This study performs a daily long-term runoff analysis for 30 years to forecast medium- and long-term probabilistic reservoir inflows on the Soyang River basin. Snowmelt is computed by Anderson's temperature index snowmelt model and potenetial evaporation is estimated by Penman-combination method to produce input data for a rainfall-runoff model. A semi-distributed TOPMODEL which is composed of hydrologic rainfall-runoff process on the headwater-catchment scale based on the original TOPMODEL and a hydraulic flow routing model to route the catchment outflows using by kinematic wave scheme is used in this study It can be observed that the time variations of the computed snowmelt and potential evaporation are well agreed with indirect observed data such as maximum snow depth and small pan evaporation. Model parameters are calibrated with low-flow(1979), medium-flow(1999), and high-flow(1990) rainfall-runoff events. In the model evaluation, relative volumetric error and correlation coefficient between observed and computed flows are computed to 5.64% and 0.91, respectively. Also, the relative volumetric errors decrease to 17% and 4% during March and April with or without the snowmelt model. It is concluded that the semi-distributed TOPMODEL has well performance and the snowmelt effects for the long-term runoff computation are important on the study area.
It may be difficult to make exact estimates of peak discharge or runoff depth of a flood and to establish the proper measurement for the flood protection since water stages or discharges have been rarely measured at small river basins in Korea. Three small catchments in the Su-Young river basin in Pusan were selected for the study areas. Various runoff parameters for the study areas were determined, and runoff analyses were performed using three different runoff models available in literatures; the storage function method, the discrete, linear, input-output model, and the linear reservoir model. The hydrographs calculated by three different methods showed good agreement with the observed flood hydrographs, indicating that the models selected are all capable of sucessfully modeling the flood events for small watersheds. The storage function method gave the best results in spite of its weakness that it could not be applicable to small floods, while the linear reservoir model was found to provide relatively good results with less parameters. The capabilities of simulating flood hydrographs were also evaluated based on the effective rainfall from the storage function parameters, the $\Phi$-index method, and the constant percentage method. For the On-Cheon stream watershed, the storage function parameters provided better estimates of effective rainfall for regenerating flood hydrographs than any others considered in the study. The $\Phi$-index method, however, resulted in better estimates of effective rainfall for the other two study areas.
Purpose: We conducted this study to evaluate the role of dacryoscintigraphy in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric patients with epiphora. Materials and Methods: In 58 patients aged from 2 months to 15 years (mean age $2.8{\pm}2.3$ years), dacryoscintigraphy was performed using a gamma camera with 4 mm pinhole collimator. We correlated symptoms with dacryosicntigraphic findings in all patients. In 37 patients who underwent ophthalmologic procedures, we analyzed the agreements of dacryoscintigraphic findings with the operation. Results: High rates of agreements between epiphora and obstruction on dacryoscintigraphy (69/72, 95.8%), and between scintigraphic obstructive findings and operation sites (44/47, 93.6%) were noted. Nine of foully-four (20.5%) asymptomatic eyes showed obstructive findings on dacroscintigraphy. Conclusion: In pediatric patients with epiphora, dacryoscintigraphy is a useful tool not only in diagnosing nasolacrimal duct obstruction but also in making a decision for therapeutic procedures.
Through manifestation of the principles of commodity production spatial sharing of labour can be observed in the agriculture as well as in cattle production. Better adjustment of the production structure to the environment factors brings higher yields and more effective production. In being able to maximize the profit the entrepreneurs opt for producing output that closely matches to their featuring conditions. In contrary to the relatively high "mobility" of crop production animal husbandry and within this cattle production - as known - is strictly chained to forage production. On the basis of our economic research and as a result of multivariable analysis(factor analysis) it can be concluded that two variable groups(factors) are highly dominant in organizing profitable cattle production. First of them is the crop site factor (indicated by gold crown value), the second is the forage production feature(forage and grassland area and the yield of them). During recent years the weight of environmental factors suffered from devaluation. As a result of the central economic administration differentiating effects were suppressed and the chances of equalizing concepts strengthened. The outcome can be observed even today. In the regions, for example, being predominantly suitable for grass and forage cropping the milk and slaughter cattle production decreased. The same is ture for com and pig production regions. Unexploitment of local environmental features can be observed mainly in grassland management. Branches being potential user of grasslands hardly take them into consideration. Main method of rational use of grasslands is pasturing. Presence of pastures and the usage of them through cattle production is highly important not only for profitable production but also for maintaining ecological stability.
The telemetry of eight adult manchurian trouts (Brachymystax lenok tsinlingensis) in the upper part of the Nakdong River, which is the southern limit of distribution of manchurian trout on the Korean peninsula, was used to examine migration patterns and evaluate characteristics of over-wintering and the spawning season between December, 2007 and May, 2008. Based on the tracking data, the tagged fish showed a limited migration between adjacent pools, moving only up to $8.6m\;day^{-1}$ during the winter season (December to February). Hydraulic conditions of over-wintering pool areas were, ca. 1m depth, slow moving surface water with areas of sand and gravel. The migration of tagged individuals was successful, moving up to $96.2m\;day^{-1}$ during the spawning season. Two tagged individuals (BL4, BL6) exhibited upstream migration, whereas others showed downstream movements. The timing of upstream migration of the two individuals was consistent with an increasing phases of water level and discharge. The fishes migrating toward the down stream moved to the wide pool areas downstream, where they spent the summer season for the growth.

The present study introduces a method to parallelize k-means clustering algorithm for fast unsupervised classification of large satellite imagery. Known as a representative algorithm for unsupervised classification, k-means clustering is usually applied to a preprocessing step before supervised classification, but can show the evident advantages of parallel processing due to its high computational intensity and less human intervention. Parallel processing codes are developed by using multi-threading based on OpenMP. In experiments, a PC of 8 multi-core integrated CPU is involved. A 7 band and 30m resolution image from LANDSAT 8 OLI and a 8 band and 10m resolution image from Sentinel-2A are tested. Parallel processing has shown 6 time faster speed than sequential processing when using 10 classes. To check the consistency of parallel and sequential processing, centers, numbers of classified pixels of classes, classified images are mutually compared, resulting in the same results. The present study is meaningful because it has proved that performance of large satellite processing can be significantly improved by using parallel processing. And it is also revealed that it easy to implement parallel processing by using multi-threading based on OpenMP but it should be carefully designed to control the occurrence of false sharing.
To improve the breeding efficiency of oriental pear, heritability, correlation and frequency distribution of fruit ripening date were analyzed using 4,035 seedlings obtained from 15 families between 13 parental cultivars. Although variation of fruit ripening time was higher in most early-ripening parental cultivars than in late-ripening parental cultivars, according to analysis of average, standard deviation, and coefficient of ripening variation for ten years, fruit ripening time obtained from all parental cultivars was inherited narrower and more stable variation than others fruit trait, with 0.92-3.41 in coefficient of variation. The heritability of fruit ripening time was calculated to be over 0.8 in almost all crosses and average fruit ripening time of seedlings from cross combinations could be predicted based on that of the parental cultivars due to its superior heritability relative to other fruit traits. The average ripening time was earlier than the mid-parental value in families obtained from cross combinations using at least one late-ripening cultivar as parent, indicating that the early-ripening trait was more likely to be dominant compared to the late-ripening trait. By contrast, average ripening time was clustered in families of crosses not only between mid-season and early-season cultivars, but also between mid-season and mid-season cultivars. There was highly significant relationship (at 0.68) between mid-parental and progeny mean fruit ripening time. The correlation between fruit ripening time and fruit weight was also highly positive and thus, the mid-parental fruit ripening time could be a potent criterion for indirect selection of fruit weight.
The effect of sub-grid turbulence and combustion models on the mean flame height in a heptane pool fire according to the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) version (5 and 6) based on Large Eddy Simulation (LES) was examined. The heat release rate for the fire simulation was provided through experiments performed under identical conditions and the predictive performance of the mean flame height according to FDS version was evaluated by a comparison with the existing correlation. As a result, the Smagorinsky and Deardorff turbulence models applied to FDS 5 and 6, respectively, had no significant effects on the mean flow field, flame shape and flame height. On the other hand, the difference in pool fire characteristics including the mean flame height was due mainly to the difference in the mixture fraction and Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) combustion models applied to FDS 5 and 6, respectively. Finally, compared to FDS 6, FDS 5 provided the predictive result of a significantly longer flame height and more consistent mean flame height than the existing correlation.
The sport industry has been continuing to grow in the past few decades in the U.S., and it presents significant opportunities for the practitioners to increase the number of patrons. To convert this opportunity to optimum benefits for a sport organization, one of the most significant challenges for the practitioners would be promoting sport attendance and repatronage. So far, many studies have tried to identify variables that affect the level of sports attendance. However, many of these variables are rather uncontrollable due to the nature of the sports and contingencies that are derived from many areas of uncertainties. Thus, to acquire competitive advantage and profit maximization, it would be essential for the managers to focus on understanding controllable elements. This study found that many controllable variables that influence sports attendance coincide with the servicescape elements which have been widely used in the hospitality industry since 1992. In the light of the conceptual framework of servicescape, this study also attempted to isolate the controllable variables that can be utilized to increase the sports attendance. This study presents its significance not only in extending the application of servicescape concept to the sport industry, but also in providing suggestions for future empirical studies that would further identify these variables, gauge the relationship between those variables, and assess its impact on the sports attendance.

Site characteristic is an important input parameter in the geologic hazard assessments including, but not limited to, earthquakes, liquefaction and landslides. Although it is a routine to use data collected by boreholes or seismic prospecting for site classifications, we used indirect methods using the geologic and the topographic maps. A site classification map in the Gyeongsang Province has been produced by GIS tools based on geologic age, rock types, and elevations from the geologic map and the topographic map of Korea. Site B (rock site) is dominant in the study area, although softer soils are observed along rivers and in reclaimed lands. We have found that 73% of the site classification results in the study are in concordance with those obtained from borehole data. Observed discrepancies are attributed to errors in the geologic and the topographic maps. For some sites, the origin of the differences is not clear, which requires a further field study or a drilling. Site classification from this study provides essential information for reliable hazard assessments of earthquakes, floods, landslides and liquefaction. Results obtained in the study also play a crucial role in land use planning for developing areas.
