Relationship of the Use of Information and Communication Technologies with the Change of Travel Frequencies Korea Society of Transportation (정보통신 이용행태와 직장인의 통행빈도 변화의 연관성 연구)

  • This study is aimed at identifying the association of change of travel frequencies with information and communications technologies, commuting behavior for 995 workers in the Korea Capital Region. The study surveyed total 995 commuters whose their individual character, commuting behavior, land use as well as ICTs. The measures of the commuting behavior was comprised of a main commuting mode, a use tern, total travel time, and those of land use was the distance from house/office to subway station, and those of ICTs was data and information collection, communication and leisure, online selling or purchases, finance and a civil application, cellular phone service using capacity and so on. The results indicate that commuting behavior, land use, and ICTs are positively associated to change of travel frequencies. Specifically, longer total travel time, or far from house/office to subway station, tend to reduce commuting behavior and collect data and information through internet

Effectiveness of en-route traffic information service for various network structure and congestion level (가로망구조 및 통행수요 변화에 따른 통행중 교통정보제공 효과분석)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 가로망의 구조 및 통행수요의 변화에 따라 통행 중 교통정보제공의 효과가 어떻게 달라지는가를 모의실험을 통하여 분석하고자 하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 본 연구에서는 실제의 대규모 가로망에 대하여 적용할 수 있는 통행배정기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 모형은 시간의 흐름에 따른 가로망의 상태를 고려하여 통행을 배정하는 방법으로 $\ulcorner$시간종속적 통행배정$\lrcorner$이라 명하였다. 본 연구에서는 가로망 형태(격자형 및 방사환상형), 가로망 크기, 통행수요의 지역별 분포, 그리고 교통혼잡정도에 따라 각각 시나리오를 작성하고, 각 시나리오에 대하여 모의실험 및 사례연구(노드 348개, 링크 1179개)를 통해 정보를 받는 차량의 비율에 따른, 그리고 정보를 제공하는 빈도에 따른 통행중 교통정보제공에 대한 효과를 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 모의실험에서는 정보를 받는 차량의 비율이 30%~70% 구간에서 14%까지의 총체계비용의 감소효과가 나타났으며, 가로망의 규모가 클수록, 혼잡이 심할수록, 그리고 대안도로가 많을수록 교통정보제공의 효과는 커지는 것으로 분석되었다.

Analysis of Trip Generation Behavior Based on the Multiday Travel Data (일기식 개인통행행태를 고려한 통행발생 예측)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 일주일간 조사된 개인통행행태를 고려한 각 특성별 통행발생예측 방법을 제시하는데 있다. 이를 위하여 일주일간 통행빈도수의 차이를 고려한 집단간 차이를 검정하고, 그 원인을 분석하여 이에 따른 특성별 개인 통행발생예측 모형을 정립하였다. 전체 표본의 각 특성별 개인 내부 변이성을 분석해 본 결과 기간의 차이에 따른 개인 통행행태의 변화는 직업별, 나이별, 성별, 차량소유 유무, 주택소유 형태, 통행목적, 통행수단, 가구원수에 따라 집단간 차이를 보여주었다. 이러한 변수를 이용한 통행발생 예측모형의 분석결과 개인소득이 높을수록, 주책을 자가로 소유한 경우, 자동차를 소유한 경우, 학생일수록, 유직일수록 개인 통행발생량이 많은 것으로 분석되었다. 반면, 아니는 연령대가 높아질수록 통행수가 적어졌다.

Analysing Weekend Travel Characteristics in Seoul (서울시 주말 통행특성 분석 연구)

  • Trip demands and patterns on weekends have been changed significantly over the past decade due to the income growth and the spread of the 5-day workweek in Korea. The increased weekend trips for shopping, leisure activities, entertainment and friendship have exacerbated traffic congestion in major highways or principal arterial roads from Friday afternoon through Sunday. Therefore, it is necessary to focus on travel demand forecasts and transport policies for weekend trips by investigating specific characteristics of the trips. Previous research efforts focus on simple analysis of characteristics of weekend trips and comparison of travel characteristics between weekdays and weekends. The paper analyzes the differences between weekday and weekend trips via statistical analyses to derive multiple types of characteristics of weekend trips, and develops Tobit models to identify key factors that may affect the number of trips, using Seoul city's weekend trip survey data in 2006. The model results show that weekend trips appear differently from weekdays by household or individual characteristics. Age, residence area and type of residence affected the number of trips, regardless of the type of the day, whereas gender, occupation, income, presence of household vehicle showed different impacts on trips between weekdays and weekends.

Marginal Effect Analysis of Travel Behavior by Count Data Model (가산자료모형을 기초로 한 통행행태의 한계효과분석)

  • In general, the linear regression model has been used to estimate trip generation in the travel demand forecasting procedure. However, the model suffers from several methodological limitations. First, trips as a dependent variable with non-negative integer show discrete distribution but the model assumes that the dependent variable is continuously distributed between -$\infty$ and +$\infty$. Second, the model may produce negative estimates. Third, even if estimated trips are within the valid range, the model offers only forecasted trips without discrete probability distribution of them. To overcome these limitations, a poisson model with a assumption of equidispersion has frequently been used to analyze count data such as trip frequencies. However, if the variance of data is greater than the mean. the poisson model tends to underestimate errors, resulting in unreliable estimates. Using overdispersion test, this study proved that the poisson model is not appropriate and by using Vuong test, zero inflated negative binomial model is optimal. Model reliability was checked by likelihood test and the accuracy of model by Theil inequality coefficient as well. Finally, marginal effect of the change of socio-demographic characteristics of households on trips was analyzed.

Analysis and Estimation of Factors Affecting Travel Time Budget (통행시간예산의 요인분석 및 추정)

  • The traveler's travel pattern has significantly changed due to the social and economic changes. The travel time among the traveler's pattern is the limited resource. The travelers are trying to maximize the utility of travel with the least travel cost. So, the travelers travel with their own travel time budget in mind, which they can pay or choose to pay for the optimal maximization of the utility of the individuals. This research is to group and extract the specific factors which affect the travel time budget by utilizing the CART analysis method, which enables the analysis of traveler's characteristics and their interrelationship based on the data collected from "2002 Household Travel Practice Research" and then try to derive a model for estimating the traveler’s travel time budget. The result of CART analysis shows that the factors which affect the travel time budget include the traveler's age, size of house, type of house, type of employment, job and relation to the head of household. Considering the affecting factors derived, I developed an estimation model. From that model, we found that the age, size of house and type of house were positively (+) related to the travel time budget while the homeworking people who have less travel frequency as a type of employment were negatively (-) related to it. In particular, from the point of type of job, the housewives, children not yet old enough to attend schools and people who are working in the agricultural, or marine product industries were found to have the negative (-) value while the people who have the administrative, office, management jobs were found to have the positive (+) value.

  • Travel choice behavior is affected by real-time traffic information. Recently, in urban area, real-time traffic information is provided by several instruments such as transportation broadcasting, internet PC network and variable message sign, etc. Furthermore, it has been increasing for urban travelers to use real-time traffic information provided by several instruments. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of advanced traveler information on urban worker's travel choice behavior. Among several Advanced Traveler Information System(ATIS) employed in urban area. This study focuses on examining the effects of transportation broadcasting on urban worker's travel choice behavior. This study attempts to examine traveler's mode change behavior in the pre-trip stage and traveler's route change behavior in the on-route stage. For this study, the survey data collected from Daegu City in 2000 is used. For empirical analysis, several nested logit models are estimated, and among them, the best models are reported in this paper. Furthermore, based on the empirical models estimated for this research, important findings and their policy implications are discussed.

  • 현재까지 개발된 교통량 기반 O/D 추정기법들은 추정된 O/D의 신뢰성을 평가하는 기준으로 통계적 오차분석을 통한 참O/D(true O/D)와 추정O/D간의 타이를 분석하는 방법이 주류를 이루었다. 문제는 이러한 오차분석기법들이 현실적인 대규모 교통망상에 적용될 때 탐O/D를 알 수 없을 뿐만 아니라, 알 수 있다고 하더라도 추정된 O/D와의 비교 평가시에 그러한 평가방법으로 추정된 O/D의 신뢰성을 부여하기에는 많은 문제점을 가지고 있다는 점이다. 통행조사에 의한 O/D는 비록 포함되어 있는 정보가 과거의 정보라고 할지라도 현재의 통행흐름에 대하여 가장 많은 정보를 가지고 있다고 할 수 있다. 즉, 선행O/D의 정보를 크게 변화시키지 않으면서도 관측교통량으로 O/D를 추정할 수 있는 방법이 이 관점에서 매우 뛰어난 추정방법이라고 할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 본 연구에서는 선행O/D정보 중 통행수요예측시 가장 중요한 지표의 하나인 통행시간빈도분포 (TriP Length Frequency Distribution:TLFD)를 이용하여 추정O/D의 신뢰성 지표로 삼았다. TLFD는 4단계 모형에서 통행분포(trip distribution)시 모형을 정산하는 데 사용되는 방법으로써 죤간 통행시간을 단위별로 나누어 조사된 통행시간분포와 추정된 O/D의 통행시간분포가 유사한 지를 살피는 방법이라고 할 수 있다. 조사된 TLFD와 추정O/D의 TLFD가 유사한 모양을 이를 때 추정O/D의 신뢰성이 높다고 인정한다. 또한 TLFD는 전통적으로 조사된 표본O/D를 전 수화하는데 이용되어 그 타당성 또한 많이 검증되어 왔다. 그러나 아직까지 TLFD를 가지고 교통량으로 O/D를 추정하는 모형의 결과를 검증한 연구 결과는 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 최종적인 이러한 분석결과를 평가할 수 있을 뿐 아니라, 평가된 지표가 신뢰할 만한 수준이 아니라면, 추정된 결과를 보정할 수 있는 가능성을 제시하고자 한다.

  • KTX step 1 April 2004, after the opening, the second phase of the project was opened in November 2010. High-speed rail after the opening and continue to increase the demand of high-speed rail, Have the speed of competitive advantage compared too the means of transportation. The opening of these high-speed rail has led to changes of the move, the company's position, and the spatial structure of the population of reorganization, such as the social, economic, transportation. In this study, survey data using the High Speed Rail Station EMME/2 of the program to take advantage of the 2-Dimentional Blancing trip distribution to investigate the passage through the trip distribution by the estimation of the parameters of the model to estimate the distribution of the means of access and high-speed rail station to reproduce and Analysis of the results by means of access parameters (${\theta}$) autos 0.0395, buses 0.0390, subway 0.0650, taxi 0.0415, the frequency distribution (Trip Length Frequency Distribution: TLFD) were analyzed survey data value model with the results of comparing $R^2$ cars analysis and model values similar survey data 0.909 bus 0.923, subway 0.745 to 0.922, taxi, F test P value analysis is smaller than 0.05 at the 95% confidence level as a note that was judged to have been. Trip frequency distribution analysis, but in the future, set the unit to 5km-trip frequency distribution middle zone Units from small zone units (administrative district) segmentation research is needed, and can reflect the trip distance 0~5 km interval combined function to take advantage of the gravity model and the 3-Dimentional Blancing applied research is needed to be considered.

A Study on the Intercity Mode Choice Behavior of Daegu Citizens According to the Introduction of Gyeongbu High-Speed Railway (경부 고속철도 개통에 따른 대구시민의 지역 간 통행수단 선택행태 분석에 관한 연구)

  • After the first opening of the KTX in April 2004, travel time between major cities has been dramatically reduced. The reduction rates range from 32% to 47%. Considering travel time reduction between major cities, this study concerned about the intercity travel impact of the KTX operation. This study aimed to analyze intercity mode choice behavior of Daegu Citizens according to the first opening of the KTX. This study takes place in two sections. These are (i) the section of KTX between Daegu and Seoul, and (ii) the section of KTX between Daegu and Daejeon. This study estimated empirical models for analyzing intercity mode choice behavior according to the first opening of the KTX. This study makes use of the data from travel survey from Daegu metropolitan area. The main part of the survey was carried out in the KTX Dong-Daegu station. The survey data includes the information on travel from Daegu to Daejeon and from Daegu to Seoul. In order to analyze intercity choice behavior according to the frist opening of the KTX, multinomial model structure is used. For the model specification, a variety of behavioral assumptions about the factors which affect the mode choice, were considered. From the empirical model estimation, it is found that OVTT(Out-of-Vehicle Travel Time), OVTC(Out-of-Vehicle Travel Cost), IVTT(In-Vehicle Travel Time), IVTC(In-Vehicle Travel Cost), travel frequency, travel purpose, sex, age, occupation. household income, individual income are significant in choosing intercity travel mode. However, it is found that the intercity nde choice behavior is different between (i) the section of KTX between Daegu and Seoul, and (ii) the section of KTX between Daegu and Daejeon. Furthermore, some policy implications are discussed in conclusion.
