A Survey of Perception Differences Among University Students, Professors, and Practitioners on the Construction Technologies in the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4차산업혁명 건설기술에 대한 학생, 교수, 실무종사자 인식차이 조사)

  • Recently, the fourth industrial revolution has a great influence on the development of many industries as well as the construction industry. Various technologies related to the industrial revolution 4.0, such as AI and big data, have gained much attention. However, little has been known about the importance and preparedness of stakeholders of the construction industry in Korea for the industry 4.0 technologies so far. This study revealed how the stakeholders perceive and prepare for industry 4.0 using a survey. In addition, collaboration potential score for each technology was calculated to find technologies with high potential for collaboration. Result is that the importance of the technologies was evaluated high in overall, but the preparedness and implementation in university education or business was evaluated low. Technologies with high potential for industry-university collaboration are AI/big data and 3D printing/3D scanning. This study can contribute to the training of industry 4.0 experts and improving preparedness, which would enable the innovation and application of industry 4.0 technologies in the construction industry.

User Perception of Personal Information Security: An Analytic Hierarch Process (AHP) Approach and Cross-Industry Analysis (기업의 개인정보 보호에 대한 사용자 인식 연구: 다차원 접근법(Analytic Hierarch Process)을 활용한 정보보안 속성 평가 및 업종별 비교)

  • The increasing integration of intelligent information technologies within organizational systems has amplified the risk to personal information security. This escalation, in turn, has fueled growing apprehension about an organization's capabilities in safeguarding user data. While Internet users adopt a multifaceted approach in assessing a company's information security, existing research on the multiple dimensions of information security is decidedly sparse. Moreover, there is a conspicuous gap in investigations exploring whether users' evaluations of organizational information security differ across industry types. With an aim to bridge these gaps, our study strives to identify which information security attributes users perceive as most critical and to delve deeper into potential variations in these attributes across different industry sectors. To this end, we conducted a structured survey involving 498 users and utilized the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to determine the relative significance of various information security attributes. Our results indicate that users place the greatest importance on the technological dimension of information security, followed closely by transparency. In the technological arena, banks and domestic portal providers earned high ratings, while for transparency, banks and governmental agencies stood out. Contrarily, social media providers received the lowest evaluations in both domains. By introducing a multidimensional model of information security attributes and highlighting the relative importance of each in the realm of information security research, this study provides a significant theoretical contribution. Moreover, the practical implications are noteworthy: our findings serve as a foundational resource for Internet service companies to discern the security attributes that demand their attention, thereby facilitating an enhancement of their information security measures.

Survey of elementary school teachers' perceptions of the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum (2022 개정 수학과 교육과정에 대한 초등학교 교사들의 인식 조사)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify the expected difficulties and necessary support when applying the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum to elementary schools, and to support the establishment of the field. To this end, we explored the major changes in the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum, and based on this, we conducted a survey of elementary school teachers to identify the expected difficulties and necessary support when applying it in the field. In particular, when analyzing the results, we also examined whether there were any differences in the expected difficulties and necessary support depending on the size of the school where it is located and the teaching experience of the teacher. The research results are as follows. First, the proportion of teachers who expect difficulties in applying the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum was mostly below 50%, but the proportion of teachers who demand support was much higher, at around 80%. Second, the difficulty of elementary school teachers in applying the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum was found to be the greatest in evaluation. Third, in relation to the use of edutech, teachers in elementary schools are also expected to have difficulties in teaching and learning methods to foster students' digital literacy, assessment using teaching materials or engineering tools, and assessment in online environments. Fourth, the difficulty of elementary school teachers in applying the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum was also significant in relation to mathematics subject competencies. Fifth, it was found that there is also difficulty in understanding the major changes of the achievement standards, including the addition, deletion, and adjustment of the achievement standards, and the impact on the learning of other achievement standards. Finally, the responses of elementary school teachers to the expected difficulties and necessary support in applying the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum did not differ depending on the size of the school where it is located, but statistically significant differences were found in a number of items depending on the teaching experience of the teacher. Based on these research results, we hope that various support will be provided for the 2022 revised mathematics curriculum, which will be applied annually from 2024.

  • Electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) in social media has been recognized as one of the most influential marketing tools across various businesses. Understanding eWOM in social media is critical to reach potential global consumers easily and quickly in the hospitality industry. However, few empirical studies in hospitality attempted to evaluate the effectiveness of eWOM in social media from a global perspective. Given the competitive climate of the hospitality market, it is meaningful for hospitality marketers to evaluate the effectiveness of eWOM in social media and the influence of cultural factors to promote customers and increase profitability globally. The main purpose of this study was to examine the influence of cultural values on social media eWOM in the hospitality industry in China, Korea, and the USA. The result of this study indicates Chinese and American people engage more than Korean people when they try to purchase hospitality product and service This study particularly provided a cross-cultural study of comparison among these countries and the findings of this study are expected to provide important practical assistance for global marketing strategies in social media.

An Evaluation of Fiscal Policy Response to Economic Cycles (재정정책의 경기 대응에 대한 평가)

  • Two conditions should be satisfied if fiscal policy is to stabilize economic cycles; proper policy timing and significant policy effect. This paper evaluates whether the policy timing has been proper in Korea by investigating the correlation between fiscal policy stance and economic conditions. We first calculate quarterly FIs (Fiscal Impulse) using the estimated potential GDP and fiscal balance data. Based on these indices, we 1) analyze how FIs respond to the economic conditions summarized in GDP gap through regression analysis, 2) compare average FIs in expansionary and recessionary periods according to the NSO's economic cycles, 3) evaluate fiscal policy maker's perception of economic conditions and its intention by reviewing the budget proposals. Although regression analysis shows that overall fiscal policy, especially expenditure side, has properly responded to economic conditions, average FIs do not show the significant difference between expansionary and recessionary periods. It is inconclusive whether the fiscal policy timing has been proper. Budget proposals show that actual fiscal policy stance has been sometimes inconsistent with the policy intention, which implies that it is hard to utilize fiscal policy actively to stabilize the economy.

  • Recently, as we move toward a society with an increasingly aged population, wearable U-health devices in various shapes with smart wear have been developed in order to conveniently measure health variables without using hands in daily life or at home. However, the problem is that only supply of the wearable U-health devices is focused and its applicable devices are studied and developed, which has resulted in lack of awareness of importance of performance evaluation. In this study, two electrodes were fabricated using conductive fabric which can be used as electrode if attached to wearable U-health devices or smart wear in order to measure ECG signal. Two electrodes those were fabricated using conductive fabric were compared the correlation, impedance and CMRR with patch typed Ag-AgCl electrode-normally used for measurement of ECG signal, so that the study would find out if the fabricated electrode can be used with the wearable U-health devices by testing and evaluating performances.

  • 자동차에서 실내음질은 구매결정 요소들 중의 하나로 그 중요성이 점차 증가하고 있다. 따라서 다양한 운전조건에서 운전자가 기대하는 실내음질의 기대 수준을 충족시켜야 한다. 소비자는 운전경험과 습관에 따라 기대하는 음질에 차이가 있고 소리에 대한 표현방식도 모호하기 때문에 이러한 주관적 특성을 하나의 통일된 표현으로 정의 하기가 어렵다. 그러나 지난 이십여 년 동안의 음질개발과 차량 실내소음 주관평가의 통계처리로 통일된 표현을 할 수 있었다. 나아가 심리음향학 및 신호처리기술의 발달과 꾸준한 음질연구결과로 소리특성을 객관적으로 나타내는 소리의 시각화가 가능하였으며, 운전자가 인식하는 주관평가와의 상관관계를 높여 차량의 대표적인 음질인자로 정량화하여 음질목표를 설정할 수 있었다. 실내소음의 구성은 엔진 투과음, 흡배기 소음, 바람 소음, 도로 기인 소음 등으로 다양하므로 소음원에 따라 음의 균형을 맞추어 조화로운 음질개발을 하는 것이 중요했다. 또한 차량 판매되는 지역에 따라 선호음이 상이하여 지역별 실내음질의 차별화가 필요했다. 궁극적으로는 운전자의 감성품질을 만족할 수 있도록 음을 제어하여 브랜드 사운드를 개발하고 있다. 이러한 실내음질을 달성하기 위한 방법으로 소음원과 전달경로에 대해 기여도를 분석하고, 경로를 구성하는 시스템 별로 세분화하여 시스템 목표를 설정하였다. 시스템 개발에 중요한 인자로 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 성능을 들 수 있다. 특히 디젤차량의 비중이 큰 유럽업체의 차량의 동강성 및 흡차음 개발 능력은 높게 평가되고 있다. 이에 유럽의 부품전문회사가 가지고 있는 해석과 시험적인 개발 방법을 통하여 전달계 특성을 만족하기 위한 시스템의 동강성 및 흡차음 특성을 개발하고 있다. 차량음질 튜닝의 중요한 기법 중 하나로 흡배기 개발을 추진하고 있다. 친환경자동차인 하이브리드차량, 전기차량 및 연료전지차량의 경우 전기구동부품에서 발생하는 각종 이음 발생을 최소화 했다. 보행자를 보호하고 운전의 즐거움을 향상하기 위한 가상사운드 개발을 진행하고 있다. 회사 수익성 향상을 위한 원가절감 및 구조 경량화에 따른 음질악화와 연비 향상 및 배기가스 규제 강화로 고성능 고출력 엔진탑재에 따른 음질악화 요인을 극복해야 했다. 운전자의 청감은 차량의 운전성에 따라서도 크게 영향을 받게 되므로 엔진제어와 변속기제어를 통해 음질과 운전성이 조화를 이룰 수 있도록 개발하고 있다. 향후, 소음원에 따른 시스템 최적화 개발, 운전성과 음질 연계 개발과 친환경차량의 가상사운드 개발 등이 자동차 음질 개발의 중요한 이슈로 생각한다.

The Effect of Cultural Predictors on Perceived Ethicality of Negotiation Behavior A Comparison of 'Chemyon' and Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions (문화 변수가 협상 윤리에 미치는 영향 '체면'과 홉스테드 변수의 비교)

  • This study examined the effects of cultural factors and demographic factors on the perceived appropriateness and likelihood of using five categories of inappropriate negotiation strategies. Five categories of inappropriate negotiation strategies consist of traditional competitive bargaining, attacking opponent's network, false promises, misrepresentation of information and inappropriate information gathering. Two kinds of cultural variables, Hofstede's cultural dimensions and 'Chemyon' dimensions were used as universal, etic variables versus indigenous, emic variables. Survey result shows age and gender had significant effects only for traditional competitive bargaining, but gender and personal negotiation style did not have any effects for the inappropriate strategies. Hofstede's dimensions as well as Chemyon dimensions had significant effect for perceived inappropriateness and likelihood of using inappropriate strategies. While both Chemyon and Hofstede's dimensions were significant, Chemyon accounted for more variance than Hofstede dimensions in most cases. This suggests Chemyon's vital role in explaining Korean negotiators' perception and attitude towards inappropriate negotiation strategies. Implications of the results and future research are discussed.

Comparison of the Awareness of Garden Functions (정원 기능에 대한 인식 비교)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the difference in perceptions between gardens and park functions as recognized by two groups, Group A and Group B, in order to confirm the distinction between concepts and functions and then establish the importance of individual functions. The AHP was used to analyze the importance of each group's perceptions by dividing them into garden and park, Group A and non-Group A, respectively. In Group A, the importance of garden functions were considered in descending order of importance to be cultural function, ecological function, and social function. In the general group, ecological function, cultural function, and social function also appeared, but in a different order of importance. As for the park functions, Group A recognized the importance of functions in a similar order of importance to the gardens: cultural function, ecological function, and social function. Group B thought that social function, ecological function, and cultural function have the same significance. At the major classification level, Group A and Group B emphasized the social function of the parks. Group A recognized the importance of the garden's cultural function as the most important, whereas the general group emphasized the importance of the garden's ecological function. As for the mid-class level, Group A recognized the aesthetic beauty, health, ecological environment protection, and water circulation as important functions of the garden. For Group B, the ecological environment protection, aesthetic beauty, water cycle, and health were important. The concepts and functions of gardens and parks are still largely mixed but are gradually becoming differentiated. As a follow-up study, it is important to systematically manage the functions of gardens by establishing design, construction, and monitoring DB techniques for the garden type and examine the hierarchy of various other gardens.

Science Integrated Process Skill of the Students in Science Education Center for the Gifted (과학영재교육원 학생들의 과학 통합 탐구 능력)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate science integrated process skill of the students in science education center for the gifted. In order to do this, 'free-response test for the assessment of science process skills' developed by Yu-Hyang Kim(2013) was administered to 102 students(15 in elementary school science class, 58 in middle school science class I, and 29 in middle school science class II) who attend the program of science education center for the gifted in C university. The assessment tool measured 9 skills ; formulating inquiry questions, recognizing variables, formulating hypotheses, designing experiment, transforming data, interpreting data, drawing conclusions, formulating generalizations, and evaluating the designed experiments. As a result, the students in science education center for the gifted had relatively high scores in the area of 'formulating hypotheses' and 'recognizing variables', but they had relatively low scores in the area of 'transforming data', 'interpreting data', and 'evaluating the designed experiments'. The 2 items' percentage of correct answers were below 40% ; one is about a drawing a line graph in 'transforming data', and the other requires finding improvements of the experimental design in 'evaluation'. There was no significant difference between boys' scores and girls's one, and between the scores of students in the field of biology and those of students in the other fields(physics, chemistry, and earth science) in science integrated process skills. And there was significant difference according to the periods receiving the gifted education in 'formulating generalizations'. The teaching and learning has to focus on improving science integrated process skills in the program of science education center for the gifted and teaching and learning materials needs to be developed.
