This study investigated the properties of rice snack puffed in a microwave oven after drying its dough according to Baekjinju soaking time and additional soybean milk. The optimum conditions for the non-fried rice snack using Baekjinju wetted flour were determined through the design of an experiment using response surface methodology. The independent variables were the Baekjinju soaking time and the additional soybean milk, and the dependent variables were the weight, volume, density, expansibility, Hunter's color value, hardness, and sensory properties. The quadratic model was chosen for the weight, density, expansibility, b value, and hardness. The two-factor interaction model was chosen for the volume, flavor, appearance, and overall preference. The linear model was chosen for the L value, taste, and texture. The weight was increased to longer than 11.26 days with the increase in the rice soaking. The volume, expansibility, L value, and b value increased with the increase in the rice soaking time and in the additional soybean milk ratio. However, the density was decreased was in reverse. The hardness increased most, with the rice soaking time rising from 5.28 to 8.53 days and the soybean milk additional ratio increasing from 5.34 to 20.26%. The sensory properties improved as rice soaking time decreased, and the soybean milk additional ratio was revered. As for the desirability, the optimal formulation of the dough of non-fried rice snack was achieved by mixing 200 g of Baekjinju flour with a 0.69 days rice soaking time and a 26.67% soybean milk of rice ratio according to weight.
An allium rhizobacterium Serratia plymuthica AL-1 was previously selected as a biocontrol agent of allium white rot. The chitinase from S. plymuthica AL-1 produced in medium containing colloidal chitin was purified by ammonium sulfate precipitation (40~70%), affinity adsorption, column chromatography on DEAE-sephadex A-50 and sephadex C-200 gel filtration. The enzyme was purified 10.8-fold with a yield of 7.3% from the starting culture broth. The purified chtinase gave a single band on sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, it's molecular weight was estimated to be 55 kDa. The optimum pH and temperature of the purified enzyme were pH 5.5 and $55^{\circ}C$, respectively and it is stable up to $50^{\circ}C$ and maintains around 90% of its activity for 60min. The enzyme were activated by $Ca^{2+}$, $Mn^{2+}$ and $Mg^{2+}$ and inhibited by $Cu^{2+}$, SDS, $\rho$-CMB, MIA, respectively. The purified chitinase showed broad spectrum of antifungal activities against plant pathogenic fungi Sclerotium cepivoruin, Alternana alternnta, Colletotrichum glceosporioidrs, Phoma sp., Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, Stemphylium solani, Fusarium oxysporium f. sp. niveum but rarely inhibited Phytophthora capsici and Pythium ultimum.. The purified chitinase from S. plymuthica AL-1 caused swelling, lysis, deceleration and degradation of the hyphal tips of S. sczerotiorum causing allium white rot. It suggest that S. prymuthica AL-1 chitinase play an important part in the bifunctional chitinase / lysozyme activity.
The purpose of this study is to maintain high efficiency and reasonable use of cool thermal storage systems operated in the domestic building sector. As the result of efficiency test from the five types of operated cool storage systems on the condition that COP ranges are 2.6 to 3.4 during the day time and 2.1 to 3.0 during the night time and it decreased by more than 30% of rated COP given 3.8 to 3.0. The Analysis of cool storage rate shows that only 3 (21.4%) systems out of 15 buildings hold to over 40% capacity for its total capacity. To prevent the decrease in operating efficiency, it should correct the malfunction of 3-way valve and expansion valve and the mistake of control values for schedule program and increase cooling tower capacity. In order to improve piping line, it needs bypass brine line off refrigerator, separation of chilled water line with Ice Slurry system at day and night time and speed control of chilled and warm water pumps. This study does require the more studies on improving difficulty of increasing cooling load with Ice on Coil system, waterproofing with Ice Ball system, COP drop during the night time with Ice Lens, low operating temperature during the day time with Ice Slurry and increasing of Power loss due to hot gas de-icing with Ice Harvest in the future.
The increased brightness and focused X-ray beams now available from laboratory X-ray sources facilitates a variety of powder diffraction experiments not practical using conventional in-house sources. Furthermore, the increased availability of 2-dimensional area detectors, along with implementation of improved software and customized sample environmental cells, makes possible new classes of in-situ and time-resolved diffraction experiments. These include phase transitions under variable pressure- and temperature conditions and ion-exchange reactions. Examples of in-situ and time-resolved studies which are presented here include: (1) time-resolved data to evaluate the kinetics and mechanism of ion exchange in mineral natrolite; (2) in-situ dehydration and thermal expansion behaviors of ion-exchanged natrolite; and (3) observations of the phases forming under controlled hydrostatic pressure conditions in ion-exchanged natrolite. Both the quantity and quality of the in-situ diffraction data are such to allow evaluation of the reaction pathway and Rietveld analysis on selected dataset. These laboratory-based in-situ studies will increase the predictability of the follow-up experiments at more specialized beamlines at the synchrotron.
Gentiana scabra Bunge var buergeri Max, can be widely used such as cut-flower, ornamental and medicinal plant among the native plants. Microscopic and Scanning electron microscopic observation plant were carried out to estimates the characteristics correlated with germinability and germination process, and the results were as follows. The seeds were germinated just after harvest, and it means that there is no or little dormancy of the seeds. Matured seeds showed higher germinability than those of immatured. As the storage period was longer, immatured seeds showed shorter longevity than those of matured. The average longevity was about 190 days. According to the observation results of morphological changes during the germination, seed coat was expanded with water absorption immediately after seeding, and radicals were observed 2 days after seeding. Root hairs were formed behind the growing tip of the root on 4 days after seeding and cotyledon were unfolded on 6 days after seeding. In the microscopic observation of leaf tissues, it could be easily distinguished between midrib, and leaf blade, and also observed upper epidermis, palisade parenchyma and spongy parenchyma consisted as a sing1e layer. Palisade parenchyma was consisted of a single layer of cell. Stomata were restricted lower surface, arranged as anamocytic type, and surrounded by guard cells. In the microscopic anatomy of stem were consisted of cortical layer, forming a single layer of epidermis and parenchyma, and vascular bundle which was consisted of continuous cylinder of vascular tissues.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the influence of phenobarbital(PB) on hepatotoxic effect of carbon tetrachloride($CCl_4$) which induces centrilobular necrosis in liver. Rats were injected intraperitoneally $CCl_4$ dissolved in olive oil by a dose of 0.4mg/kg. For change related to PB pretreatment, rats were injected $CCl_4$ 0.4mg/kg after PB pretreatment. The liver samples were taken in 6, 12, 24, 48, 72, and 120 hours after $CCl_4$ and/or FB injection. Extracted liver tissue was examined with light and electron microscopes. The results were sumarized as follows : 1. Light microscopic findings : In $CCl_4$ group, centrilobular necrosis developed from 6 hours after injection, was the most severe in 48 hours, and recovered after 72 hours. In addition to necrosis, fatty change and pale cell change were accompanied. In PB-$CCl_4$ group, necrosis occurred from 6 hours after $CCl_4$ injection and continued to 72 hours, and the degree of necrosis was more severe than that of $CCl_4$ group and pale cell change was decreased. 2. Electron microscopic findings: In $CCl_4$ group, the early principal change was clumping and vesicular dilatation of endoplasmic reticulum. In PB-$CCl_4$ group, the degenerative change of endoplasmic reticulum was aggrevated and the mitochondria also revealed severe degenerative change. According to the results, it was revealed that $CCl_4$ hepatotoxicity primarily began with the damage of endoplasimic reticulum, then damage of other cell organelles and cell necrosis followed, and these cytotoxic effects were aggrevated by PB pretreatment.

This study analyzed the collapse course of a mud stone cut slope during the construction of a express and suggested a countermeasure. Experiments were carried out on bedrock mudstone to investigate the engineering characteristics and the slope stability analysis at the time the design was reviewed. In addition, stability analysis, considering the strength softening characteristics of the slope due to the Swelling-Slaking phenomenon, was also performed. As a result of the Swelling-Slaking test, the slake durability was Low-Medium, and the swell potential was Very Low. A review of the stability analysis performed at the time of the design showed different results from the actual results because LEM analysis had been performed without considering the engineering characteristics of mudstone. As a result of additional stability analysis considering the strength softening characteristics, the slope collapse point and the maximum shear strain point of the stability analysis were the same and the standard safety factor was not satisfied. As a countermeasure, a slope mitigation method was found to be most appropriate. The mitigation slope was calculated by Finite element Analysis. A comparison with BIPS to determine the applicability of a mitigation slope revealed most of the unconsolidated mudstone.
Factors affecting germination of seeds in the forms of various environment and chemical compounds. The present study was aim to produced effective seed propagation method of Astilbe koreana (Kom.) Nakai which had expected high value for the cut flower, ornamental and pharmaceutical material. Seed width and length ranged 0.62, 2.22 ㎜, respectively, and weight of thousand seeds was 40.5 ㎎. As result of imbibition test, showed moisture content of fresh seed (2.57%) increased rapidly by water-soaking treatment under 24 hours, recording to maximum value of 29.8%, and expansion of the seed coat was observed. Seed germination was the best at 15℃ and light conditions (40.8%) among temperature and light conditions treated. Percent germination of seeds was improved under the low (15, 20℃) than high temperature (25, 30℃). In addition, the seed was not germinated at dark condition regardless of temperature. Seeds of A. koreana thus seemed that it had low temperature germinability conditions. To improve germination rate, seeds were submerged in various concentrations of growth regulators such as GA3 and kinetin, and minerals as KNO3 and KCl. As a results, KNO3 treatment, regardless of concentrations, promoted germination compared to control. Especially, percent of germination (77.8%), germination energy (96.1%), mean germination time (11.3 days) and T50 (6.5 days) were effectively improved by treatment of KNO3 20 mM.
It has been pointed out that the collapses of unsaturated road embankments caused by earthquake are attributed to high water content caused by the seepage of the underground water and/or the rainfall infiltration. Hence, it is important to study influences of water content on the dynamic stability and deformation mode of unsaturated road embankments for development of a proper design scheme including an effective reinforcement to prevent severe damage. This study demonstrates dynamic centrifugal model tests with different water contents to investigate the effect of water content on deformation and failure behaviors of unsaturated road embankments. Based on the measurement of displacement, the pore water pressure and the acceleration during dynamic loading, dynamic behavior of the unsaturated road embankments with about optimum water content and the higher water content than the optimum one have been examined. In addition, an image analysis has revealed the displacement field and the distributions of strains in the road embankment, by which deformation mode of the road embankment with higher water content has been clarified. It has been confirmed that in the case of higher water content the settlement of the crown is large mainly owing to the volume compression underneath the crown, while the small confining pressure at the toe and near the slope surface induces large shear deformation with volume expansion.
This study, compared with data of PbO-base glass system is a part of new glass composition design with Bi-base composition for PDP Rib. As $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glass composition including Bi, which have similar density value and work facility to PbO, properties of softening point, thermal expansion coefficient, chemical durability, dielectric constant, and structural changing by XPS were investigated. $Bi_2O_3-B_2O_3-ZnO$ glass system, added 50∼80 wt% $Bi_2O_3$ widely, were presented 400∼480$^{\circ}C$ softening temperature, $68{\sim}72{\times}10^{-7}/^{\circ}C$ thermal expansion coefficient and 13∼25 dielectric constant. These results were showed similar physical properties with Pb-base glass system of same composition content, application possibility as starting composition of rib material was identified through micro-control of components and physical properties. The bonding energy of $O_{1s}$ as the $Bi_2O_3$ content decreasing was increased and full width at half-maximum (FWHM) was decreased, which is caused by non-bridging oxygen increasing.
