Shrinkage Properties of High Performance Concrete Depending on Specimen Size and Constraint of Reinforcing Bar (공시체 크기 변화 및 철근구속에 따른 고성능콘크리트의 수축 특성)

  • This paper reports the test results for shrinkage properties of low shrinkage high performance concrete developed by the authors depending on specimen size and constraint of reinforcing bar. As properties in fresh concrete low shrinkage high performance concrete(LSHPC) combined with expansive additives and shrinkage reducing admixture resulted in increase SP dosage due to loss of fluidity compared with that of control mixture concrete, while the dosage of AE agent was decreased. LSHPC exhibited higher compressive and tensile strength than control mixture concrete. For the effect of specimen size, an increase in specimen size led to a reduction of drying shrinkage. However, it was found that the autogenous shrinkage was not affected by the specimen size and measuring method. For constraint condition, an increase in the ratio of reinforcing bar caused the slight reduction in the strain of reinforcing bar, while it increased the autogenous shrinkage stress. It was seen that LSHPC was effective to reduce autogenous shrinkage by as much as 70% compared with control mixture high performance concrete.

  • In this study, corrosion resistance of palm oil fuel ash (POFA) concrete as a blended concrete is evaluated by using electrochemical technique. The POFA is an industrial byproduct obtained from fuel ash after extracting palm oil from palm-tree. In order to obtain basic material characteristics of the POFA concrete, tests on compressive strength, slump, weight loss, bleeding and expansion ratio were carried out the early-aged POFA concrete. On the other hand, durability characteristics, both chloride penetration and carbonation depth test, were also conducted. Finally, corrosion resistance were evaluated by applying electro-chemical artificial crack healing technique, and the tests on the impressed voltage characteristic, galvanic current and linear polarization resistance. From the experimental results, it was found that long-term strength, bleeding, lower slump ratio, expansion ratio, chloride penetration, carbonation and corrosion resistance were improved by using the POFA due to activated pozzolanic reaction. It can be also mentioned that POFA concrete has a potential to be used as a cementitious binder for green-recycling resources.

Setting Shrinkage, Coefficient of Thermal Expansion, and Elastic Modulus of UP-MMA Based Polymer Concrete (UP-MMA 폴리머 콘크리트의 경화수축, 열팽창계수 및 탄성계수)

  • This study examines setting shrinkage, coefficient of thermal expansion, and elastic modulus of unsaturated polyester( UP)-methyl methacrylate(MMA) polymer concrete, which is generally used for repair of portland cement concrete pavement and manufacturing of precast products. In this study, a series of laboratory test were conducted with variables such as UP-MMA ratio, shrinkage reducing agent (SRA) content, and test temperature. The results showed that the setting shrinkage ranged from 29.2 to $82.6{\times}10^{-4}$, which was significantly affected by test temperature. Moreover, the findings revealed that the coefficient of thermal expansion, elastic modulus and ultimate strain of UP-MMA based polymer concrete ranged from 21.6 to $31.2{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$, 2.8 to $3.3{\times}10^4$ MPa, and 0.00381 to 0.00418, respectively. The results of this study will be used as important data for design and application of UP-MMA based polymer concrete.

Studies on the Manufacturing of Carbon Bond Graphite Crucible (카아본 본드형 흑연 도가니 제조에 관한 연구)

  • This study was focused on the improvement of production techniques of small crucibles in relation with the appropriate selection of raw materials, various batch compositions and physical and chemical characteristics of the crucibles. Various tests gave the optimum batch composition for the carbon bond graphite cructble as follows: Pyontaek graphite flake (refractory aggregate) : 40Part Silicon carbide: 15Part Tar pitch (binder) : 11Part Inorganic additives (to improve the oxidation resistance) : 15 Part Cryolite : 3 Part Ferro manganese : 2 Part Ferrosilicon : 25 Part Crucibles pressed with 400kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 12$0^{\circ}C$. and fired in reducing atmosphere at 120$0^{\circ}C$ brought the most favorable results as follows: Bulk density : 2.31 Apparent density : 2.58 Porosity : 15.2% Oxidation loss at 1, 50$0^{\circ}C$. for 3 hrs : below 3.77% Water absorption : 6.01% Compressive strength : 438kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$ Tensile strength : 256kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

  • It has been pointed out that the collapses of unsaturated road embankments caused by earthquake are attributed to high water content caused by the seepage of the underground water and/or the rainfall infiltration. Hence, it is important to study influences of water content on the dynamic stability and deformation mode of unsaturated road embankments for development of a proper design scheme including an effective reinforcement to prevent severe damage. This study demonstrates dynamic centrifugal model tests with different water contents to investigate the effect of water content on deformation and failure behaviors of unsaturated road embankments. Based on the measurement of displacement, the pore water pressure and the acceleration during dynamic loading, dynamic behavior of the unsaturated road embankments with about optimum water content and the higher water content than the optimum one have been examined. In addition, an image analysis has revealed the displacement field and the distributions of strains in the road embankment, by which deformation mode of the road embankment with higher water content has been clarified. It has been confirmed that in the case of higher water content the settlement of the crown is large mainly owing to the volume compression underneath the crown, while the small confining pressure at the toe and near the slope surface induces large shear deformation with volume expansion.

A Numerical Study of the Flow Field in the Combustion Chamber of the I.C Engine with Offset Valve (편심 밸브를 갖는 내연기관의 연소실 내부 유동장에 대한 수치적 연구)

  • Three dimensional numerical calculations were carried out for two different combustion chambers with the offset valve in order to investigate the swirl and the squish effects on the flow fields. The modified K-.epsilon. turbulence model considering the change of the density under the condition of the rapid compression and expansion of the pistion was used. During the compression process, it was found that the squish flow which controls the subsequent combustion process was produced due to the piston bowl in the bowl piston type combustion chambers but not for the flat piston type. The swirl velocity close to the solid body rotation was maintained in the flat piston type combustion chambers, but for the bowl piston type a resulting from the change of the solid body rotation was generated in the radial-circumferential plane. For the swirl ratio effect, as the swirl ratio increases, it was found that a large and strong vortex was generated in the radial-circumferential plane of bowl piston type combustion chambers because of the strong inward flows from the combustion chamber wall. These computational results were compared with the results of LDA measurement.

Geotechnical Characteristics of Reduced Slag-soil Mixtures in Electric Furnace (전기로 제강 환원 슬래그 혼합토의 지반공학적 특성)

  • Only a few studies have been conducted using reduced slag as recycled material. The reduced slag in electric furnace is produced as a by-product in making a steel and a few applications of the reduced slag as expensive additives and bonding materials or as the stabilized soils was reported. The purpose of this study is to present the feasibility of the reduced slag as recycled material, especially, in a field of civil engineering. In order to achieve the purpose experiments such as SEM and XRF analysis was conducted for the reduced slag in electric furnace. Based on the results various geotechnical experiments were conducted to know engineering properties of slag-soil mixtures. Weathered soils and clay are mixed with reduced slag for various ratios. As the ratio of reduced slag to weathered soil increases, the maximum dry unit weight of the mixture decreased with increasing optimum moisture content. The results indicates that there is no effect on a reduced slag by compaction efforts. The shear strengths of the weathered soil-slag mixtures are slightly higher or similar to those of weathered soils. The permeability of the weathered soil-slag mixtures is similar to that of silty or sandy soils. Therefore, it is possible to use the mixtures as embankment or backfill materials in the fields. The unconfined strength of the mixtures of reduced slag and clay is higher than that of clay and it tends to increase with the curing time. Therefore it can be used to improve the soft ground.

  • We could say that the concrete filled steel tube structure is superior in the vlew of various structure properties as to promote improvement of structural capacity to dtmonstrate heterogeneous material properties interdependently. The compressive strength is increased by putting to tri axial stress because lateral expansion of concrete 1s confined by the steel tube, when concrete conflned by steel tube fall under centric axial load. Also, it have an advantage that decreasr of load carrying capacity 1s small, not occuring section deficiency due to protect falling piienornonon by co~nprrssion fallurc of concrete. So this study investigated for structural behaviors yroprrtiex of concwir. confined by steel tube throughout a series of experlmerit with kcy parxncter, such as diameter-to-thickness(D / t) ratio, strength of concrete as a study on properties of structural behaviors of confined concrete confined by circular steel tube( tri axial stress). Frorn the expcrment results, the obtained results, are surnrnarised as foliow. (1) The restraint effect of concrete by steel tube was presented significantly as the D /t ratio of steel tube and the strength of filled concrete decrease, and the confined concrete by circular steel tube was increased respectively twice as much as 4-7 in deformation capacity at the ultimate strength ,compared with those of non-confined concrete, so expected to increase flexible effect of concrete. (2) The emprical formula to predict the ultimate capacity of confined concrete by steel tube and concrete filled steel tube column using restraint coefficient of concrete were proposed.

An Experimental Study on the Engineering Properties of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete (경량골재 콘크리트의 공학적 성질에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • 건설기술과 산업의 발전에 따라 구조물은 대형화되어 가고, 건설공사의 급격한 팽창으로 골재 수용량이 급증함에 따라 천연골재자원은 점차 부족현상을 면치 못할 처지에 있다. 또한, 무리한 천연골재의 채취는 자연환경을 훼손시킬 뿐만 아니라 자연보호 측면에서도 심각한 공해문제로 대두되고 있어 공급량 부족현상은 날로 심화되고 있다. 이에 세계 몇몇 나라에세는 산업부산물을 이용한 골재 생산으로 공해예방과 폐기물 활용방법을 연구하고 있다. 산업부산물중 플라이 애쉬 생산량은 전 세계적으로 매년 약 2억여톤에 달하고 있으나 이중 일부만 활용되고 있는 실정이다. 이와같은 부산물을 활용하기 위한 일환으로 산업부산물인 PFA(Pulverized Fuel Ash)로 만든 인공경량골재의 년생산량이 영국은 600,000$m^3$, 미국은 300,000$m^3$이며, 매년 증가주세에 있다. 고성능 경량골재 콘크리트는 단위중량의 증가없이 내구성과 강도를 향상시켜 실용화 측면에서 경제적인 효과가 있으며, 플라이 애쉬로 만든 경량골재는 시멘트와의 친화력이나 접착면에서 우수한 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 시험에 사용한 골재는 플라이 애쉬로 만든 인공경량 조골재와 강모래이고, 결합제로서 프틀랜드 시멘트를 사용하였다. 부수적인 결합재로서는 플라이 애쉬, 슬래그, 실리카 흄을 사용하였으며, 고성능 경량골재 콘크리트를 개발코자 재령 28일과 180일의 압축강도가 각각 50MPa와 60MPa가 되도록 배합설계를 하였다. 본 연구에서는 플라이 애쉬, 슬래그, 시리카 흄과 같은 산업부산물을 혼입했을때 경량골재 콘크리트의 압축강도, 휨강도, 동탄성계수, 공극체적, 공극률, 단위중량, 공극 크기별 분포등의 변화를 실험적으로 구명하여 재반 구조용 콘크리트에 활용하기 위한 기초자료를 마련코저 한다.있어 특정한 발육단계의 난포 사망기전을 연구하기 어렵다. 또한 난포는 생체 내에서 다양한 호르몬을 동시에 분비하기 때문에 특정한 난소국부호르몬이 사망기전에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 힘든 점이 있다. 최근 들어 난포체외배양이 다양하게 개발되면서, 이러한 어려운 점을 극복할 수 있게 되었다. 본 논문은 각 발육단계의 난포를 절단해 체외배양하면서, apoptosis DNA 절단 현상을 이용하여 각종 난소국부 호르몬들이 난포발육단계별로 사망기전에 미치는 영향을 요약해 보였다. 난포는 발육하면서 점차 복잡한 호르몬 경로를 생존을 위해 필요로 한다. Prevulatory난포생존에 필요한 난소국부호르몬들은 early antral 단계의 난포에서는 그 미치는 영향이 감소되다가 preantral단계의 난포에서는 영향을 전혀 미치지 못했다. 단지 예외는 cGMP처리로써, 세포내 cGMP수준을 일정하게 유지시켜주는 것이 난포발육단계에 무관하게 생존에 중요한 인자로, 장래 연구는 난포 세포내의 cGMP수준을 조절하는 기작을 규명하는데 있을 것이다.인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at% U, 66.4 at% O의 결과를 얻었다. 산화물 핵연료의 표면 관찰 및 정량 분석 시험시 시편 표면을 전도성 물질로 증착시키지 않고, Silver Paint 에 시편을 접착하는 방법으로도 만족한 시험 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰 자기폭풍일수록 현저했다. 주상에서 관측된 이러한 특성은 서브스톰 확장기 활동이 자기폭풍의 발달과 밀접한 관계가
