A Case of Canine Uterine Adenocarcinoma with Negative Estrogen and Progesterone Receptor Expression (개의 에스트로겐과 프로케스테론 수용체 발현이 되지 않은 자궁 선암종 증례)

  • A 12-year-old female mixed breed dog receiving a progesterone drug was referred for evaluation of an abdominal mass. Abdominal radiography and ultrasonography revealed a swollen uterus and an associated mass. Serum chemistry revealed hyperglobulinemia consistent with acute inflammation based on the results of serum protein electrophoresis. Fine needle aspiration of the mass guided by ultrasonography was performed for cytological evaluation. The cytological impression was consistent with adenocarcinoma. Exploratory laparotomy identified a uterine body mass, which was surgically removed for histopathology. Histology of the mass identified a uterine adenocarcinoma. Immunochemistry using anti-estrogen and progesterone receptor antibodies was performed and neoplastic cells were negative to both antibodies while some normal elements were reactive to both of them. Computer tomography demonstrated evidence of metastatic disease in the lung one week after the surgery and the dog died about 40 days after surgery.

Cancer Diagnosis System using Genetic Algorithm and Multi-boosting Classifier (Genetic Algorithm과 다중부스팅 Classifier를 이용한 암진단 시스템)

  • It is believed that the anomalies or diseases of human organs are identified by the analysis of the patterns. This paper proposes a new classification technique for the identification of cancer disease using the proteome patterns obtained from two-dimensional polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(2-D PAGE). In the new classification method, three different classification methods such as support vector machine(SVM), multi-layer perceptron(MLP) and k-nearest neighbor(k-NN) are extended by multi-boosting method in an array of subclassifiers and the results of each subclassifier are merged by ensemble method. Genetic algorithm was applied to obtain optimal feature set in each subclassifier. We applied our method to empirical data set from cancer research and the method showed the better accuracy and more stable performance than single classifier.

Locomotion of Dog-like Quadruped Robots: Walk and Trot (견형 4족 로봇의 위치 이동: 걷기 및 속보)

  • This paper is concerned with locomotion of dog-like quadruped robots that can adapt to various terrains, mainly dealing with implementation methods and characteristics of static and dynamic gaits. To this end, a 12-DOF robot is built in house, motional trajectories of its body and feet are generated mimicking biological life, and the corresponding leg joint angles are analytically obtained by inverse kinematics. Such joint angle data are then applied to the robot's ADAMS model for computer simulations so that the planned walk and trot gaits are both confirmed dynamically stable. However, contrary to the simulation results, previous trot patterns showed unstable behavior during experiments. This problem led us to analyze the reason, and in the course we discovered the importance of maximally utilizing the concept of WSM rather than ZMP and therefore reducing the gait period to secure the stability of dynamic gaits such as trot.

A Simulator for the Design and Operation of the Steel Mill (제강.연주 공장 설계와 운영을 위한 시뮬레이터)

  • Stiff competition and skyrocketing prices of raw materials are increasingly demanding the optimal design and operation of iron and steel mills minimizing trial and error. Computer simulation can provide the methodology in accordance with requirements. The purpose of this paper is to suggest a simulator for the design and operation of the steelmaking and continuous casting mill. The simulator was developed using Arena, popular simulation software and input and output interface based on MS Excel. It allows easy access for the maintenance and extension of the model. One of distinct features of the proposed simulator is the inclusion of complex transportation modules composed of transfer cars and overhead cranes. The simulator can be used for evaluating various alternative designs of a projected mill via throughput analysis and material flow analysis. Also, one can utilize it effectively to search for the best product mix suitable for many types of situations. It could be an invaluable tool evaluating the performance of operation patterns and improving the accuracy.

  • Ubiquitous computing environment, as a new paradigm of the digital information era, has been introduced to respond to rapid changes in society and culture. Today, technology research around the world competes for the preoccupancy of the core technology as well as the development of technology for providing context aware system more intelligent, more sophisticated. Research in recent is underway the implementation of intelligent provisioning system using the ontology. Erstwhile provisioning system did not providing a personalized service that provides the service after context aware. Accordingly, there is a need for studies of intelligent context aware provisioning technique considering environments and context necessary to user. In this paper, in order to provide a service that is optimized for the needs of the user, propose an ontology-based intelligent provisioning service method taking into account the usage patterns and the context of the user. The proposed system is recognized the status of the user and demonstrated a process of reasoning techniques for fit service. And it is possible to the expansion of intelligence.

Multi-Document Summarization Method Based on Semantic Relationship using VAE (VAE를 이용한 의미적 연결 관계 기반 다중 문서 요약 기법)

  • As the amount of document data increases, the user needs summarized information to understand the document. However, existing document summary research methods rely on overly simple statistics, so there is insufficient research on multiple document summaries for ambiguity of sentences and meaningful sentence generation. In this paper, we investigate semantic connection and preprocessing process to process unnecessary information. Based on the vocabulary semantic pattern information, we propose a multi-document summarization method that enhances semantic connectivity between sentences using VAE. Using sentence word vectors, we reconstruct sentences after learning from compressed information and attribute discriminators generated as latent variables, and semantic connection processing generates a natural summary sentence. Comparing the proposed method with other document summarization methods showed a fine but improved performance, which proved that semantic sentence generation and connectivity can be increased. In the future, we will study how to extend semantic connections by experimenting with various attribute settings.

Determinants of SNS Use Time Depending on SNS Motive in Youth Workers (청년층 직장인의 SNS 이용동기에 따른 사용시간의 결정요인에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the determinants of the SNS usage time depending on SNS motive of the youth workers. Although previous studies revealed that there are many motivations for SNS usage, it is not known which factors determine usage time of each SNS motive. In this study, we constructed the unbalanced panel data of the Korean Education & Employment Panel data. Among three different SNS motives such as information exchange, social networking, and fun pursuit, gender, physical health, extraversion, and conscientiousness affected the usage of SNS when the motivation was information exchange. When it was personal connection, the size of organization, education, physical health, subjective happiness, job satisfaction, neuroticism, and agreeableness did. When it was fun & interest, foreign company, status of children, subjective happiness, and job satisfaction did. Based on the findings, we discussed theoretical and practical implications.

Multi-target Classification Method Based on Adaboost and Radial Basis Function (아이다부스트(Adaboost)와 원형기반함수를 이용한 다중표적 분류 기법)

  • Adaboost is well known for a representative learner as one of the kernel methods. Adaboost which is based on the statistical learning theory shows good generalization performance and has been applied to various pattern recognition problems. However, Adaboost is basically to deal with a two-class classification problem, so we cannot solve directly a multi-class problem with Adaboost. One-Vs-All and Pair-Wise have been applied to solve the multi-class classification problem, which is one of the multi-class problems. The two methods above are ones of the output coding methods, a general approach for solving multi-class problem with multiple binary classifiers, which decomposes a complex multi-class problem into a set of binary problems and then reconstructs the outputs of binary classifiers for each binary problem. However, two methods cannot show good performance. In this paper, we propose the method to solve a multi-target classification problem by using radial basis function of Adaboost weak classifier.

The Characteristic Analysis of Microstrip Slot antennal with T-Shaped Feed Line (T-모양 급전선을 갖는 마이크로스트립 슬롯 안테나의 특성 분석)

  • In this paper, a T-shaped microstrip feed line is proposed for a better impedance matching to the microstrip slot antenna in a various range of slot widths. It was found that the bandwidth of this antenna is proportional to the slot width. It was also found that the radiation resistance of this feed line structure is quite constant and low regardless to the slot width. A slot antenna with T-shaped microstrip feed line is analyzed by using the FDTD method. At first, the propagation process of the reflected wave and the electric field distribution in the time domain is calculated respectively. The antenna parameters also are optimized to get maximum band width, return loss, input impedance, and radiation pattern in the frquency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results. From the computed results, the optimum slot antenna is designed and fabricated. When the slot width is 16 mm, approximately 35% of bandwidths are obtained without a matching circuit. These computed results using FDTD method were in relatively good accordance with the measured values.

Wide Bandwidth Circularly Polarized Aperture Coupled Microstrip Antenna using Cross-slot (십자 슬롯을 이용한 광대역 원형편파 적층 개구결합 마이크로스트립 안테나)

  • A novel single feed wide band CP stacked microstrip antenna using crossed slots has been designed, fabricated and measured. For the single rediating element the designed 10dB return loss bandwidth is 34.5%99.45~13.54 GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 18.7%(11.17~13.39GHz), and 6 dB gain bandwidth is 29%(10.21~13.64GHz). For the 2$\times$2 array designed using a sequential rotation method, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 35.9%(9.69~13.94GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 34.6GHz (9.93~14.03GHz), and 6dB gain bandwidth is 27.4%(10.35~13.6GHz). For the fabricated 8$\times$8 array antenna, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 27.3%(10.17~13.41GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 27.9GHz(10.1~13.4GHz), and the radiation pattern is good agreement with theory. This antenna can be used for broadband applications for communications or broadcasting in Ku band.
