  • 연구결과는 학술적인 논문, 기술의 기반이 되는 특허, 기술이 체화된 상품 등 다양한 방법으로 도출되고 있다. 현재까지 연구 성과를 측정하는데 있어서 수치로 표시되는 정량적인 평가는 용이하게 활용하고 있다. 하지만 질적인 우수성을 평가하기 위한 정성적인 방법은 많은 연구를 필요로 한다. 각기 다른 목적이나 용도로 만들어진 평가지표나 방법론이 적절하게 적용하여 평가지표로 적용되어 지기는 힘든 상황이다. 특히 연구자나 기관 등의 평가 시 연구논문을 활용한 계량정보기법을 근간으로 하는 다양한 방법이 많은 연구자들을 통해 제시되고 있다. 또한 학술적인 논문뿐아니라 산업으로 대표되는 특허의 평가시도 유사한 방법을 활용하고 있다. 문헌의 경우는 SCI DB를 활용하여 정성적인 부분을 대체하고 있다. 하지만 산업으로 대표되는 특허의 정성 평가는 많이 활용하지 못하고 있다. 이에 특히 문헌 및 특허의 인용정보를 대상으로 최근 제안되고 있는 연구 성과 지표인 h-지수 등을 활용하여 사례를 분석하여 보고자 한다.

  • Activities to search for the new business items of the future in the public and private sectors, has been actively progressed. These generally come from the situation that current technology can not guarantee the future as the technologies and products are going to reach a certain limit. However, prior to these activities, it is necessary that watching for existing technology they're now actively using. It can provides keys to how to find new business items for the future based on the current situation of the technology and products lies. This study collects citation information from U.S. patents from 1976 to 2007 and analyses quantitatively top 1% of cited patents during the last five years of from 2003 to 2007 in the metal sector. It is shown that traditional patents have very long life cycle in the metal sector.

An Application of Patent Citation Network Analysis for Technology Marketing: A Case of a Public Research Institute (특허 인용 네트워크 분석을 활용한 기술마케팅의 효과성 제고방안에 관한 연구: 다성분 나노구조 코팅재료 공정기술 사례)

  • This study attempts to search for potential users of patents developed by public research institutes, emphasizing the importance of identifying potential users for successful technology marketing. On the basis of the theoretical argument that technological development show path-dependence, we analyzed patent citation network of a technology developed by a Korean public research institute to achieve the purpose of this research. The result shows that the potential users identified from our method are different from the institute's initial expectation. Therefore, we argue that the method using patent citation network is useful and effective for public research institutes' technology marketing. Lastly we suggest a new framework for technology marketing process in public research institutes.

  • Nowadays it is more important to measure the technological impact of a concerned R&D technology on others, when deciding or selecting strategically, under the environment such as more complex, more uncertain and more costly. But there was very few of proper methods to measure quantitatively. So we studied on measuring the technological impact of one group of technologies on others, which means the flow of disembodied knowledge, using patent citation analysis. We reviewed the prior art of the measurement of technological impact, and designs the effective citation analysis method using patent information, analyzing the prior art of patent citation analysis method and ie index. Finally, we developed the disembodied knowledge flow matrix between technology groups, counting citation frequencies between them, using KISTI's US patent database(USPA) and the index to represent the technological impact to others using the developed matrix as well as the intrinsic nature of the technological groups clustering by network analysis. The results of this study is to present the insight of a technological impact on the others quantitatively and this study aims at using them to refer to R&D budgeting and decision making in case of R&D planning or to the basic information to understand technology conversion or fusion.

  • Tracing an evolutionary technological trajectory in the macroscopic viewpoint is useful for technology policy, but not for corporate technology and intellectual property strategy. Tackling this issue, recent bibliometric studies using patents and papers have made efforts to identify more specific and detailed technological trajectory. However, these studies cannot go beyond simple description of the past trajectory. Also, identification of technology fusion and evolution relies on experts judgments. We suggest a way of identifying microscopic evolutionary technological trajectories by combining patent citation network analysis with dynamic technology tree. Also, using new indicators of generality, diversity and novelty, we can detect key technologies that can be a starting point of next generation technology and derivative technology. HVDC(High Voltage DC transmission) system technology is exemplified.

  • In this paper, we analysis a competition to organize knowledge map as initial prepare stage based on intellectual property. We also propose the method that can be used to constitute knowledge map related in area to use basic data. In order to extract analysis data, we choose LED as an analysis technology. We provide the result of total analysis for LED application area through analysis of patent level after we extract recent patent ratio, activity index, patent family size, cites per patent as center of patent data.

  • Patent data have both properties of technological and industrial information. They satisfy explicit requirements for originality, technological validity, and commercial value. They comprise all fields of innovation for a long period of time. They show their own qualitative importance by forward citation of them. In this paper, we attempt to establish and apply an analytical model and process based on informetric approach using patent information in order to predict emerging technologies which have the possibility of industrial development in the future.

  • In this study we analyzed factors affecting the life cycle of technology, quantified the evaluation criteria that will affect the life of the individual technologies, and finally proposed the improvements to calculate technology life cycle that the properties of individual technologies are reflected based on cited-patent life time(CLT). It is expected that the methodology proposed improves the limits of the existing standard model, presents more reasonable criteria and ease of persuasion on the results derived by appraisers, and finally gives a lot of the feasibility and the usability of technology life cycle derived by the improved method to appraisers.

A Study on the Impact of Patent Quality on the Firm's Market Value (특허의 질적 가치가 기업의 시장가치에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구)

  • As corporate management enters the era of informatization or knowledge management, the level of patent quality, which is the fruit of R&D and technical innovation, is an important element of corporate competitiveness in this age of unbridled competition. This study analyzes the relevance between R&D stocks and 6 types of knowledge stock (patent quality) and corporate market values in utilization of related research models. With Tobin Q model utilized, 108,851 U.S. patents (observed value per year: 2,795) registered by 402 domestic enterprises were analyzed. As the Hall model was analyzed, it turned out that the R&D stock/asset, claim stock/patent stock, and citation stock/patent stock had positive effect on corporate market values. The inventor stock/patent stock also show positive effect on corporate market values.
