  • This paper analyzed the process of text generation of the fan-made works in Korean idol. The subjects of the study adopted the fan-made works of 'BTS' and 'EXO'. This is applied the concepts of 'Apparatus-Operator' and 'Technical form' in Vilém Flusser. Idol contents build a database of fan-made works and create the storyworld through separation and integration of fan's interpretations. By decontextualizing and recontextualizing the idol contents, fans reinforce and extend the original texts.

  • In this work, a steady-state performance modeling and off-design performance analysis of the 2-spool separate jet turbofan engine named BR715-56 which is a power plant for the narrow body commercial aircraft is carried out for engine performance behaviors investigation and condition monitoring using a commercial code MATLAB/SIMULINK. Firstly, the engine component maps of fan, high pressure compressor, high pressure turbine and low pressure turbine are generated from similar component maps using the scaling method, and then the off-design performance simulation model is constructed by the mass flow matching and the work matching between components. The model is developed using SIMULINK, which has advantages of easy steady-stare and dynamic modelling and user friendly interface function. It is found that the off-design performance analysis results using the proposed model are well agreed with the performance analysis results by GASTURB at various operating conditions.

  • The present study is aimed to develop an integrated performance analysis approach for the application of a compressor with variable inlet guide vane (VIGV) and vairable stator vane (VSV) in a small turbofan engine. For the integrated analysis approach, an engine performance analysis program, NPSS and a computer program used for predicting of axial flow compressor performance based on stage stacking method, STGSTK were linked with an optimisation package, Isight. This enables off-design performance analysis for the turbofan engine with VIGV and VSV hence provides the capability to predict stable operation condition of the engine with acceptable surge margin.

  • There is a growing interest in engine diagnostic technology for gas turbine engines. An engine simulation program, precisely simulating the engine performance, is required in order to apply it to the engine diagnosis technology for engine health monitoring. In particular, the simulation program can predict not only design point performance but also off-design point and partial load performance in accurate. So the engine simulation program for the 2-spool separate flow type turbofan engine was developed and the JT9D-7R4G engine of PW(Pratt & Whitney) was analyzed. The steady-sate performance analysis is conducted at both design and off-design points in flight path and the differences between analysis results of takeoff and cruise conditions are compared. The effect of Reynold's correction method was analyzed as a scaling method of the engine component performance. The simulation results was compared with NPSS.

  • To seek the fan operating point on a cooling system with fans, it is very important to determine the system impedance and it has been usually examined with the fan tester(wind tunnel) based on ASHRAE standard and AMCA standard. This leads to a large investment in time and cost, because it could not be executed until the system is made actually. Therefore it is necessary to predict the system impedance curve through numerical analysis so that we could reduce the measurement effort. This paper presents how the system impedance curve (pressure drop curve) is computed by CFD in substitute for experiment. In reverse order to the experimental principle of the fan tester, pressure difference was adopted first as inlet and outlet boundary conditions of the system and then flow rate was calculated.

  • For the understanding of the complex flow characteristics in the counter-rotating axial flow fan, it is necessary to investigate the three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter-rotating axial flow fan. This information is also essential for the prediction of the aerodynamic and acoustical characteristics of the counter-rotating axial flow fan. Experimental study on the three-dimensional unsteady flow in the counter-rotating axial flow fan is carried out at the design point(operating condition). Three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter rotating axial flow fan are measured at the cross-sectional planes of the upstream and downstream of each rotor using the $45^{\circ}$ inclined hot-wire. Three-dimensional unsteady flow fields in the counter-rotating axial flow such as the wake, the tip vortex and the tip leakage flow are shown the form of the velocity vectors and the velocity contours.

  • Recently, as interest in air quality in vehicles increases, the use of fine dust detection sensors for air quality measurement is becoming common. An axial-flow fan is inserted in the fine dust sensor installed in the air conditioning system in the vehicle to prevent dust from sinking directly on the sensor. When the sensor operates, the flow noise caused by the rotation of the axial-flow fan acts as a major noise source of the fine dust sensor. flow noise is recognized as one of the product competitiveness of fine dust sensors. In this study, the noise was gradually reduced at the same flow rate by improving the flow performance of the small axial flow fan. First, a virtual fan performance tester consisting of about 20 million grids was developed to analyze the aerodynamic performance of the target small axial-flow fan. In addition, the flow field was simulated by using compressible Large Eddy Simulation for direct computation of flow noise as well as high-accurate prediction of flow rate. The validity of numerical method are confirmed through the comparison of predicted results with experimental ones. After the effects of pitch angle on flow performance were analyzed using the verified numerical method, the pitch angle was determined to maximize the flow rate. It was found that the flow rate was increased by 8.1 % and noise was reduced by 0.8 dBA when the axial-flow fan with the optimum pitch angle was used.

  • UAVs for reconnaissance and intelligence operations require long endurance capability, which demands high efficiency of the propulsion system. The distributed propulsion system(DPS) generates the thrust by replacing a large propulsion system with a number of small propulsion systems. A DPS distributed along the wing span can produce gains in propulsion efficiency by reducing ejection velocity. Also, the ingestion of boundary layers through the distributed DPS inlet and ejecting flow from the outlet can improve the lift to drag ratio of the vehicle. This study investigates the effects of locations and size of the inlet and outlet of the DPS on the blended-wing-body design based on Eppler 337 airfoil, with a CFD tool. The fans in the DPS are modeled as actuator disks for computational efficiency. The best location and aspect ratio of the inlet and outlet are found from lift-to-drag ratio and pitching moment considerations.

  • Heating and/or cooling of the channel with pin-fin structure is a promising choice for the efficient heat transfer. Complex pin-fin structure shows highly irregular behavior like porous media. This study shows the numerical analysis on the characteristic of heat transfer and pressure drop of a channel with pin-fin structure. It predicts the experimental data quite well at the high porosity region with large diameter. Low porosity activates the rigorous flow disturbance and, consequently, the enhanced heat transfer. However, the concept of optimum design should be carefully reviewed because the pressure drop is also increased with decreasing porosity at low porosity region.
