The purpose of this paper is to design a model of integrated OPAC called as EconRef. This model not only provides users of libraries with systematic, rapid information service, but also supports librarians to do their tasks effectively. The designed model is constructed based on two operating systems such as REGIS system and The Book House and is developed by using KPWin++ is an expert system shell which combines hypertext and expert system functions. The designed system consists of six modules ; three reference expert systems for document sources, experts and statistical sources; OPAC ; external database ; user's guide. For the evaluation of the designed system, performance of EconRef system is compared with that of the naive and expert reference librarians. And also the features of the system are compared with those of REGIS systems. The tests comparing BconRef system searching with librarians searching have shown that EconRef system is at least as good as searching with expert librarians and much superior to searching with naive librarians.

정보봉사의 패러다임이 소유중심에서 접근서비스로 변하는 추세에 기인하여 도서관자동화의 미래 경향은 기존의 소장목록정보와 같은 자체제작 DB외에도 CD-ROM이나 마그네틱테잎으로 구입된 외부제작 DB, 인터넷을 비롯한 네트워크를 통한 외부정보를 제공하고, 더나아가 상업적 온라인서비스까지도 제공하는 통합 OPAC으로 발전하게 될 것이다.

본 연구에서 구축하고자 하는 통합OPAC은 특정 주제의 문헌정보원, 전문가정보원, 통계정보원을 제시해 주는 참고봉사 전문가 시스템, 온라인 열람목록(OPAC), 이용 안내, 외부데이타베이스의 검색 모듈이 결합된 시스템이다. 지식베이스는 문헌정보원 지식베이스, 전문가정보원 지식베이스, 통계정보원 지식베이스로 구성된다. 지시베이스의 추론방법은 전진추론(forword chining) 방식을 채택하였다. 시스템의 구현 환경은 먼저 하드웨어는 IBM 호완기종의 개인용 컴퓨터들(IBM386-DX33이상)을 사용하고 시스템 개발도구로는 전문가시스템과 하이퍼텍스트가 결합된 쉘(shell)인 KPWin++를 이용하였고 문헌정보원, 전문가정보원, 통계정보원에서의 키워드추출 등 정보처리 작업은 터보C를 사용하였다.

OPAC is a very important interface for user to use and search library collection and electronic resources. The purpose of this study is to analyze empirically the impact of OPAC usability on user satisfaction and loyalty in an university library setting. The OPAC functions investigated are keyword searching, integrated searching, faceted navigation, relevance ranking, spelling check, recommendations, user participation, and Really Simple Syndication(RSS), etc. This study investigated what usability effects on user satisfaction and loyalty and suggested the way to improve user satisfaction and loyalty.

This study is to develop a hierarchic clustering model fur document classification and browsing in OPAC systems. Two automatic indexing techniques (with and without controlled terms), two term weighting methods (based on term frequency and binary weight), five similarity coefficients (Dice, Jaccard, Pearson, Cosine, and Squared Euclidean). and three hierarchic clustering algorithms (Between Average Linkage, Within Average Linkage, and Complete Linkage method) were tested on the document collection of 175 books and theses on library and information science. The best document clusters resulted from the Between Average Linkage or Complete Linkage method with Jaccard or Dice coefficient on the automatic indexing with controlled terms in binary vector. The clusters from Between Average Linkage with Jaccard has more likely decimal classification structure.

The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the functions and characteristics of search interfaces of Korean Old and Rare Collection Information System(KORCIS) and Korean History Online. The checklist of OPAC functionalities proposed by Breeding was used to examine eleven functions of these systems. Both system provide the following functions: Search by keywords; Boolean operators in queries; Order results chronologically; Modify search without re-keying the initial terms ; Search within result sets ; and Ability to limit results to an individual library or education. They do not provide such functions as Browse by author, title, subject and View and recall the search history for the current session. Adoption of standard OPAC and next-generation catalog functionalities, in-depth understanding of user needs and information seeking behaviors, and the improvement of subject access to these systems are suggested in this study.

In traditional environment, user must search each journal OPAC, bibliographic DB, and full-text DB and E-Journal separately until user finds scientific and technology informations that he needs. The purpose of this study is to build one-click service system of Journals that supports integrating search. This system provides various functions, such as, journal browsing, journal search, article search, alert function, my library, document delivery service by integrating databases and electronic journals. Users search all information sources through journal OPAC and acquire journal full-text by single interface.

As advanced information technology has been developing rapidly, libraries are moving from an ownership-centered information service toward information access service. Consequently, integrated automation systems of information centers that give not only cataloging information of their own collections but also various electronic information have appeared. In this study, a model of integrated automation system of an information center is suggested in terms of information types and cost, by taking case studies of some domestic and foreign libraries. Furthermore, the MIPOS Information & Resource Center System of POSCO Group is introduced as a good example of integrated automation systems in Korea.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of the integrated search services for integrated libraries operated by local governments in Korea. The target of analysis was integrated libraries operated by 25 local governments in Seoul, and the analysis elements were selected from service functions in 12 areas related to integrated search. The results of the study are as follows. First, the integrated library is an association of public libraries and small libraries in autonomous districts and provides integrated search services. The provided integrated search service function, types of bibliographic information, and facets are not diverse. Second, the records in the search results were mostly item types, not title types. Third, enrichment information supplementing book information consists of book introductions, related information, book-related keywords, and loan-related information. Fourth, integrated search shows the form of integrated OPAC based on integrated catalog DB rather than discovery-type search. It concentrates on providing an integrated search for catalog DBs distributed in public libraries or small libraries in the autonomous district. Fifth, most integrated libraries provide similar service types. Based on these results, improvement plans were proposed for domestic public libraries to expect discovery-type integrated search services.

With frequent use of the internet these days, academic libraries are offering the "Document Delivery Service" through the Internet in our country. The current "Document Delivery Service" utilized over the Internet was researched according to the method used by each library to connect to the internet. and this research, based on each library's current service conditions, service data types, document format of service data, whether the libraries used OPAC for document service or not, and user types. As a result of the research, it was discovered that most of the "Document Delivery Service" is served by website, mainly PDF format, use another interface differs from OPAC, and the personal users in our academic libraries.ers in our academic libraries.
