Relationship between fracture distribution and the acidity of mine drainage at the Il-Gwang Mine (일광광산의 절리분포 특성과 광산배수 산성도의 관계)

  • We established a stochastic 3-D fracture network system for fractured rock masses located in Il-Gwang Mine, Busan, to explore the relationship between the acidity of mine drainage and fracture geometry. A field scanline survey and borehole image processing were performed to estimate the best probability distributions of fracture geometry parameters. The stochastic 3-D fracture network system constructed for the rock masses was validated and deemed to be successful. The 3-D fracture network model was suitable for developing conceptual ideas on fluid flow in fractures at a field experimental site. An injection well and three observation wells were drilled at the field experimental site to monitor the acidity of mine drainage induced by the injection of fresh water. The field experiment, which was run for 29 days, yielded a significant relationship (with a high coefficient of determination) between the fracture geometry parameters and the acidity of mine drainage. The results show that pH increased with increasing relative frequency of fracture strike, and decreased with increasing fracture density. The concentration of $SO^{2-}_4$ decreased with increasing relative frequency of fracture strike, and increased with increasing fracture density.

The Dynamic Optimal Fisheries Management for Spanish Mackerel (삼치어종의 동태적 최적어업관리)

  • The purposes of this study are to not only estimate optimal harvests and efforts using the surplus production methods for Spanish mackerel caught by multiple fishing gears, but provide dynamic optimal fisheries management for these gears using the current value Hamiltonian method. To achieve the above purposes this study uses several models such as Gavaris's general linear model for standardizing fishing efforts, surplus production method for estimating biological and technological coefficients, current value Hamiltonian method for estimating dynamic optimal harvest and efforts, and sensitivity analysis for diagnosing economic influences of these fisheries. As a result, this study showed that Spanish mackerel was overfished by multiple fishing gears based on surplus production method and the current value Hamiltonian method. Also, this study found that when the price and cost proportionally changed, the optimal harvest and fishing effort sensitively responded to the stock level of Spanish mackerel. Next, this study suggested that the multiple fishing gears for Spanish mackerel should reduce unnecessary costs such as operating time or inefficient fuel consumption. Finally, this study provided reasons Spanish mackerel should be included in the TAC system in a view of profit maximization based on sustainable use of the Spanish mackerel.

  • Recently, the offshore wind power generator market is expected to grow significantly because of increased energy demand, reduced dependence on fossil fuel-based power generation, and environmental regulations. Consequently, wind power generation is increasing worldwide, and several attempts have been made to utilize offshore wind power. Norway's Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) requires a leg-structure design with a collision energy of 35 MJ owing to the event of a collision under operation conditions. In this study, the results of the numerical analysis of a wind turbine installation vessel subjected to ship collision were set such that the maximum collision energy that the leg could sustain was calculated and compared with the PSA requirements. The current leg design plan does not satisfy the required value of 35 MJ, and it is necessary to increase the section modulus by more than 200 % to satisfy the regulations, which is unfeasible in realistic leg design. Therefore, a collision energy standard based on a reasonable collision scenario should be established.

A Study on the Performance and Combustion Characteristics with CNG Substitution Rate in a Diesel Engine (CNG 혼소율 변화에 따른 디젤엔진의 성능 및 연소 특성에 관한 연구)

  • In the international natural gas market, natural gas has markedly low calories. The domestic calories standard of natural gas was changed and the performance and efficiency of many industrial machines using natural gas were affected because of low caloric natural gas. Therefore, in this study, a dual fuel engine fueled with natural gas and diesel was tested to examine the effects of the CNG substitution rate on the combustion characteristics, such as thermal efficiency, COVimep and heat release rate. The CNG substitution rate was defined as the ratio of CNG instead of diesel, which was calculated as the total energy. The conditions of the tested engine were fixed $1800rpm/500N{\cdot}m$. In addition, diesel fuel was injected at $16^{\circ}CA$ BTDC and the fuel pressure was fixed at 85 MPa; the lower heating value of CNG was $10,400kcal/Nm^3$. The results of the engine test showed that the amount of diesel fuel was changed according to the CNG substitution rate. Therefore, when the substitution rate was increased, the amount of diesel fuel was decreased, which affected the energy for ignition. In addition, the ignition delay duration was increased, which affected the thermal efficiency and torque. On the other hand, the COVimep was less than 5% and a stable combustion state of the engine was shown.

Stability Evaluation of Track on Conventional Line According to Traveling Tilting Train (틸팅차량 주행에 따른 기존선 궤도의 주행안정성 평가)

  • A tilting train, which was developed to run the curve section without reducing the speed and compromising the riding quality, can improve the speed so as to reduce the travel time, compared to the existing trains. Then the force generated by the train operation to the track is in proportion to train operation speed, which means the track shall bear the increased force as much as the increase in train operation speed. Particularly, wheel load and lateral wheel load generated by train operation and distributed to the rail tend to cause the track to suffer the strain and furthermore the severe disaster such as derailment. To deal with such problem and ensure the train will run safety and stably, the tolerance in wheel load change, lateral wheel load and derailment coefficient was determined for quantitative evaluation of the train operation stability. In this study, derailment coefficient of inner and outer rail at existing curve section of tilting train was determined to evaluate the curve radius, possibility of acceleration and the need of rail improvement, which was then compared with the existing traditional train and high speed train. Conducting the quantitative evaluation of dynamic wheel load and lateral wheel load of each train, which was based on field survey, derailment coefficient and static & dynamic wheel load change, which serve the evaluation criteria of train operation stability, were determined for comparison with the standards, thereby analyzing the stability of the tilting train.

  • 유량 환산에 이용되는 수위-유량 관계곡선식은 하천의 흐름을 정상 등류상태로 가정하고 유속계를 하천에 투입하여 년간 정해진 횟수의 유량측정을 실시하여 이로부터 갱신하여 작성하고 있다. 평수기에는 이렇게 기기를 이용하여 유량측정이 가능하지만 홍수기나 갈수기에는 접촉식 유속계를 이용한 하천유량 측정이 불가능한 실정이다. 홍수기에는 기기 손상과 관측자의 안전이 위협받는 실정이고, 갈수기에는 유속이 너무 느려서 (0.1 m/s 이하) 프로펠러 유속계의 경우 유속의 정확한 관측이 힘들다. 또한 전지구적 빈번한 이상기후의 현실정에서 가장 중요한 기초 수문자료인 홍수량의 정확한 측정 자료는 많지 않다. 홍수유량을 측정하기 위해서 현재에도 기존의 봉부자를 이용하거나 유비쿼터스 센서를 장착한 봉부자를 이용하는 유량측정 기법이 향해지고 계속적으로 소개되고 있는 실정이지만 봉부자의 특성상 정확한 유량을 계산하기에는 어려움이 많다. 현재 선진국에서는 흐름과 비접촉식 방법을 이용한 하천유량측정 방법이 지난 10 여년간 꾸준이 연구되어 왔다. 그중 대표전인 것이 전자파를 이용한 방법과 영상해석에 의한 방법이다. 전자의 경우 국내에서는 수자원공사에서 10년 이상 연구 개발하여 상품화 시킨바 현업에서 이를 이용하여 홍수유량측정을 실시하고 있다. 후자의 방법은 유체역학 분야에서 흐름해석에 주로 이용되어지던 PIV(particle image velocimetry) 기법을 하천과 같이 대규모의 흐름영역에 적용가능하도록 개발된 기술로 LSPIV (large-casle particle image velocimetry)라 불리우는 기술이다. 본 연구에서는 미국 Iowa 대학에서 개발한 LSPIV를 이용하여 홍수파의 진행시 수위와 유량의 두 변수 사이에 나타나는 Loop rating curve의 이론적인 관계를 하천현장에서 일정시간 간격으로 실측을 통하여 파악하고자 하였다. 현장실험을 위한 대상지점으로 미국 Iowa주 Coralville 시내 Clear Creek의 USGS (US Geologival Survey) 수위관측소 지점을 선택하여 본 연구에서 실시한 유량측정 결과의 비교가 가능토록 하였다. LSPIV는 그 특성상 야간에는 적용하는데 어려움이 있어 아침시간부터 해가 지기 직전까지의 자연채광 조건의 영상취득이 가능한 시간대에서 표면유속을 측정하였고 이에 수심평균유속환산계수를 적용하여 유량을 계산하였다. 강우의 발생으로 인한 홍수파의 진행시 총 43회의 유량을 측정하였는바 이를 이용하여 이 지점의 수위-유량 관계식과 비교한 결과 거의 일치하는 결과를 나타냈다. 특히 홍수파의 진행시 고수위 영역에서의 측정한 결과는 수위의 상승기에는 최고로 7.5% 까지 측정유량이 수위-유량관계식에서 계산한 유량보다 컸으며, 수위의 하강기에는 반대로 최고 5.4% 정도까지 측정유량이 수위-유량관계식에서 계산한 유량보다 작게 나타났다. 또한 최대유량의 발생시기는 최고수위 발생직전의 수위라는 것이 파악되었다. 이러한 경향은 수위-유량 관계곡선의 이론과 잘 일치하는 것이다.

The Impact of Self-Reported Knowledge and Self-perceived Importance about Earth Systems on Science Gifted Students' Science Motivation: An Exploratory Study (과학 영재 학생의 지구계에 대한 지식과 중요성이 과학 동기에 미치는 영향: 탐색적 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation among science gifted students' self-reported knowledge and self-perceived importance about Earth systems, and their science motivation. Ninety three seventh graders participated in this study who enrolled at Science Gifted Institute of K university. The correlation was measured by a validated Earth systems survey and Science Motivation Questionnaire (SMQ). The data were analyzed at the margin of error probability 0.05 using correlation and regression analysis. The result of reliability for items turned out high because the Cronbach's alphas were .896~.937. Results indicated that the correlation between self-reported knowledge on Earth systems and science motivation showed a correlation coefficient .656, whereas the correlation between importance on Earth systems and science motivation was .387, which was regarded as low. On the other hands, the result of regression analysis depicted that non-std. coefficients between students' self-reported knowledge about Earth systems and science motivation were .548 (.077), which lead to the conclusion that students' knowledge on Earth systems explained 43% of science motive-variation. It implied that Earth systems education program could impact the increased motivation of science gifted-students. Therefore, this study suggests that the various Earth systems education programs could be developed and implemented in order to increase students' motivation on studying science in general and Earth science in specific.

The Effect of Oxygen Supply on the Production of Citric Acid from Encapsulated Aspergillus niger (산소공급이 캡슐고정화 Aspergillus niger의 구연산 생산에 미치는 영향)

  • Encapsulated Aspergillus niger was prepared in order to inspect the effect of oxygen supply on the production of citric acid. A. niger cells which had been immobilized in the calcium alginate capsule grew and mycellia penetrated through the capsule membrane after two days of cultivation and covered over all of the capsule after eight days. The mycellia became loose when the nitrogen source was sufficient of oxygen was deficient. The larger amount of encapsulated cells were put into a given growth medium, the smaller quantity of citric acid was produced. The increase of volumetric oxygen transfer coefficient from 1.8 $hr^-$ to 2.55 $hr^-$ in the flask culture accelerated cell growth rate but did not influence the production of citric acid. The high oxygen supply rate($k_La:\;150\;hr^-$) in the concentric air lift reactor hastened the growth of cells and hindered the production of the citric acid. The reduction of nitrogen source level in the growth medium in the concentric air lift reactor increased citric acid production by 40 percent of that of flask cultivation and the culture period was shortened by 3 days. The variation of the geometry of the concentric air lift reactor did not influence the growth rate of encapsulated cells and production rate of citric acid.

Characteristics on the Removal of Emulsified Vegetable Oil in Wastewater using Bio logical Fluidized Bed (생물학적(生物學的) 유동층(流動層)을 이용(利用)한 수중(水中)의 식물성유(植物性油) 제거특성(除去特性))

  • In this paper, the experimental study was carried out for the removal of olive oil in wastewater by the use of Biological Fluidized Bed(BFB) with the reticulated polypropylene sheets as media. The nonbiodegradable olive oil, one of the animal and vegitable oil, was used bacause of the relative simplicity of constitution. Biological degraciability and removal characteristics of emulsified olive oil were studied by batch and continuous experiments respectively. From the results of batch experiments, it was observed that the emulsified olive oli used in BFB reactor was absorbed by media and sludge in about 12 hours, and degradation of the absorbed olive oli was mostly completed for 24 hours. The functional relationship of Michaelis-Menten's Enzyme reaction equation exists between oil concentration and maximum specific rate of olive oil. From the continuous experiments for the removal of olive oil using BFB reactor, it was proved that the substrate removal rate coefficient $k=0.004d^{-1}$, which is the first order kinetics. It was apperared that oxygen utlization coefficients for synthesis(a') and endogeneous respiration(b') of microorganisms in the reactor are respectively 0.85mg $O_2/mg$ $COD_{cr}$ and 0.011mg $O_2/mg$ BVS. day.

  • 질적 보장은 전문직 종사자에 의하여 수혜받는 대상자를 보호하기 위하여 전적으로 필요한 프로그램이다. 이러한 질적보장을 통하여 전문직의 자율성과 책임을 튼튼히 할 수 있는 의무는 전문직 종사자 모두의 관심사가 되어야 한다. 미국에 있어서 질적 간호에 대한 관심은 이제 새로운 이유가 아니다. Beyers(1988)는 건강체계 지도자 사이에 가장 중요한 문제로 강조하는 것이 수혜자의 이용의 용이성(Access), 숫가(Cost) 그리고 질적인 제공(Quality)이 라고 피력 하였다. 미국 건강사업 평가자와 조정자(Regulator)들은 질(Quality)을 위한 자율적인 프로그램에 많은 에너지를 투입하여 전반적인 건강사업 즉 의료계의 질보장, 더 나아가서는 간호의 질을 향상 시키기 위한 많은 프로그램을 분석 연구한다. 이 논문은 간호에 있어서 질적 보장을 위한 내용으로 주요점은 질적 보장에 사용되는 용어, 역사적 배경, 질적 보장을 강조하는 이유, 질적 보장제도의 개발, 질 사정(euali assessment)과 질적 보장에 있어서 간호 전문직 개입을 차례대로 설명하였다. 구미의 경우 1970년대부터 간호직에 있어서는 질적보장제도개발에 우선순위를 두게되어 미 간호협회에서는 Professional Standards Review Organizations (PSRO)에 근거하여 간호실무를 위한 표준을 내어놓았다. 질적보장을 위한 평가방법으로 구조, 과정, 결과 그리고 수혜자가 간호계획을 세우는데 사정에 참여하는 방법 등 4가지를 간략하게 설명하였다. 질적 보장을 향상시키기 위해서는 전문직과 공공의료기간이 서로 협동체가 되어 중추역할을 해야함을 강조하고 이렇게 서로 협력하므로써만이 비로서 우리의 목적을 성취할 수 있다고 생각된다.구 등이 이용된다. $^{166}$ Ho, $^{198}$ Au, $^{32}$P, $^{90}$ Y, $^{169}$ Er, $^{186}$ Rc, $^{131}$ I, $^{211}$ At 등 의 방사성 핵종의 교질, 미소구 또는 단세포군 항체표지 형태로 직접 종양내 또는 공동이나 체강에 투여하는 치료법이 있다. 류마치스 관절염의 슬관절에 $^{165}$ Dy colloid를 주사하는 $^{166}$ Ho-MAA도 활발히 이용되고 있다. and computed groundwater levels. 본 논문에서는 가파른 산사면에서 산사태의 발생을 예측하기 위한 수문학적 인 지하수 흐름 모델을 개발하였다. 이 모델은 물리적인 개념에 기본하였으며, Lumped-parameter를 이용하였다. 개발된 지하수 흐름 모델은 두 모델을 조합하여 구성되어 있으며, 비포화대 흐름을 위해서는 수정된 abcd 모델을, 포화대 흐름에 대해서는 시간 지체 효과를 고려할 수 있는 선형 저수지 모델을 이용하였다. 지하수 흐름 모델은 토층의 두께, 산사면의 경사각, 포화투수계수, 잠재 증발산 량과 같은 불확실한 상수들과 a, b, c, 그리고 K와 같은 자유모델변수들을 가진다. 자유모델변수들은 유입-유출 자료들로부터 평가할 수 있으며, 이를 위해서 본 논문에서는 Gauss-Newton 방법을 이용한 Bard 알고리즘을 사용하였다. 서울 구로구 시흥동 산사태 발생 지역의 산사면에 대하여 개발된 모델을 적용하여 예제 해석을 수행함으로써, 지하수 흐름 모델이 산사태 발생
