Two experiments examined the visual memory distortion by presenting 170 subjects with wide-angle views of four scenes on monitor screen. Retention interval of 0, 1 and 48 hours tested in reproduction and recognition experiment. The results of reproduction showed that the subjects tend to magnify the foreground and background of scenes compared to the real input (scene) for all retention intervals. The viewers recognized mure wide-angle views for the same scenes at the retention interval of 1 and 48 hours. These results demonstrated boundary extension is not a robust and unidirectional phenomenon but boundary contraction can be occurred with wide-angle views. The results also suggested that boundary contraction is the product of the activation of a memory schema hypothesis: In memory the representation moves toward a prototypical view and prototypical object size.
In this study, memory for emotional words was compared between extraverts and introverts, employing signal detection analysis to distinguish differences in discriminative memory and response bias. Subjects were presented with a study list of emotional words in an encoding session, followed by a recognition session. Effects of task difficulty were examined by varying the nature of the encoding task and the intervals between study and test. For an easy task, with a retention interval of 5 minutes (Study I), introverts exhibited better memory (i.e., higher d') than extraverts, particularly for low-frequency words, and response biases did not differ between these two groups. For a difficult task, with a one-month retention period (Study II), performance was poor overall, and only high-frequency words were remembered; also extraverts adopted a more liberal criterion for 'old' responses (i.e., more hits and more false alarms) for positive emotional-valence words. These results suggest that as task difficulty drives down performance, effects of internal control processes become more apparent, revealing differences in response biases for positive words between extraverts and introverts. These results show that extraversion can distort memory performance for words, depending on their emotional valence.

This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary bacteriophage CP supplementation on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, blood profiles, visceral organ weight, meat quality and fecal microflora in broilers. A total of 340 1-d-old ROSS 308 broilers (mixed gender) with an initial average body weight (BW) of $41.14{\pm}0.17g$ were randomly allotted to 4 treatments with 5 replicate pens per treatment and 17 broilers per pen for 31 days. Dietary treatments were: 1) CON, control diet, 2) CP05, CON + 0.05% bacteriophage CP, 3) CP10, CON + 0.10% bacteriophage CP and 4) CP15, CON + 0.15% bacteriophage CP. During d 15 to d 31, broilers fed CP15 diet had higher (P<0.05) body weight gain and feed intake than broilers fed CON diet. Overall, body weight gain in CP10 and CP15 treatment groups was greater (P<0.05) than that in CON treatment and feed intake was higher (P<0.05) in CP15 treatment than that in CON. Apparent total tract nutrient digestibility and blood characteristics did not differ (P>0.05) among treatments. The water holding capacity of breast meat increased (P<0.05) in broiler fed the diets containing bacteriophage CP compared with those fed the CON diet. Other meat characteristics such as pH value, breast muscle color ($L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$) and drip loss were unaffected by dietary supplementation of bacteriophage CP. The weight of bursa of Fabricius increased (P<0.05) in CP05 when compared with CON. No significant difference was observed (P>0.05) among treatments in visceral weight and fecal microflora concentrations of Lactobacillus spp., Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli and Salmonella spp. In conclusion, dietary supplementation with 0.10 and 0.15% bacteriophage CP could improve the growth performance.
The effects of schema on accurate and false memories of items in a scene were investigated in two experiments: Recognition of items in a scene was tested immediately in Experiment 1 and three days later in Experiment 2. In both experiments, the following three variables were manipulated: Exposure time (250ms or 10000ms), picture mode (completed pictures or scrambled pictures), and manipulation mode (missing item or substituted item). Experiment 1 had yielded three important results: First, although accurate memory for presented items got increased when the exposure time was longer, false memory of the critical lures was not changed. Second, false memory of critical lures in the missing condition, where there was not any conflict between verbatim information and gist information, was higher than that of the substituted condition, where verbatim information of the item that replaced the lure was in conflict with the gist information. Third, accurate memory for atypical items in the substituted rendition, which had replaced the critical lures and in conflict with the schema, was higher than that in the missing condition. In Experiment 2, recognition test were administered 72 hours after the participants saw the picture. The three effects mentioned in Experiment 1 had disappeared in Experiment 2. The results of Experiment 2 might be due to the selective weakening of verbatim information compared to the persistence of the gist (or schematic) information. The results of Experiments 1 and 2 showed that false memory of critical lures is more persistent than the accurate memory of non-critical information. Theoretical implications of the results were considered in terms of the function of the verbatim and gist information.

The gene for ${\gamma}$-casein, a milk protein, is a member of a family of casein gene which is expressed in mammary glands of the animal during the late gestation and lactation periods binder the influence of various hormones. In order to elucidate tile mechanisms b)'which hormones regulate the coordinate induction of milk protein genes, the mouse ${\gamma}$-casein gene was isolated and characterized. The ${\gamma}$-casein gene was screened from a mouse genomic library constructed in bacteriophage EMBL3 with the ${\gamma}$-casein CDNA used as probe and one clone was obtained. The ${\gamma}$-casein CDNA as probe was partially sequenced and contained ATG start codon and 5'-noncoding region. The cloned genomic DNA was digested with Sal I restriction enzyme, by which the insert DNA can be isolated from EMBL3 vector. Three DNA bands were observed and the size of DNAs was approximately 28kb, 14kb and 9Kb, respectively Accordingly the size of the insert DNA was calculated with approximately 23Kb. The result of Southern blot analysis, however, showed that the cloned genomic DNA was not hybridized with the synthetic oligonucleotides (40 mer) of cDNA 5'-end region, but it was hybridized with the y -casein CDNA. This means that tile cloned y -casein gene may not contain its promoter region. The ${\gamma}$ -casein genomic DNA containing the promoter region has been screening from mouse genomic library with oligonucleotides of CDNA 5'-end region as probe, and twenty-nine clones was obtained.
