Performance comparison of PA(public address) power amplifier with different output level (출력 레벨에 따른 전관방송용 파워앰프의 성능 비교)

  • 본 논문에서는 전관방송 시스템에 사용되는 전관방송용 파워앰프에 대해 TTA에서 개발한 시험규격을 설명하고, 주요 시험항목에 대해 출력 레벨에 따라 어떠한 특성이 나타나는지 시험 결과를 분석하였다. 시험을 위해 현재 상용으로 판매되는 정격출력이 260 W, 360 W, 480 W, 600 W 인 앰프를 사용하였고, 각각의 앰프에 대해 정격출력, 1/2 정격, 1/4 정격, 1/8 정격, 10W, 1W 일 때 주파수 응답, 신호대잡음비, THD+N 비를 측정하여 비교하였다. 향후 본 논문의 시험 데이타가 전관방송용 앰프의 성능을 가늠할 때 중요 지표가 될 것으로 기대한다.

A Stereo Audio DAC with Asymmetric PWM Power Amplifier (비대칭 펄스 폭 변조 파워-앰프를 갖는 스테레오 오디오 디지털-아날로그 변환기)

  • A stereo audio digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a power amplifier using asymmetric pulse-width modulation (PWM) is presented. To adopt class-D amplifier mainly used in high-power audio appliances for head-phones application, this work analyzes the noise caused by the inter-channel interference during the integration and optimizes the design of the sigma-delta modulator to decrease the performance degradation caused by the noise. The asymmetric PWM is implemented to reduce switching noise and power loss generated from the power amplifier. This proposed architecture is fabricated in 0.13-mm CMOS technology. The proposed audio DAC including the power amplifier with single-ended output achieves a dynamic range (DR) of 95-dB dissipating 4.4-mW.

  • This paper is concerned with the development of power amplifier and controller for piezoelectric actuator and sensor used in smart structures. Even though a high-voltage power amplifier is provided in the form of an operational amplifier, a very high DC voltage is still necessary as a power supply. In this study, we propose a low-cost design for the power amplifier including the DC power supply. We also need a controller on which a control algorithm will be mounted. In general, a digital signal processing chip is popularly used because of high speed. However, only commercial product is available for smart structure applications. In this paper, a controller consisting of a DSP and electronic circuits suitable for piezoelectric sensor and actuator pair is proposed. To validate the proposed controller with power amplifier, experiment on smart structure was carried out. The experimental results show that the proposed control system can be effectively used for smart structure applications with low cost.

  • A new error amplifier is presented for fast transient response of DC-DC converters. The amplifier has low quiescent current to achieve high power conversion efficiency, but it can supply sufficient current during large signal operation. Two comparators detect large-signal variations, and turn on extra current supplier if necessary. The amount of extra current is well controlled, so that the system stability can be guaranteed in various operating conditions. The simulation results show that the new error amplifier achieves significant improvement in transient response than the conventional one.

  • This paper presents a Class-D type switched mode audio power amplifier employing ZVT(Zero-Voltage-Transition) soft switching technique. In order to obtain a wide bandwidth and lower distortion for an audio amplifier a high switching frequency is essential. The ZVT switching scheme enables a high frequency switching without sacrificing the efficiency much as in a hard switching. A prototype amplifier is built to demonstrate the feasibility of this technique for the audio power amplifier.

  • In this paper, medium-power wireless power transmission is implemented using the commercial power frequency (60 Hz). Since general magnetic induction wireless power transmission devices use more than several tens of kHz, the commercial power frequency (60 Hz) cannot be used as is. Therefore an AC/DC converter is used to convert the 60 Hz power frequency into DC, and a high-frequency power amplifier is used to convert DC into several tens of kHz. In magnetic induction wireless power transmission, the AC/DC converter and high-frequency power amplifier are removed, and a extremely low frequency wireless power transmission(ELF-WPT) system using commercial frequency consisting of only transmitting resonance tank, transmitting coil, receiving resonance tank, and receiving coil is implemented, and verified through wireless power transmission experiments.
