, MP3, 활자 매체 등을 꼽았다. 활자매체의 장점으로는 높은 몰입도를, 인터넷의 장점으로는 편리한 인터페이스, 핸드폰의 장점으로는 이동성이 제기되었다. 그러나 핸드폰과 관련하여 청소년들은 불편한 인터페이스, 작은 용량과 빨리 닳는 배터리를 단점으로 지적했고 뉴미디어 공통적으로 느린 속도, 미디어에 의존하게 되는 강박증적 증세, 사생활 침해의 문제와 대인관계유지에 있어서의 부작용, 높은 이용료 등의 문제가 제기되었다. 이들은 일상생활이 미디어 이용에 의해 방해받고 있으며 미디어 이용으로 인해 불필요한 '필요'가 생겨나고 있다고 지적했다. 미래형 미디어에 대한 바람은 기존 미디어의 단점이 보완, 개선되는 측면에서 제시되었다. 더욱 편리해진 인터페이스와 기존 뉴미디어의 장점이 접목되는 방향의 미디어 통합도 요청되었다. 그러나 실감공간기술에 대해서는 긍정적인 반응보다는 부정적인 반응을 수적으로 우세해 주목을 끌었다. 진화된 형태의 미디어에 대해 긍정적인 반응을 보일 것이라는 예상과는 달리 실감공간기술이 기존의 면 대 면 대인관계를 파괴할 것이며 사생활을 침해하고 건강에 부정적인 영향을 미칠 것이라는 등의 거부감과 공포를 구체적으로 피력한 것이다. 이러한 두려움(fear)은 선행연구에 따르면 사람들이 새로운 매체에 대해 갖는 두려움과 이로부터 발생하는 두려움에 대한 대응은 혁명적 변화의 가능성을 억압하여 기존의 질서와 새로운 질서가 공존하는 기간을 늘림으로써 미시적 차원에서 단절적 역사의 경험을 완화시키는 기능을 하는 것으로 해석된다. 따라서 연구 결과 나타난 실감공간 기술에 대한 부정적인 반응도 이러한 맥락에서 해석될 수 있다. 즉 인터뷰 참가자들이 피력한 두려움은 뉴미디어 도입과 함께 반복되는 현상이며 이것은 새로운 현상이 아니다. 두려움은 기존 질서와 새로운 질서가 공존하는 기간을 연장시킴으로써 완충재로서 기능한다. 따라서 향후 기술 개발과 확산 과정에서 실감공간기술의 긍정적인 면모에 대한 적극적인 홍보가 필요하며 수용자들의 바람과 신기술에 대한 공포감을 이해하고 이를 기술 개발 방향 설정에 적극적으로 반영하는 자세가 요청된다고 하겠다.

This is a qualitative research that was carried out to analyze the childhood cancer survivors' perceived difficulties using the result of focus group interviews. This study conducted interviews with 22 childhood cancer survivors under follow-up management after cancer treatment at general hospitals in Korea. 22 persons were divided into 3 groups, and interviews were carried out with each group for 80-100 minutes. As a result of the research, four topic collections consisting of 'Physical limitation', 'Influence of lasting childhood cancer', 'Difficulty in forming relationships' and 'Lack of reliable information' and seven subjects, which consist of 'Lack of energy', 'Potential late-effects', 'Fears about cancer recurrence', 'Negative social awareness', 'Difficulty in interacting with', 'Difficulty in interacting with peers', and 'Difficulty in interacting with families' were derived. Based on the findings of this research, it is hoped that provides a basis for developing appropriate and effective services and programs for childhood cancer survivors.

The purpose of this study was to understand and describe nurses' recognition regarding successful aging of hospitalized elderly in long-term care hospitals. Data were collected using focus group interviews in 2016. Three focus group interviews were held in three long-term care hospitals, and a total of 14 nurses participated. All interviews were recorded and transcribed as they were spoken, and data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. A total of 25 concepts were identified, 15 subcategories, and five major categories emerged from the analysis. The five categories of the nurses' recognition about successful aging of hospitalized elderly in long-term care hospitals were "adjusting themselves to a lifestyle of long-term care hospital," "living positively in each situation," "communicating with each other and making a relationship," "obtaining interest and support of their families," and "maintaining economic independence". Therefore, further qualitative study will be performed and compared with this study results on successful aging of hospitalized elderly in long-term care hospitals. Moreover, based on these study results, it is necessary to develop and apply programs for successful aging of hospitalized elderly in long-term care hospitals.

Purpose: This study was designed to investigate various role changes of nurses who have cared both medical cases and hospice patients and what they experienced. Methods: Focus group interviews were done 3 times and participants were 12 nurses who have worked in the hospice unit of medical ward. Results: Role changes in 4 areas such as holistic care, end-of-life care, care fur rare givers, and coordination of hospice team were reported by the participants. What they felt were as follows : fear, confusion, maturation, increasingly labor, regret, accomplishment, sympathy and depression. Conclusion: Although hospice care in general medical ward added extra tasks, it helped clinical nurses recover professional identity and led to growth of nursing by acquiring new knowledge and skill in hospice care.

This study investigated the needs assessment of health education for adults with lately visual impairments. Focus group interview was conducted two times with 10 participants(4~6 participants/each). Most subjects addressed to have interest in social support group; health promotion behavior including exercise and having a positive mind; taking the medicine/supplements. Preferred contents of health education for adults with lately visual impairments were overcoming the depression, various exercise, maintaining of the healthy vascular, overcoming the insomnia, joint health, and diet which was different according to subject's health status. Also, care giver education was needed to help the subject to be independent on the activity daily living. These findings will be used to develop the design of health education programs for adults with visual impairments.

This study is a qualitative study in which a focus group interview is applied to explore nursing students' perception of blended learning. 21 students in the 4th grade of nursing department were divided into 4 groups to collect data through interviews and content analysis was conducted. As a result of the study, it was categorized into four topics: 'Application and operation that are not thoroughly prepared', 'Loss of direction and departure from learning', 'One-way listening', and 'Convenience'. Students were satisfied with blended learning which is free from time and space constraints and repetitive, but felt inadequacy and unsatisfactoriness about quality of online contents, system, and preparation for applying blended learning. In order to apply blended learning in the future nursing classes, high-quality online content should be developed based on the effective design of online and offline classes considering the curriculum, and a systematic, administrative, financial, and institutional foundation to support online course should be prepared. In addition, a support system should be created to guide students' self-directed learning activities in online classes of blended learning.
