LTE Re1-10 aims at peak. data rates of 1Gbits/s for the downlink and 500 Mbits/s for the uplink, which can be accomplished by not only wide spectrum but also advanced MIMO techniques such as precoded MIMO and cooperative relays. Considering some relays can have more direct signal paths than mobile stations do, LoS components are examined to build more efficient codebooks for Rician channels. The proposed codebooks perform better than the existing LTE codebooks as the criterium of LoS, K-factor increases. Conserving the advantages and max-min chordal distance of the existing LTE codebooks, the proposed ones also maximize the minimum chordal distances between codewords over Rician fading channels. Link-level simulation with LTE system parameters confirm the performance improvements as the value of K increases.

In this paper, we modelized the multipath fading to Nakagami-m distribution fading channel which can be applied to the extended mobile communication channel environment. We assumed that the phase difference with reference signal happened in the received signal and in the receiver PLL(Phase Locked Loop) is the phase error. To correct the error we propose new RAKE receiver using PLL. In addition, we analyze the performance of DS/SS(Direct Sequence/spread Spectrum) system according to the gain of PLL,$\gamma_n$, the number of RAKE receiver branch L and MIP(Multipath Intensity Profile)'s exponential decay $\delta$. As a result, when the proposed RAKE receiver L Is increased and the $\delta$ is decreased the performance of the system gets better. Futhermore when PLL gain was 30dB, phase is identified. That is when the PLL gain is 30dB, the performance equals with the perfect coherent system's. Therefore, we can correct the phase error by using the proposed RAKE receiver and we proved that the PLL's requested limit gain should be 30dB.

In this paper, we propose a simple open loop transmit diversity (TD) scheme for the wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) systems in Rician multipath fading channels such as rural area or satellite channels where line-of-sight (LOS) paths are in presence. The proposed scheme does not require any pre-processing of transmit data, resulting in simpler structure as compared to conventional closed loop transmit adaptive array (TxAA) and open loop space-time transmit diversity (STTD). We analytically derive the probability density function of signal-to-noise ratio at the Rake receiver output and the uncoded bit error rate performance of the proposed scheme. Extensive simulation is Performed to verify the analytical performance of the proposed scheme under typical Rician multipath fading channel environments. Moreover, comparative results with the conventional TxAA and STTD are also provided. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme shows slightly better performance than the conventional open loop STTD under the channels with very weak LOS components, however, it significantly outperforms the STTD under the channels with dominant LOS components, and achieves a close performance of ideal closed loop TxAA.
Short-range wireless transmission and networking technologies are becoming increasingly important in enabling useful mobile applications. Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11b standards are the most commonly deployed technologies for WPAN and WLAN. This paper investigates the effect of short range wireless channel on the performance of MC-CDMA/BPSK system and Bluetooth GFSK signal transmission in AWGN and Rician fading environments. And we investigate performance degradation due to interference effects in short range wireless channel. We firstly derive a equation for the bit error probability in additive white Gaussian noise depending on MC-CDMA/BPSK signal and GFSK modulation signal parameters according to the Bluetooth RF standard. Then, from this error rate expression we calculate the mean error probability for MC-CDMA/BPSK signal and Bluetooth GFSK signal in Rician fading and interference channel. In particular, the impacts of the Rician fading depth and interference level on the error probability is shown in BER performance figures.

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) transmits high-speed data by splitting the transmission bandwidth into a number of subcarriers. The bandwidth of each subcarrier is ensured to be smaller than the coherence bandwidth. This paper presents an OFDM system incorporated with the Carrier Interferometry (CI) codes to improve the performance by enhancing frequency diversity effect. The performances of CI-OFDM with multilevel modulations are investigated in highly dispersive fading channels. For the investigation of performance improvement of CI-OFDM, a simulator has been developed using a well-known SPW simulation platform. The simulation results show that the CI-OFDM provides both performance improvement and robustness against dispersive fading channel behavior. The performance of CI-OFBM with multilevel modulations demonstrates that CI-OFDM outperforms a traditional OFDM system, particularly in highly dispersive channels. With a relatively large delay spread of 151㎱ compared to the guard interval of 800㎱, CI-OFDM provides a BER of 10$^{-3}$ if sufficient signal power is present.

In this paper, a new scheme of downlink co-channel interference (CCI) cancellation in OFDM cellular networks is introduced for users at the cell-edge. Coordinated symbol transmission between base stations (BS) is operated where the same symbol is transmitted from different BS on different sub-carriers. At the mobile station (MS) receiver, we introduce a soft decision maximum likelihood CCI canceler and a modified maximum ratio combining (M-MRC) to obtain an estimate of the transmitted symbols. Weights used in the combining method are derived from the channels coefficients between the cooperated BSs and the MS. Simulations show that the proposed scheme works well under frequency-selective channels and frequency non-selective channels. A gain of 9 dB and 6 dB in SIR is obtained under multipath fading and flat-fading channels, respectively.

In this paper we propose the communication system model which improve the performance of OFDM based DSRC system by adopting selective pilot overlay channel estimation scheme. Assuming AWGN and fading channel environment, the performance of OFDM system according to IEEE802.11p physical layer being standardized for OFDM based DSRC is obtained, and the performance of proposed OFDM based DSRC system adopting selective pilot overlay channel estimation scheme is compared with the conventional system. from the simulation results, it is shown that proposed system is superior to conventional one due to reducing channel estimation error.

In this paper, the outage probability of efficient partial relay selection(EPRS) using only one-hop channel information in multi-hop systems is analyzed in Rayleigh fading channels. In particular, we derive an exact and closed-form expression for the outage probability of decode-and-forward relaying based EPRS. In order to prove the usefulness of EPRS in multi-hop systems, we also analyze the correlation between the end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and the SNR for each hop at an arbitrary relaying path. Furthermore, through numerical investigation, we compare the outage performances for EPRS and the best relay selection using all channel information.

It is impossible to provide full diversity and full rate simultaneously using more than two transmit antennas in transmit diversity system. To do this, simple interference cancellation scheme and transmit power allocation scheme have been proposed, recently. But the former has increased noise power and the latter has increased interference which is induced by other channel in fading channel. In this paper, we propose an adaptive transmit power allocation algorithm to minimize the estimation error in the channel environments which have different fading levels each other and to improve the system performance.

MC-DS-CDMA is technique where a single data symbol is transmitted at multiple subcarriers which are orthogonal to each other. With this technique, frequency diversity can be achieved. The performance of uplink MC-DS-CDMA systems with the application of MRRC antenna diversity over time variant channels is analyzed. Time variant channels lead to interchannel interference which increases the bit error rate in the receiver. The BER performance of this system over multipath fading environment is evaluated, considering the channel estimation error, carrier frequency offset, and the nonlinear high power amplifier.
