A Study on Constructability Improvement of LB-DECK Panel (LB-DECK 패널의 시공성 향상에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to improve constructability of LB-DECK construction in site such as inconvenience of main and distribution bars in arrangements LB-DECK Panel which is work is applied to many bridges these days as a permanent formwork. So, the constructability is improved by changing the method of allocation of main reinforcing bar and distribution bar which is reviewed for improving efficiency of design and construction process among the suggested methods. The crack shapes, deflections, and strains under static load of the improvement of LB-DECK Panel are compared and analyzed to former LB-DECK Panel. As a result, 13% of strength compared to before the improvement of LB-DECK Panel, and 10% of strength is increased in the case of slab.

Canard-Leading Edge Flap Scheduling for the Maneuverability Enhancement of a Fighter Class Aircraft (전투기급 항공기 기동성 증대를 위한 카나드-앞전플랩 스케줄링)

  • During the conceptual design phase of a wing-body-canard type fighter class aircraft, as a method of maneuverability enhancement for an aircraft, effects of canard-leading edge flap scheduling have been studied. In this study, corrected supersonic panel method has been used to predict the drag polar characteristics due to canard-leading edge flap deflections in the high speed regime. Utilizing the predicted drag polar curves, the canard-leading edge flap scheduling laws have been established. These scheduling laws are the relation of canard-leading edge flap deflections and the flight conditions to maximize the lift-drag ratio. Based on the results obtained from the canard-leading edge flap scheduling, the present method has shown to be useful to enhance the maneuverability of wing-body-canard type fighter class aircraft.

  • This paper presents the results of an experimental study carried out Prestressed Concrete Slab System of WAffle Shape(WAS), was perfomed in order to inverstigate it connection shear behavior according to primary paramaters: connection interval, filling matarial. Specimen is produced in Precast Concrete factories and it comprised one WAS panel and two half WAS panels and then it is filled with packing. Within the ranges of the parameters of the connection details used in this test, connections can develop greater shear strength than the nominal shear strength and the design service load for parking structures.

디지털 디자인 및 패브리케이션 통합 스튜디오 교육 사례 소개 -조지아텍 디지털빌딩랩에서의 인테리어패널 제작

  • 본 글을 통해 학생들과 함께 수행한 다양한 디지털 디자인 모델을 기반으로 5가지의 디지털 패브리케이션 방식을 적용하여 여러 실제 인테리어패널의 제작 과정 및 그 결과물들을 요약적으로 소개하였다. 해당 과정은 기존의 분리된 설계와 제작 및 시공이 아닌, 설계-제작 통합적인 접근방법을 활용함으로써 학생들로 하여금 디지털 디자인과 패브리케이션의 효과를 극대화 할 수 있음을 체득하도록 하였다. 패브리케이션 기기 및 재료 등의 차이점에 따라 실제 구현된 모델과 원래의 디지털 모델과의 형상적인 차이점은 아직까지 한계점으로 남을 수 있지만, 비정형적으로 생성된 디지털 디자인의 형상이 직접적으로 실현이 가능하다는 점에서 의의가 있다고 할 수 있다. 또한 패러매트릭 모델링 기법이나 실제 제작 경험이 거의 없는 학생들을 대상으로 개별적인 교육이 아닌 설계-제작 통합적인 교육을 실시함으로써 각 요소들이 어떻게 유기적으로 관련되어 디지털 디자인 과정이나 패브리케이션과정에서 상호 보완적으로 중요한지 직접 체득할 수 있도록 하였다는데 의의가 있다. 본 글에서 소개한 재료를 깎는 등의 방식인 "마이너스"의 방식이 아닌 3D프린팅과 같이 재료를 이용해 만들어가는 "플러스"적인 방식 또한 해당 사례에서 수행되었으며 마찬가지로 다양한 특성을 지니고 있으나, 본 글에서는 전자의 방식에 대해 주로 논하였다. 본 글에서 다룬 제작기법뿐만 아니라 3D프린팅 기술의 발전과 보급에 따라 디지털 패브리케이션 역시 다양하게 진보하고 있으며, 팹랩 등을 통한 학교에서의 건축설계 교육도 다양하게 진화하고 있다. 본 사례 및 기타 실험적인 교육과 선도적인 여러 시도를 통해서, 디지털 디자인과 패브리케이션 영역을 확장시켜나가고 해당 기술의 발전에 적극적으로 보조할 수 있는 교육과정을 수립하고 이행하는데 일조 할 수 있기를 희망한다.

Paneling of Curved NURBS Surface through Marching Geodesic - Application on Compound Surface - (일방향 지오데식을 활용한 곡면 형상의 패널링 - 복합 곡면을 중심으로 -)

  • Paneling building facades is one of the essential procedures in building construction. Traditionally, it has been an easy task of simply projecting paneling patterns drawn in drawing boards onto 3d building facades. However, as many organic or curved building shapes are designed and constructed in modern architectural practices, the traditional one-to-one projection is becoming obsolete for the building types of the kind. That is primarily because of the geometrical discrepancies between 2d drawing boards and 3d curved building surfaces. In addition, curved compound surfaces are often utilized to accommodate the complicated spatial programs, building codes, and zoning regulations or to achieve harmonious geometrical relationships with neighboring buildings in highly developed urban contexts. The use of the compound surface apparently makes the traditional paneling pattern projection more challenging. Various mapping technics have been introduced to deal with the inabilities of the projection methods for curved facades. The mapping methods translate geometries on a 2d surface into a 3d building façade at the same topological locations rather than relying on Euclidean or Affine projection. However, due to the intrinsic differences of the planar 2d and curved 3d surfaces, the mapping often comes with noticeable distortions of the paneling patterns. Thus, this paper proposes a practical method of drawing paneling patterns directly on a curved compound surface utilizing Geodesic, which is faithful to any curved surface, to minimize unnecessary distortions.

Efficient Panel Shapes for Seismic Resistance of Stainless Steel Water Tank (스테인리스 물탱크 내진설계를 위한 효율적 패널 형상)

  • The seismic design of water tanks for fire protection is important to prevent secondary earthquake damages due to fires. In this study, the seismic performance of stainless steel water tanks was evaluated considering both static and dynamic water pressure effects, and the influence of different panel shapes was investigated through numerical analysis. First, a basic water tank model comprised of flat panels was built, and then water pressure distribution including sloshing effects was evaluated. In the result of structural analysis, many panels of the basic water tank exceeded a specified allowable stress for load combinations including earthquake loads. In order to reduce the bending stress of the panel by increasing the moment of inertial of the panel section, alternative shapes of a truncated quadrangular pyramid were developed. Five water tanks with different alternative panel shapes were built and analyzed for the same load combinations. Based on the results of the numerical analysis, a number of effective aspect ratios were selected and modified to increase economic feasibility through additional analysis and structural safety check.

Prediction of the Edge Sealing Shape on the Vacuum Glazing Using the Nonlinear Regression Analysis (비선형회귀분석을 이용한 진공유리 모서리 접합단면 형상예측)

  • While using the hydrogen mixture gas torch, the glass edge sealing and the shape of the edge sealing parts is affected by many parameters such as flow rate of gas, traveling speed of torch, distance between glass and torch. As the glass edge sealing shape have effects on the insulation and airtightness and strength of the glass panel; the sealing shapes are predicted according to the process parameters. The paper highlight the nonlinear regression equations of the cross-sectional shape of the sealing shape according to the parameters, that is experimentally predicted later compared and verified the equation with the experimental result.

  • This study is focused on the investigation of the modal characteristics of the preliminary models of science technology satellite-3 (STSAT-3). Prior to the final decision of the composite structure model, several candidate structure models have been developed so as to find the most qualified structures with respect to the satellite structure systems' requirements and then utilize the information achieved to a real design. The main structure is composed of fiber reinforced composite faced honeycomb sandwich panel whose modal characteristics are found and compared to each other by means of finite element numerical analyses. Results from the current study demonstrate that a rectangular box shape having supporting inner panel shows relatively higher fundamental mode frequencies than octagonal box shape and etc., and regardless of the structure model shape tested herein, the fundamental mode turns out lateral bending mode.

Simulation of Unsteady Rotor-Fuselage Interaction Using an Improved Free-Wake Method (향상된 자유후류 기법을 이용한 비정상 로터-동체 상호작용 시뮬레이션)

  • This study is to investigate the aerodynamic effects of the Rotor-Fuselage Interactions in forward flight, and is conducted by using an improved time-marching free-wake panel method. To resolve the instability caused by the close proximity of the wake to the blade surface, the field velocity approach is added to the prior unsteady panel code. This modified method is applied to the ROBIN(ROtor Body Interaction) problem, which had been conducted experimentally in NASA. The calculated results, pressure distribution on fuselage surface and induced inflow ratio without and with the rotor, are compared with the experimental results. The developed code shows not only very accurate prediction of the aerodynamic characteristics for the rotor-fuselage interaction problem but also the rotor wake development.

Thermal Design and Analysis for Space Imaging Sensor on LEO (지구 저궤도에서 운용되는 영상센서를 위한 열설계 및 열해석)

  • Space Imaging Sensor operated on LEO is affected from the Earth IR and Albedo as well as the Sun Radiation. The Imaging Sensor exposed to extreme environment needs thermal control subsystem to be maintained in operating/non-operating allowable temperature. Generally, units are periodically dissipated on spacecraft panel, which is designed as radiator. Because thermal design of the imaging sensor inside a spacecraft is isolated, heat pipes connected to radiators on the panel efficiently transfer dissipation of the units. First of all, preliminary thermal design of radiating area and heater power is performed through steady energy balance equation. Based on preliminary thermal design, on-orbit thermal analysis is calculated by SINDA, so calculation for thermal design could be easy and rapid. Radiators are designed to rib-type in order to maintain radiating performance and reduce mass. After on-orbit thermal analysis, thermal requirements for Space Imaging Sensor are verified.
