고귀하고 순결했던 선비들의 모습에 종종 비유되었던 백로는 평택시의 시조이기도 하다. 또한 평화를 상징하는 터라 평택의 넓은 평야와 드넓은 하늘 아래에서 근심 걱정 없이 살아가는 순박한 평택인들과도 딱 들어 맞는다. 조용한 듯하지만 평택은 지금 국제화 중심도시로 거듭나기 위한 큰 움직임을 분비 중이다. 그 중에 선진 수도행정을 보여주는 평택시 상하수도사업소 역시 늘 분주하다.

In the glocal era, the competition becomes more intense in regional development centered around cities rather than countries. This suggests that increasing the city's unique charms through a positive city image can allow the city to gain a competitive edge in the competition for regional development. In this background, this study would contribute to improving the positive image of Pyeongtaek City, presenting the value and development direction of the image it would pursue, aiming to develop a promotional design for the improvement of the city image. As the details of the research, this study recognized the city image as an efficient means of public relations of the city from its concept and necessity. Thus, this study conducted a survey on the analysis of status and image of Pyeongtaek City. This study would contribute to improving the positive image of Pyeongtaek City, presenting the results of the development of a promotional design of its administration and a plan for utilization in the manual, proceeding by stages.

Recently, as a plan to improve the particulate matter and thermal environment in the city, urban forests acting as wind ventilation corridor(wind ventilation forest) are promoted nationwide. This study analyzed the conditions for the creation of wind ventilation forest(vulnerable areas of the particulate matter and thermal environment, distribution of wind ventilation forest, characteristics of ventilation corridor) of in Pyeongtae-si, one of the target cities of wind ventilation forest project. Based on the results, the direction of developing on the wind ventilation forest in Pyeongtaek-si was suggested. As a result of deriving areas vulnerable to particulate matter and thermal environment, it was most vulnerable in urban areas in the eastern area of Pyeongtaek-si. Especially, emissions were high from industrial complexes and roads such as the Pyeongtaek-si thermal power plant, ports, and the national road no. 1. The wind ventilation forest in Pyeongtaek-si was distributed with small-scale windgenerating forests, wind-spreading forests, and wind-connection forests fragmented and disconnected. The characteristic of the overall wind ventilation corridor in Pyeongtaek-si is that the cold air generated from Mt.Mubong, etc., strongly flowed into Pyeongtaek-si and flowed in the northwest direction. Therefore, it is necessary to preserve and expand the wind-generating forests in Pyeongtaek-si in the long term, and it was important to create wind-spreading forests and wind-connection forests so that cold air could flow into the vulnerable area. In addition, in industrial complexes and roads where particulate matter is generated, planting techniques should be applied to prevent the spread of particulate matte to surrounding areas by creating wind-spreading forests considering the particulate matter blocking. This study can be used not only as the basis data for wind ventilation forest project in Pyeongtaek-si, but also as the basis data for urban forest creation and management.

In order to prepare basic data for research on the protection of emotional workers in Pyeongtaek with the support of Pyeongtaek City, this study conducted a survey centered on 104 counselors classified as emotional laborers. Based on the results of the survey centered on 104 emotional workers, basic research data on the difficulties of emotional workers can be prepared, and protection methods for emotional workers who are currently interested in each local government can be found. As a result of selecting a sample centering on counselors in Pyeongtaek City for a survey on the actual condition of emotional workers, and conducting a survey based on the selected samples, it was found that emotional workers did not find their rights to human rights and were not protected even in the workplace. Currently, a bill to protect emotional workers is being announced, but it is not protected, so it is confirmed that system improvement is necessary. This study focused on 104 items that were significant through pre-processing among the recovered questionnaires. It was analyzed using SPSS, R, and it was confirmed that there is a need for a regulation that can provide an institutional device in Pyeongtaek City. In this study, it is judged that it is necessary to prepare a protective device for emotional workers by selecting more samples corresponding to the occupational group of emotional workers.

Pyeongtaek port, opened in 1986, has played a role as an international trading port. Pyeongtaek city which is a hinterland with Pyeongtaek port has both landscape of city and rural area. Aims of this study is investigating the regional change of Pyeongtaek city according to the opening of Pyeongtaek port: the change in population and land value by the average distance(27.3km) between Pyeongtaek port and each region and the change in industry and regional industry with location quotient of region. The increasing rate of population and people who work for industry showed an aspect of rising as a place locates near Pyeongtaek port, yet the increasing rate of land value showed little differences. In short, as the area is closer to Pyeongtaek port, the number of population and employees are higher. Yet, the increasing rate of the land value showed little difference. The study showed that manufacturing industry is specialized in rural region(eup myeon region), and tertiary industry is specialized in urban region(dong region) of Pyeongtaek city according to location quotient.

To estimate a proper fleet size of taxi, a daily archived tachograph was analyzed for both corporate taxi and owner-driver taxi. Mathematical model to estimate a desirable number of taxi was developed using city's characteristics of Pyeong-taek city case. This model could be used as coefficient of determination of city's characteristics model(revised R square) was 0.970. a total amount of taxi number in the future for the city of Pyeong-taek. As a result, the model produced a proper fleet size of Pyeong-taek city in the future as 1,794 taxis by 2014, which was higher in number by 214 taxis, compared to 2009. Also, the model of the service rate, considering operation condition, was used to analyze a total number of taxies. As a result, the model showed a total number of taxis as 1,224 taxis by 2014, which is lower in number by 356 taxies, compared to 2009. It is desirable to use both city's characteristics model and the service rate model to estimate a total number of taxis in conclusion. As a result of adopting average value from two model, the model produced a total supply plan of Pyeong-taek city as 1,509 taxis by 2014, which is smaller than in number by 71 taxis, compared to 2009.

본 연구는 저자가 2005년 평택시 문화상품 개발과정에 연구위원으로 참여하여 지역의 대표성을 가지는 디자인 고찰 과정을 살펴본 것이다. 연구목적은 고유문화재와 전통성을 바탕으로 한 상품 개발을 통한 인식 변화를 가져오는 것이다. 그리고 평택시의 문화성립 및 자긍심 고양 및 지역 위상을 확립하는 것이다. 또한, 국 내외 관광객 유치 및 지역 문화 알리기의 기반 마련하는 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 대표적 문화 상품의 개발을 통하여 도시 이미지 확산을 고려하는 것이다. 구체적으로는 평택농악(전통악기, 뱃지, 키홀더등), 문구사무용품(서류함, 책갈피, 시계, 키홀더), 생활용품 (컵받침, 탁상용 저금통, 북, 명함), 장식용품(주방용품등 문화관련 상품들을 개발) 등으로 세분화하여 조사 하였다. 연구 개발 과정을 통하여 도시브랜드 디자인 개발사례로 디자인 적용안을 도출하였다. 그 결과 지역의 도시브랜드 확립을 위한 결론이 선행되어야 한다는 아홉가지 결론을 구체화 할 수 있었다.

Pyeongtaek is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing cities in Korea. It is expected that Pyeongtaek will be fostered as one of the most technologically advanced cities with over one million residents in ten years, in transit from the current status of an urban and rural multi-functional city. As a consequence of the change, it is also anticipated to embrace problems related to environmental pollution. The current study investigates perceptions and attitudes of Pyeongtaek citizens towards the natural environment and the conservation of nature. A survey of the environmental perception was conducted with 700 people from the city. The data was analyzed by SPSS 12.0. Findings of the survey demonstrate that Pyeontaek citizens, overall, are interested in environmental issues; they also expect the city to be prosperous without nature destruction. Based upon the results, the study describes the current status of the areas which the citizens consider as most crucial; further, it makes practical suggestions for ways of conserving the environment for the future.
