To interpret the seismic image precisely, random noises should be suppressed and the continuity of the image should be enhanced by using the appropriate smoothing techniques. Structure-Oriented Filter-Edge Preserving (SOF-EP) technique is one of the methods, that have been actively researched and used until now, to efficiently smooth seismic data while preserving the continuity of signal. This technique is based on the principle that diffusion occurs from large amplitude to small one. In a continuous structure such as a horizontal layer, diffusion or smoothing is operated along the layer, thereby increasing the continuity of layers and eliminating random noise. In addition, diffusion or smoothing across boundaries at discontinuous structures such as faults can be avoided by employing the continuity decision factor. Accordingly, the precision of the smoothing technique can be improved. However, in the case of the structure-oriented semblance technique, which has been used to calculate the continuity factor, it takes lots of time depending on the size of the filter and data. In this study, we first implemented the SOF-EP method and confirmed its effectiveness by applying it step by step to the field data. Next, we proposed and applied the corner response method which can efficiently calculate the continuity decision factor instead of structure-oriented semblance. As a result, we could confirm that the computation time can be reduced by about 6,000 times or more by applying the corner response method.
Actin and tropomyosin of Cryptosporidium muris were localized by immunogold labeling. Two kinds of antibodies for actin labeling were used. The polyclonal antibody to skeletal muscle (chicken back muscle) actin was labeled on the pellicle and cytoplasmic vacuoles of parasites. The feeder organelle has showed a small amount of polyclonal actin antibody labeling as well. Whereas the monoclonal antibody to smooth muscle (chicken gizzard muscle) actin was chiefly labeled on the filamentous cytoplasm of parasites. The apical portion of host gastric epithelial cell cytoplasm was also labeled by smooth muscle actin together. The polyclonal antibody to tropomyosin was much more labeled at C. muris than host cells, so it could be easily identified even with low magnification (${\times}2,000$). The tropomyosin was observed along the pellicle, cytoplasmic vacuoles, and around the nucleus also. The skeletal muscle type actin seems to play a role in various celluar functions with tropomyosin in C. muris; on the other hand, the smooth muscle type actin was located mainly on the filamentous cytoplasm and supported the parasites firm attachment to host cells. Tropomyosin on the pellicle was thought to be able to stimulate the host as a major antigen through continuous shedding out by the escape of sporozoites or merozoites from their mother cells.
The neurogenic responses of tracheal smooth muscles to electrical field stimulation (EFS) is biphasic, consisting firstly of cholinergic contraction followed by a slow and sustained relaxation. It is well known that a sustained relaxation involves the inhibitory non-adrenergic non-cholinergic systems. This study was done to Investigate the relaxing agents and their action mechanisms by use of an organ bath with plati- ilum . The tracheal smooth muscle relaxation due to EFS was suppressed by L-NAME, the WO (Nitric Oxide) synthase inhibitor, and these effects were reversed by L-arginine, the precursor of NO. Also, L-WAME (HG-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester) increased the basal tension. Nitroprusside, the NO-donor, suppressed the tracheal basal tension greatly. Methylene blue, the inhibitor of guanylate cyclase, decreased EFS-induced relaxations and increa ed basal tension. Forskolin and isoprenaline, which are activators of adenylate cyclase, suppressed tracheal basal tension in the same way as nitroprusside. TEA (tetraethylammonium), the non-specific K'channel blocker, and apamin, the Ca"-activated K'channel blocker, increased tracheal basal tension and EFS-induced relaxations. Our results indicate that Pr3 Is released upon stimulation of the NANC (Won Adrenergic Won Cholinergic) nerves in guinea-pig tracheal smooth muscle and that the release of NO related with the K+ channel, as well as the release of other inhibitory agents< e. g.)VIP (Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide), PHI (Peptide Histidine Isoleusine) > mediated via CAMP (cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate) may be Involved In sustained relaxation.
The mechanism of thin-film formation by Ionized Cluster Beam Deposition(ICBD) was investigated. A simulation program based on the Monte-Carlo method was developed in order to investigate the effects of the acceleration voltage, substrate temperature, activation energy for the surface migration, and critical nuclei size on grain size and surface roughness. Studies of the effect of kinetic energy of clusters on the film formation processes revealed that high acceleration voltage enhanced the surface-migration of adatoms and made it easier for an epitaxial film to be formed. The relaxation time of kinetic energy of adatoms increased with the substrate temperature, which in turn increased the grain size of the crystalline film. This effect was more clearly distinguished when the critical nuclei size was large. The surface-migration activation energy was found to affect the interaction between the adatoms and the substrate and thus the relaxation time of kinetic energy. Investigations of the surface roughness revealed that the acceleration voltage, the substrate temperature, and the surface-migration activation energy exerted a collective effect on the morphology of the film surface.
This paper presents a new algorithm to the segmentation of the FISH images. First, for segmentation of the cell nuclei from background, a threshold is estimated by using the gaussian mixture model and maximizing the likelihood function of gray value of cell images. After nuclei segmentation, overlapped nuclei and isolated nuclei need to be classified for exact nuclei analysis. For nuclei classification, this paper extracted the morphological features of the nuclei such as compactness, smoothness and moments from training data. Three probability density functions are generated from these features and they are applied to the proposed Bayesian networks as evidences. After nuclei classification, segmenting of overlapped nuclei into isolated nuclei is necessary. This paper first performs intensity gradient transform and watershed algorithm to segment overlapped nuclei. Then proposed stepwise merging strategy is applied to merge several fragments in major nucleus. The experimental results using FISH images show that our system can indeed improve segmentation performance compared to previous researches, since we performed nuclei classification before separating overlapped nuclei.

The effect of substrate surface roughness and sintering temperature on the adhesion strength of Ag-based thick film conductors formed on AlN substrates with excellent thermal conductivity was studied. The adhesion strength of the thick-film conductor manufactured using an AlN substrate having a surface roughness (Ra) of 0.5 was higher than that of a thick-film conductor manufactured using a substrate having a surface roughness greater or smaller than this. In the case of a substrate with a surface roughness of less than 0.5, the contact area between the Ag thick film conductor and the substrate was relatively smaller than that of a substrate with a surface roughness of 0.5, resulting in a lower adhesive strength. On the other hand, when a substrate having a surface roughness of more than 0.5 was used, it was found that the conductor film was not completely adhered to the substrate, and as a result, it was found that the adhesive strength was small. In addition, it was found that the surface smoothness of the Ag-based thick film conductor film obtained by sintering at 850℃ was the best compared to the smoothness of the conductor film obtained by sintering at different sintering temperatures, and as a result, it was found that the adhesive strength of the conductor film was the highest.
The leaf morphological and anatomical characters about 17 taxa of Aster and its allied taxa were investigated to estimate taxonomic values. Leaf shapes of the treated taxa were divided into five types; elliptic, spathulate, lanceolate, linear, ovatodeltoid. These types were fixed in same taxa, but variable among different taxa, therefore useful as taxonomic character. Leaf margins were divided into four types; entire, serrate, dentate, incised, these types were invariable in most taxa, but variable among individual in same taxa such as Kalimeris incise, Aster spathulifolius. The size and shape of leaf epidermal cell, the size and distributional numbers per 10$\textrm{mm}^2$ of stomata, deposit feature of cuticle were not distinguished clearly from treated taxa, but presence of stomata on adaxial surface, size and distributional numbers per 10$\textrm{mm}^2$ of stomata were useful taxonomic characters in some taxa such as Gymnaster koraiensis, Aster altaicus var. uchiyamae, Aster tripolium, Heteropappus arenarius. The leaf trichomes were divided into five types by basic form, sculpturing on their outer surface and cell arrangement; uniseriate granulate conical type, uniseriate psilate conical type, uniseriate psilate filiform type, globular type, biseriate vesicular capitate type. In spite of various habitat, basic morphology of trichomes were not changed, therefore, it was thought to be good taxonomic character.
There are some evidence for the presence of more than one type of calcium channels. To investigate whether organic calcium antagonist sensitive calcium channels exist in the isolated sarcolemmal membrane, we prepared high KCl-loaded sarcolemmal vesicle from the procine small instine, and induced calcium transport by high $K^+$ concentration or by electrical stimulation after preincubation of KCl-loaded vesicle in the low potassium solution. Calcium transport induced by high $K^+$ concentration (84.7mM) was significantly increased (p<0.05), compared with that by low $K^+$ concentration (2.08 mM), and not inhibited by diltiazem $(10^{-6}\;M)$. Calcium transport was inactivated with time. By continuous electrical stimulation (3V, 15Hz, 25m see), calcium transport was markedly increased, and inhibited significantly by dilltiazem $(10^{-6}\;M)$ and nifedipine $(10^{-6}\;M)$ (p<0.005), compared with the value of control without electrical stimulation. Calcium transport by electrical stimulation was not inactivated with time for at least 2 min. From these results, it was concluded that there was organic calcium antagonist sensitive channel in the isolated intestinal sarcolemma membrane, which was activated by electrical stimulation.

Baseline correction is very important due to influence on performance of spectral analysis in application of spectroscopy. Baseline is often estimated by parameter selection using visual inspection on analyte spectrum. It is a highly subjective procedure and can be tedious work especially with a large number of data. For these reasons, it is an objective and automatic procedure is necessary to select optimal parameter value for baseline correction. Asymmetrically reweighted penalized least squares (arPLS) based on penalized least squares was proposed for baseline correction in our previous study. The method uses a new weighting scheme based on the generalized logistic function. In this study, we present an automatic selection of optimal parameter for baseline correction using arPLS. The method computes fitness and smoothness values of fitted baseline within available range of parameters and then selects optimal parameter when the sum of normalized fitness and smoothness gets minimum. According to the experimental results using simulated data with varying baselines, sloping, curved and doubly curved baseline, and real Raman spectra, we confirmed that the proposed method can be effectively applied to optimal parameter selection for baseline correction using arPLS.
