  • The fuzzy controllers have been applied to the power system stabilizer due to its excellent properties on the nonlinear systems. But the design process of fuzzy controller requires empirical and heuristic knowledge of human experts as well as many trial-and-errors in general. This process is time consuming task. This paper presents an parameters tuning method of the fuzzy power system stabilizer using the genetic algorithm and simulated annealing(SA). The proposed method searches the local minimum point using the simulated annealing algorithm. The proposed method is applied to the one-machine infinite-bus of a power system. Through the comparative simulation with conventional stabilizer and fuzzy stabilizer tuned by genetic algorithm under various operating conditions and system parameters, the robustness of fuzzy stabilizer tuned by proposed method with respect to the nonlinear power system is verified.

  • This paper presents an optimal tuning method for Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) of current controller for HVDC using Genetic Algorithm(GA). GA is probabilistic search method based on genetics and evolution theory. The scaling factors of FLC are tuned by using real-time GA. The proposed tuning method is applied to the scaled-down HVDC simulator at Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute(KERI). Experimental result shows that disturbances are well-damped and the dynamic performances of FLC have the better responses than those of PI controller for small and large disturbances such as ULTC tap change, reference DC current change and DC ground fault.

  • The predictive maximum demand controllers often bring about large number of control actions during the every integrating period and/or undesirable load-disconnecting operations during the begining stage if the integrating period. To solve these problems, a fuzzy predictive maximum demand control algorithm is proposed, which determines the sensitivity if control action by urgency if the load interrupting action along with the predicted demand reading to the target or the time arriving at the end stage if the integrating period. A prototype controller employing the proposed algorithm also is developed and its performances are tested by PROCOM SYSTEMS Corperation of Korea.

  • In this paper, we develop a control system of an Educational Robot and implement a fuzzy algorithm for the position control. The MA2000 robot manufactured by TecQuipment Co. is the controlled system and 3 axes(waist, shoulder, elbow) of total 6 axes are controlled by the fuzzy logic-based algorithm. The control system consists of an IBM PC, an interface board capable of A/D conversion and PWM generation, and a drive board for dc motors in joints of the robot. The experiments show that the modified fuzzy algorithm yields a better performance in steady-stale than that of the conventional fuzzy algorithm.

  • Fuzzy Logic Control immitating human decision making process is a novel control strategy based on expert's experience and knowledge and many process designers are developing its applications. But it is difficult to obtain a set of ruler from human operators. And there is a limitation on adjusting to environmental changes. In this paper, we proposed adaptive fuzzy algorithm to overcome these difficulties using weights added to the rules. To verify the validity of this control strategy, we have implemented this algorithm for a DC servo motor with PD-type fuzzy controller.

  • This paper describes the method of vibration supprssion on a control algorithm using Neuro-Fuzzy Theory in Linear Pulse Motor (LPM). The total thrust force Is distorted by magnetic and coil flux, and we classify the harmonic parts of it. A modulated current from harmonic components of static thrust characteristics of LPM compensates with reference current to total thrust force. Low vibration is obtatained by the method of current compensation using ANFIS.

  • In this paper, the fuzzy LMS algorithm where the convergence coefficient is computed by a fuzzy logic controller was proposed. The proposed fuzzy LMS algorithm showed better convergence property and stability than conventional LMS algorithms. The estimation error and misadaptation degree were used for Input of the fuzzy logic controller. In a airconditioning duct case, various conditions were investigated to design active noise controllers. A case with acoustic feedback, the proposed algorithm showed good performances through computer simulations.

  • This paper presents an optimal fuzzy power system stabilizer to damp out low frequency oscillation. The fuzzy logic controllers has been applied to a power system stabilizing controllers. But the design of a fuzzy logic power system stabilizer relies on empirical and heuristic knowledge of human experts as well as many trial-and-errors in general. This paper presents the optimal design method of the fuzzy logic stabilizer using the genetic algorithm, which is the optimization method based on the mechanics of natural selection and natural genetics. The proposed method tunes the parameters of the fuzzy logic stabilizer in order to minimize the consuming time during the design process. In this paper, the proposed method tunes the shape of membership function of the fuzzy variables. The proposed system is applied to the one-machine infinite-bus model of a power system. Through the case study, the efficiency of the fuzzy stabilizing controller tuned by genetic algorithm is verified.

  • In this paper we suggest an optimal design method of Fuzzy-Neural Networks(FNN) model for complex and nonlinear systems. The FNNs use the simplified inference as fuzzy inference method and Error Back Propagation Algorithm as learning rule. And we use a HCM(Hard C-Means) Clustering Algorithm to find initial parameters of the membership function. The parameters such as parameters of membership functions learning rates and momentum weighted value is proposed to achieve a sound balance between approximation and generalization abilities of the model. According to selection and adjustment of a weighting factor of an aggregate objective function which depends on the number of data and a certain degree of nonlinearity (distribution of I/O data we show that it is available and effective to design and optimal FNN model structure with a mutual balance and dependency between approximation and generalization abilities. This methodology sheds light on the role and impact of different parameters of the model on its performance (especially the mapping and predicting capabilities of the rule based computing). To evaluate the performance of the proposed model we use the time series data for gas furnace the data of sewage treatment process and traffic route choice process.

  • In cope with insufficient agricultural labor and requirement of high quality product Hydroponics is a really good method. It makes the high density agriculture possible and all the growing environments controllable. So its research is so much progressing to maximize the quantity and quality of farm products. Furthermore, the big progress, in the research of a future agriculture, is systematically conducted for the automatic controlled system. In this paper, a new approach to the automation of the cultivation in a green house is suggested and a practical automatic control cultivation system is implemented. To automatically control and optimize the very nonlinear and time-varying growth of farm products, a hybrid strategy(FECA; Fuzzy Expertized Control Algorithm) is proposed which serially combines a fuzzy expert system with the fuzzy logic control. The fuzzy expert system(FMES; Fuzzy Model-based Expert System) is intended to overcome the non-linearity of the growth of farm products. The part of fuzzy controller is incorporated to solve the time-variance of the growth of farm products. Finally, the efficiency and the effectiveness of the implemented agricultural automation system is presented through the cultiviation results.
