Cultural Conditions Affecting Gametophyte Propagation and Sporophyte Formation of Lygodium japonicum (Thunb.) Sw. (실고사리의 전엽체 증식 및 포자체 형성에 영향을 미치는 배양조건)

  • 실고사리[Lygodium japonicum (Thunb.) Sw.]는 국내 자생하는 덩굴성 양치식물로 유인재배가 용이하여 실내 외 조경 및 관상소재로 활용이 가능하다. 한방에서는 전초를 해금사초, 포자를 해금사, 뿌리와 지하경을 해금사근이라 약재로 사용한다. 본 연구는 관상 및 약재로 이용이 가능한 실고사리의 대량생산을 위한 기내 외 번식방법을 개발하고자 수행되었다. 식물재료는 경상북도 의성군 일대에서 성체를 수집하여 청주의 일반하우스에 식재하여 성숙한 포자를 채취하였다. 포자를 기내 발아시켜 전엽체를 획득한 다음 8주 간격으로 계대하면서 연구의 재료를 확보하였다. 전엽체의 증식과 생육에 적합한 배지를 비교 하고자, 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2MS배지와 Knop배지를 조성하여 배양하였다. 배양방법은 전엽체 300mg을 메스로 균일하게 다져서 배양하는 방법을 이용하였으며, 배양환경은 온도($25{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$), 광도($30{\pm}1.0{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$), 광주기(16/8h light/dark)로 조절되었다. 연구결과, 모든 처리구의 생체중은 초기접종량 보다 11배 이상 증가하였고, 그 중 1MS배지에서는 전엽체의 생체중이 7.3g으로 가장 많이 증가하였다. 뿐만 아니라, 형태형성도 우수하여 모두 정상적인 전엽체의 형태인 하트형으로 발달이 유도되었다. 전엽체로부터 포자체 형성을 유도하고자, 원예상토, 피트모스, 펄라이트 및 마사토의 혼합비율을 5종류로 달리하여 사각분($7.5{\times}7.5{\times}7.5cm$)에 혼합토양을 충진하였다. 전엽체 1g과 증류수 25mL를 핸드블랜더로 10초간 분쇄하여 사각분의 토양표면에 균일하게 분주하는 방법을 사용하였다. 이후 온도($25{\pm}1.0^{\circ}C$), 광도($43{\pm}2.0{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$), 광주기(16/8h light/dark), 습도($72{\pm}2.0%$)를 유지하면서 10주간 재배되었다. 연구결과, 원예상토 단용, 원예상토와 펄라이트 및 마사토가 2:1(v:v)로 혼합된 토양에서 각 498.0, 402.5, 482.5개의 포자체가 형성되어 사각분 면적대비 7.16개($cm^2$)가 생산되었다. 한편 포자체의 생육은 원예상토와 펄라이트가 2:1(v:v)로 혼합된 토양에서 생체중, 엽장, 엽폭, 근장 및 SPAD value 등이 우수하였다.

An Comparative Study on the Method of Determining Allowable Horizontal Bearing Capacity of Piles (말뚝의 허용횡방향지지력 결정법의 비교연구)

  • Among several methods for determining the allowable lateral resistances of piles, the subgrade reaction method and ultimate lateral resistance method are generally used. To determine the effects of the soil conditions, pile head restraint conditions, and pile lengths on determining the allowable lateral resistances of piles, computations of the allowable lateral resistances of piles using the two methods were executed, and the computation results were compared. For piles in soft cohesive soil, the pile design is governed by the allowable lateral resistance of a pile from subgrade soil reaction method regardless of the pile head restraints conditions and pile lengths. The allowable lateral resistance of a pile from the ultimate lateral resistance governs the design as the undrained shear strength increases. Except for the case of a short pile, which is installed in loose granular soil, the allowable lateral resistance of a pile from ultimate lateral resistance governs the design of laterally loaded piles. According to this study, computation of the ultimate lateral resistance of a pile is needed, even though some opinions suggest that the design of a laterally loaded pile is satisfied only by the subgrade reaction method. The pile width barely influences the coefficient of horizontal subgrade reaction. Realistically, the effect of the pile width can be disregarded in the condition of common pile widths of 20~90cm.

  • Terrestrial magnetism has left traces through residues such as fossils of the terrestrial magnetism as time went by. An analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism is an estimation of dates of archaeological remains where baked earth is exposed by measuring the change of the past terrestrial magnetism through thermo-remnant magnetization of baked earth. This paper attempts to apply an analysis of the archaeological terrestrial magnetism to archaeological remains using fourteen soil samples extracted from a charcoal kiln with side window located at the Area Ⅰ of Maegokdong. The date of A.D.440${\pm}$15 the analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism came up with gives solid evidence, while an archeological chronicle used arrangements of surrounding artifacts because of the absence of remains and assumed uncertainly that a charcoal kiln with side window was from the three kingdom periods. This analysis of archaeological terrestrial magnetism has come to anchor as a main natural scientific analysis because it relatively easily removes pollutants and comes up with highly reliable results owing to its considerably narrow error tolerance of assumed dates.

  • Korean cadastral system is primarily based on the graphical maps, thus, map reproduction by excessive shrinkage or extension, map mishandling and imperfection of surveying techniques have created cadastral non-coincident areas, which caused public distrust as well as considerable difficulties in land administration and policy making. Therefore, in this study, the methodologies for the resolution of the non-coincident problem are presented by means of a comparative analysis between cases of the non-coincident areas. The non-coincidence caused by the mismatch of parcel boundaries can be settled by introducing a coordinate-based system, namely $\ulcorner$Integrated Land Information System$\lrcorner$, meanwhile, those by other reasons can be done by establishing and executing a plan that can deliver the unification of the cadastral and the land registration systems. Governmental intention and budgetary measures for securing the project expenses are essential to make this feasible. If the comprehensive improvement project is completed, the cadastral registers that define the parcel boundary, area and ownership will recover public confidence, which in turn secures land owners' rights by promoting land markets and stabilizing land prices.

Resilient Modulus of Weathered Granite Soil in the Central Part of Korea (화강암풍화토의 동탄성계수에 관한 연구 -중부지역을 중심으로-)

  • Over the years, most pavement designs based on soil strength and permanent strain are almost independent of soil elasticity. However, it was found that plasticity and elasticity of soil have both effected on the failure of pavement structures. The elasticity of soil, hence, using the resilient modulus is reflected for recent pavement design. Although the current AASHTO specifications(1986) for pavement design had changed the soil support value to the resilient modulus, triaxial devices conducting the resilient modulus test have not been fully equipped in a great majority of laboratories. Thus, in the present work, such a resilient modulus is usually derived(from CBR, K values, etc.) by estimating equations. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the resilient modulus of weathered granite soils sampled from 4 points of the central region of Korea by means of AASHTO T 274-82. According to this, some empirical equations for predicting that of the weathered granite soil are proposed and then, the relationship to convert CBR into the resilient modulus is developed.

Development of Soil Binder Using Plant Extracts (식물추출액을 이용한 지반 고결제 개발)

  • This paper presents an environment-friendly sand cementation method by precipitating calcium carbonate using plant extracts. The plant extracts contain urease like $Sporosarcina$ $pasteurii$, which can decompose urea into carbonate ion and ammonium ion. It can cause cementation within sand particles where carbonate ions decomposed from urea combine with calcium ions dissolved from calcium chloride or calcium hydroxide to form calcium carbonate. Plant extracts, urea and calcium chloride or calcium hydroxide were blended and then mixed with Nakdong River sand. The mixed sand was compacted into a cylindrical specimen and cured for 3 days at room temperature ($18^{\circ}C$). Unconfined compression test, SEM and XRD analyses were carried out to evaluate three levels of urea concentration and two different calcium sources. As urea concentration increased, the unconfined compressive strength increased up to 10 times those without plant extracts because calcium carbonate precipitated more, regardless of calcium source. It was also found that the strength of specimen using calcium chloride was higher than that of specimen using calcium hydroxide.

  • This paper presents a new method of soil improvement by using semi-flexible vertical reinforcing elements which shows promise for future work. Load tests were conducted on two model footings in a sand box using unreinforced sand and also by reinforcing the sand with vertical reinforcing elements. The ultimate bearing capacity for the unreinforced and reinforced sand has been compared. The effect of length, spacing, lateral extent of the reinforcement, and the initial relative density of sand in increasing the ultimate bearing capacity have been evaluated. The effect of roughness of the reinforcing elements has also been investigated. Based on the results of these model footing tests, it appears that significant improvement in the ultimate bearing capacity of loose and medium sands can be achieved by reinforcing with vertical elements.

박막 실리콘 태양전지의 도핑층 광손실 제거 기술

  • 박막 실리콘 태양전지에 입사한 빛 중 흡수층인 진성 비정질 실리콘층(i-a-Si)에 흡수된 빛은 출력으로 변환되나, 기타의 층에서 흡수된 빛은 손실 성분이 된다. 이 중 흡수 손실이 큰 층은 도핑 층(p-a-SiC 및 n-a-Si)들인데, 이 들의 흡수 손실을 측정된 광학함수를 이용해 계산해 보면 Fig. 1과 같이 나타난다. p-a-SiC은 광 입사부에 위치하여 단파장 영역의 흡수 손실을 일으키고, n-a-Si 은 태양전지의 후면에 위치하여 장파장 영역의 흡수손실을 일으킨다. 이러한 도핑층에서의 흡수 손실을 제거 또는 개선하기 위해 도핑층의 재료를 기존 재료보다 광학적 밴드갭이 큰 재료로 대체하여 개선하는 방안에 대해 논하고자 한다. 금속 산화물의 밴드갭은 실리콘 화합물에 비하여 대체로 큰 값을 가지기 때문에 이를 기존의 실리콘 화합물 대신으로 사용한다면 광학적 흡수 손실을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다. 단, 이때 태양전지의 광 전압을 결정하는 인자가 p층과 n층 사이의 일함수 차이에 해당하므로, p층의 대체층으로 사용 가능한 금속 산화물은 일함수가 큰(>5 eV) 재료 중에서 선택하는 것이 적합하며, n층의 대체층으로 사용 가능한 금속 산화물은 일함수가 작은(< 4.2 eV) 재료 중에서 선택하는 것이 적합하다. Table 1에서 p층과 n층 대체용 금속산화물의 후보들을 정리하였다. 먼저 도핑층에서의 광 흡수가 광손실이 될 수 밖에 없는 물리적 근거에 대해서 논하고, 그 실험적인 증명을 제시한다. 이러한 개념을 바탕으로 도핑층의 내부 전기장의 방향을 제어하여 전자-정공쌍을 분리 수집하는 방법을 실험적으로 구현하였다. 이어서 금속 산화물을 부분적으로 대체하여 흡수 손실을 개선하는 방안을 제시한다. WOx, NiOx, N doped ZnO 등을 적용하여 그 효과를 비교 검토하였다. 끝으로 금속산화믈 대체 또는 쇼트키 접합을 적용하여 도핑층의 광 흡수를 줄이고 효율을 향상하는 방안을 제시한다. 그 사례로서 WOx, MoOx, LiF/Al의 적용결과를 살펴보고 추가 개선방안에 대해 토의할 것이다. 결론적으로 광학적 밴드갭이 큰 재료를 도핑층 대신 사용하여 흡수 손실을 줄이는 것이 가능하다는 것을 알 수 있고, 이 때 일함수 조건이 만족이 되면 광 전압의 손실도 최소화할 수 있다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 현재까지 연구의 한계와 문제점을 정리하고, 추가 연구에 의한 개선 가능성 및 실용화 개발과의 연관관계 등을 제시할 것이다.

A Tool for Mapping and Measuring Sustainable Capacity Development: Concepts, Methods and Contexts (균형적 능력개발의 매핑 및 측정을 위한 도구 - 개념, 방법론 및 배경 -)

  • The discussion about capacity development (CD) has been spotlighted as significant drivers for sustainable development in recent years. Multi-dimensional natures of capacities would lead to various definitions of CD in international institutes and organizations. CD is perceived as an endogeneous process to improve actionable learning and knowledge, but most of core capacities still remain abstract notion and might be unreliable in sustainable development (SD). The paper first explicates international perspectives of CD in association with SD. An agent-based model is especially proposed to portray more details of CD. It illuminates the role of assets (or capitals, resources) in agents to impact on ingredients of CDs that are drivers or enablers for improvement of SD. A definition of sustainable capacity development is firstly articulated in international society and its conceptual framework is also creatively designed to assist concerned international organizations. The paper concludes by proposing practical spatial asset mapping linking to agent-based organizational capacity as a tool for measuring sustainable capacity development.

Prediction of the Elastic Modulus of Improved Soil Using the Flat TDR System (판형 TDR 시스템을 이용한 개량지반의 탄성계수 예측)

  • This study was conducted to solve the problem such as damage of completed compaction ground using the conventional compaction control method. In this study, a TDR system equipped with a flat type probe has been developed. Also, the Piezoelectric stack, which is an instrument for measuring the elastic wave on the ground, has been added to the developed flat type probe. In this study, the strength variation of reinforced soil with time was determined by using the TDR system. The value of compression and shear modulus increased from 198.65MPa to 541.80MPa and from 125.55MPa to 302.02MPa with time, respectively. Based on the test results, it has been confirmed that the developed TDR system can be used as reinforced effect analysis of soil and compaction control.
