  • Filtration characteristics according to membrane materials were studied In the ultrafiltration of anaerobic digestion broth as a post treatment method. A series of resistances for different membranes were quantitatively assessed on the basis of the resistance-in-series model. Flux behavior observed with the digestion broth was irrelevant to initial water permeabilities of each membrane. The fluoro polymer membrane showed the most significant improvement of flux with increase of cross-flow velocity, which suggests that the cake layer formed on this membrane is more weakly attached to the membrane surface than those on the other membranes. Flux reduction during longtime running was attrib-used to the polarization layer resistance ($R_p$) as well as the fouling layer resistance($R_f$). Continuous increase of $R_p$ may reflect the variation in the characteristics of cake layers, which could result from size, shape, and structure changes due to lysis and growth of biomass. Hydrophilic cellulosic membrane had a much lower fouling tendency than hydrophobic polysulfone membrane. The depressurization method induced a small increase in flux of $5-10L/m^2/h$. During washing and cleaning, filtrability of each membrane was rapidly recovered within 15 minutes until a stationary value was reached.

  • Based on a concept of soundscape, this study aims to investigate Koreans' preference for auditory elements, features, and impressions depending upon the season, and examine how these auditory factors of soundstape and seasons interact with each other and attempt to discover their influence on people's auditory preferences. According to an environmental psychological approach called the caption evaluation method, 45 college students examined the soundscape of Namwon City while racing the streets in four seasons. In order to analyze the interactions between seasons and such auditory factors as elements, features, and impressions, it was conducted the GLM univariate analysis and the NPAR tests for independent samples. The results of the analyses show that there are interactive effects between seasons and auditory factors like elements, features, and impressions and that the auditory factors have an effect on auditory preference. Moreover, as for seasonal preference for auditory elements, it was found that people prefer natural sound in spring, summer, and fall while they prefer social sound in winter. Concerning seasonal preference for auditory features, people place a focus on the behaviors in spring, summer, and winter while they stress the surroundings in autumn, as for seasonal preference for auditory impressions, they make much of sound characteristics in spring and winter but they value the atmosphere of streets in summer and fall. The results of this study can he utilized as useful data in determining which auditory factors among elements, features, and impressions to take into consideration in a soundscape design.

  • In this study, we investigate the effects of technology innovation investments and employment on credit ratings of very small start-up businesses using the data period of 2009 till 2015 test two hypotheses: asymmetric information hypothesis or competence hypothesis. We use financial and non-financial data of 51,903 observations of 12,028 small businesses from a database of a commercial bank and fixed effects panel models and two-stage instrumental variable models. We find that in the short-run small size startups show lower credit ratings than non-startups, and that both technology innovation activities and employment capability improve their credit ratings. In the long-run, technology innovation investments do not improve their credit ratings of later years while employment capability improve their credit ratings of the subsequent year. In addition, the age of startups improves their credit ratings of the current year and until the subsequent two years while employee productivity, fixed ratio and ROA positively affect their credit ratings for up to three years. However, short-term and overall debt ratios, cost of borrowings and firm-size negatively affect their credit ratings for up to three years. The results of the study on credit ratings suggest that credit rating agencies seem to consider both technology innovation activities and employment capability in the credit ratings of small start-ups as 'competence factors' rather than 'asymmetric information factors' with inefficiency and cost burdens. The results also suggest that we must find ways to reflect properly the severe asymmetric information of the early-stage start-ups, and technology innovation activities and employment capability in the credit rating formula.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the treatment pattern of patients with neuropathic pain (NeP) in Korea through computerized database of Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRAS) over three years' period from 2003 to 2005. The results showed that the numbers of treatment visits were the highest for diabetic neuropathy (DN), followed by postherpetic neuralgia (PHN) and trigeminal neuralgia (TN) in order. Top 3 specialties for treatment visits due to NeP conditions were neurology, neurosurgery and anesthesiology. While cost of a treatment visit was higher in anesthesiology and emergency clinics compared to other clinics, there was a tendency to increase costs for visits to clinics of rehabilitation medicine and family medicine over the three years. Cost of dental visits was relatively high for TN, atypical facial pain (AFP) and atypical odontalgia (AO). Surgeries frequently applied to patients with NeP were sympathetic plexus or ganglion block, block of peripheral branch of spinal nerve and cranial nerve or its peripheral branch block. Most common prescribed medication were anticonvulsants, anti-inflammatory analgesics and anti-psychotic drugs while anti-inflammatory analgesics were overwhelmingly frequently prescribed for AO and glossodynia. Based on the results of this study, NeP disorders more relevant to dentists were AO, TN and AFP, TN of which seems to be the most important in terms of patients' number and cost for treatment visits. This indicates that dentists, especially oral medicine specialists should actively participate in management of TN, AO and AFP and share relevant information with patients and community.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the position of tongue and hyoid bone in relation to vortical facial patterns in the adult and child. Lateral cephalograms taken in adults(63 cases, 11.7 years in average age) and children(69 cases, 22.6 years in average age) were traced and measured about position and posture of tongue and hyoid bone using the horizontal and vertical reference lines. The angle of mandibular plane to SN Plane was employed to classify the samples into groups of hypodivergent and hyperdivergent. The comparison of the tongue/hyoid bone measurements between hypodivergent group and hyperdivergent group in the adult and child were statistically executed with Student's f-test. The results were as follows, 1. The tongue height was lower in the hyperdivergent group than in hypodivergent group, and higher in children than in adults. 2. The vertical height of hyoid bone was higher in hypodivergent group than in hyperdivergent group and also higher in children than in adults. 3. The anteroposterior position was of no significant difference in relation to age or vortical facial pattern. 4. The inclination of hyoid bone in relation to cranial base was steeper in children than in adults.

  • It is well known that there are different craniofacial skeletal groups in the same malocclusion types. The present study was performed to determine morphologic sub-groups in Korean children with Class III malocclusions, and to find out morphological differences between subgroups by means of a cross-sectional longitudinal cephalometric study. In this study, 135 children aged 6 to 14 year-old with untreated Class III malocclusions were selected. The samples were divided into two groups depending on the angulation of middle cranial fossa (MCF). That is, when the MCF of an individual was measured smaller than 40.3, he/she was tossed into mandibular protrusive-effect group(MREG), while when an individual was measured larger than 40.3, he/she was tossed into mandibular retrusive-effect group(MREG). Thereafter, the grouped samples were divided into 4 age groups(7, 9, 11 and 13 year-old). Thirty four linear and angular measurements on the tracings of lateral cephaloradiographs were measured, and the morphological characteristics and differences were compared and analysed by means of Wilcoxon test. It was found that Korean children with Class III malocclusions were divided into two groups, in which 39.3% were belonged in the MREG and 60.7% were in the MREG. In the MREG, anterior-posterior length of cranial base, nasomaxillary complex, maxilla and mandible were larger than the MREG. And although there was no difference in the total length of mandible (Co-Gn), mandibular body length (Go-Gn) was larger in the MREG during the majority of the observed periods. These results would suggest that a majority of the samples, 60.7%, demonstrated many of configurations of craniofacial skeletal relationships that can be found in the leptoprosopic faceform.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the variations of the skeletal and dentoalveolar dimensions in relation to vertical facial patterns. Lateral cephalogram of 200 cases (100 cases of male and 100 cases of female, average age of which was 23.2 years) were traced and some measurements of skeletal and dentoalveolar dimensions were measured. The ratio of UAFH/LAFH was employed to classify the samples into groups of excess and short lower anterior facial height. And the comparison between two groups were taken statistacally. The following results were obtained. 1. The dentoalveolar height, lower anterior facial height, lower genial angle, and FMA in the excess-lower-anterior-facial-height group were significantly larger than those in short-lower-anterior-facial-height group. 2. The dentoalveolar height, facial height, ramus height, and Jarabak ratio in the male subjects were significantly larger than those in the female subjects. 3. The UAFH/LAFH ratio showed a significant correlation to upper, lower facial height, AUDH, PUDH, ALDH, PLDH, Lower gonial angle, FMA, and $Bj\"{o}rk's$ Sum.

  • Software reliability is one of the most basic and essential problems in software development. In order to detect the software failure phenomenon, the intensity function, which is the instantaneous failure rate in the non-homogeneous Poisson process, can have the property that it is constant, non-increasing or non-decreasing independently at the failure time. In this study, was compared the reliability performance of the software reliability model using the Landely lifetime distribution with the intensity function decreasing pattern and Erlang lifetime distribution from increasing to decreasing pattern in the software product testing process. In order to identify the software failure phenomenon, the parametric estimation was applied to the maximum likelihood estimation method. Therefore, in this paper, was compared and evaluated software reliability using software failure interval time data. As a result, the reliability of the Landely model is higher than that of the Erlang distribution model. But, in the Erlang distribution model, the higher the shape parameter, the higher the reliability. Through this study, the software design department will be able to help the software design by applying various life distribution and shape parameters, and providing software reliability attributes data and basic knowledge to software reliability model using software failure analysis.

  • The elastic open activator is one of the modified myodynamic activator. The reduced size of the appliance mass motivates the patients' comfort and longer time of wearing. Its peculiarities in loose fitting and the lack of appliance stabilization in the mouth draws the tongue and the surrounding functional matrices on close interaction with the appliance, consigns the physiologic exertion to target structures, and eventually makes it feasible to the inland of non-extraction treatment In the context of the sagittal malocclusion, the orthodontic trench is dependent upon the growth of basal structure aimed, therefore, it is contemplated to grabble the effects of Elastic Open Activator upon the class II malocclusion of growing child retrospectively. The cephalometric headfilms and study models of nine Class II malocclusion of growing child retrospectively. The cephalometric headfilms and study models of nine class II division 1 and five division 2 patients were evaluated and analyzed, and the following observations were drawn, 1. The maxilla maintained a normal growth pattern in both groups. 2. The mandible grew anteroinferiorly in both groups. 3. The upper incisors tipped ligually in Class II division 1 and tipped labially in Class II division 2 and anterior vertical alveolar growth was interrupted in both groups. 4. The lower incisors tipped labially. 5. There was an arch expansion in both groups and increase of available space in Class II division 2

  • Aim: The aims of this study were to survey the frequency of pain to palpation of the occipitofrontalis muscle in a TMD patient group, and to identify patients showing pain to palpation of the occipitofrontalis muscle that is also consistent with patients' headache symptom. Methods: A total of 218 TMD patients ($32.0{\pm}13.1$ years) participated in this study. Patients' symptoms, including headache, were surveyed by questionnaire. Temporomandibular joints, jaw muscles, and pericranial muscles including the occipitofrontalis muscle were examined with digital palpation. Pain to palpation (i.e. tenderness) was scored from 0 to 3 according to the patients' response, and frequencies were calculated of pain to palpation scores for each site of the pericranial muscles. Results: Twelve patients among 218 TMD patients (5.5%) showed pain to palpation (scores of 1, 2) on the occipitalis or frontalis sites, and seven patients (3.2%) had moderate pain (a score of 2) to palpation. Among 218 TMD patients, there was only one patient whose primary symptomatic site of headache corresponded with the result of pain to palpation of the occipitofrontalis muscle. Conclusion: It can be concluded that examination with palpation of the occipitofrontalis muscle could be considered in the evaluation of TMD patients' headache symptom when other factors have been ruled out.
