  • 강수의 대표적인 산성 오염물질은 주로 화석연료의 연소 과정에서 발생하는 황산화물과 질소산화물이며 이들을 강한 산성물질로 전환시키는 과정에서 오존, 과산화수소, 과산화물, 탄화수소 등이 크게 기여하고 있다. 이외에도 유기산, MSA 등이 강수의 산성화에 기여하고 있으나 이들의 기여도는 대체적으로 황산화물과 질소산화물에 비해 비교적 낮다. 반면에 암모니아나 토양의 칼슘화합물 등의 염기성 물질들은 강우의 산성 물질을 중화시키는 역할을 하는 것으로 조사되고 있다. 특히 토양입자에 의한 중화과정은 최근 빈번해진 황사의 영향 때문에 조사의 필요성이 크게 부각되고 있다. 퇴적물의 산성화에 따른 우수관 퇴적물의 중금속 용출특성과 존재형태 연구

  • 퇴적물에 오염된 중금속의 지화학적 특성을 규명하고자, 연속추출방법을 이용하여 구성광물 과의 지구화학적 수반관계와 산성화에 따른 중금속 용출특성을 연구하였다. 용출실험과 연속추출 실험을 종합한 연구결과, 서울시 도로변의 하수퇴적물이 산성비와 같은 요인에 의해 pH 5.0정도의 약산성환경과 접촉하였을 때 중금속의 상대적인 용출특성은 Zn>>Cd$\geq$Co>Ni>Cu$\geq$Pb>Cr이며, 원소별 용출량은 Zn 40-90%, Cd 10-30%, Co 15-25%, Ni 5-25%, Cu 0-20%, Pb 0% 및 Cr 0% 이었다. 하수퇴적물에 오염된 Zn, Cd, Cu 및 Ni의 용출은 매우 우려할 만한 수준이며, 수계의 물리화학적 변화(pH 등)에 따라 이들 원소의 일부분이 용해되어 지표수 및 강물을 오염시킬 것으로 예상된다.

Growth of Pinus densiflora Seedlings in Artificially Acidified Soils (인위적인 토양 산성화가 소나무 묘목의 생장에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effects of soil acidification on the growth of 3-year-old Pinus densiflora seedlings grown for 21 weeks in brown forest soils acidified with $H_2SO_4$ solution. The concentrations of Al in the acidified soils were increased with increasing amount of $H^+$ added to the soil. The total dry weight of the seedlings was reduced by the addition of the $H_2SO_4$ solution. In addition, there was a strong positive correlation (r=0.97, p<0.01) between the dry weight of the seedlings and the molar (Ca+Mg+K)/Al ratio of the soil. The seedlings with the molar (Ca+Mg+K)/Al ratio of 1.0 resulted from approximately 50% growth reduction compared with the control value. The results suggest that the molar (Ca+Mg+K)/Al ratio of the soil may be a useful indicator for assessing the critical load of acid deposition.

  • Increased base cation loss and Al mobilization, a consequence of soil acid neutralization responses, are common in air polluted areas showing forest decline. The prediction models of acid neutralization responses were developed by using indicators of soil acidification level(pH, and base saturation) in order to assess the forest soil sensitivity to acidification. The soil acidification level was greatest in Namsan followed by Kanghwa, Ulsan, and Hongcheon, being contrary to regional total $ANC_H$ pattern through soil columns leached with additional acid ($16.7mmol_c\;H^+/kg$), Both base exchange and Al dissolution were main acid neutralization processes in all study regions. There were low base exchange and high Al dissolution in the regions of the low total $ANC_H$. The $ANC_M$ by sulfate adsorption was greatest in Hongcheon compared with other regions even though the AN rate was very low as 6.4%. Coefficients of adjusted determination of simple and multiple regression models between soil acidification level indicators and the acid neutralization responses were more than 0.52(p<0.04) and 0.89(p<0.01), respectively. The result suggests that soil pH and base saturation are available indicators for predicting the acid neutralization responses. These prediction models could be used as an useful method to measure forest soil sensitivity to acidification.

Photosynthetic Activity of Quercus acutissima Seedlings Grown under Artificially Acidified Soil Conditions (토양산성화 조건하에서 생육시킨 상수리나무 묘목의 광합성 활성)

  • The effects of soil acidification on the photosynthetic activity of Quercus acutissima seedlings were investigated. We measured the growth and photosynthetic activity of the seedlings in relation to soil acidification. The dry weights of the seedlings were reduced according to the amount of $H^+$ in the soil. The concentrations of Al in needles at the 90 meq $H^+$ were significantly higher than those at the control. The contents of chlorophyll in needles at 90 meq $H^+$ were significantly lower than those at the control. The net photosynthetic rates of the seedlings in the acidified soil were reduced by increasing the amount of $H^+$ to the soil. The carboxylation efficiencies(CE) of photosynthesis were reduced in the seedlings grown in the acidified soil. These results suggested that the soil acidification induced the inhibition of photochemical reactions and $CO_2$ fixation of photosynthesis.

  • 광산지 및 쓰레기매립지의 오염토양을 정화하는데 식물의 이용가능성을 평가하기 위하여 강원도, 경상북도 지역에 분포하는 17곳의 폐광산과 강원도에 분포하는 농촌형 일반 쓰레기매립지 6곳을 대상으로 광산지와 매립지의 토양 특성을 조사하고, 서식 식물종의 오염 물질 제거 능력과 개척종으로서의 가능성을 평가하였다. 광산지 토양의 경우 산성화가 진행된 곳이 많았고, 중금속함유량도 전국 토양의 평균함유량보다 훨씬 높게 나타났으나, 매립지의 경우 약알카리성 토양이 많았고, 광산지와 달리 중금속 오염의 우려는 없었다. 오염토양에 서식하는 쑥을 포함한 14종의 식물체중에서 오염토양정화기술에 이용 가능한 유용식물로 Aremisia princeps(쑥), Micanthus sinensis(억새), Oenanthera odorata(달맞이 꽃)등이 중금속의 흡수력과 지상부로의 이행력이 큰 식물종으로 나타나 phytoremediation에 있어서 개척종으로 이용가능할 것으로 판단되었다.

The Effect of Soil Acidification on the Distribution of Nutrients and Heavy metals in Forest Ecosystem near Ulsan Industrial Estate (울산(蔚山) 공단주변(工團周邊) 산림토양(山林土壤)의 산성화(酸性化)가 산림생태계(山林生態系)의 양료(養料)와 중금속(重金屬) 분포(分布)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • This study was carried out to investigate the effect of forest soil acidification on the distribution of exchangeable cations($Ca^{2+}$, $Mg^{2+}$, $Al^{3+}$) and heavy metals(Cu, Zn, Mn, Pb, Cd) in soil, and to understand the relation of the soil chemical properties and the distribution of nutrients and hear metals in fine root and foliage. The results through survey on the long - term change of soil pH and the contents of nutrient and heavy metal in soil, fine root and foliage by 2 sites near Ulsan - Onsan industrial estate and 2 sites in limited development district are summarized as follows : 1. The average forest soil pH(A horizon) in Ulsan had been proceeded down to 3.73 in deciduous forest and 3.86 in coniferous forest in 1994 from 4.45 and 4.78 in 1987, respectively, which indicated serious soil acidification. As comparing soil pH among sites, Dongcheon coniferous forest(pH 4.57) in limited development district showed the highest values and Dangwol deciduous forest(pH 3.19) near Onsan industrial estate showed the lowest values in 1994. 2. Contents of exchangeable calcium in forest soils of limited development district where showed much higher soil pH than industrial estate were 3.5 times more in deciduous forest soil and 11 times more in coniferous forest soil than in industrial estate, and contents of exchangeable magnesium were also 4.5 and 5 times more in limited development district than in industrial estate, respectively. However contents of exchangeable aluminium which had been supposed more in forest soil of industrial estate were more in limited development district. 3. Contents of calcium and magnesium in fine root of deciduous trees(A hirsuta. Q. acutissima) were 3.6 and 1.7 times more in limited development district than in industrial estate, respectively, and those of coniferous trees(P. rigida, P. thunbergii) were 4.6 and 1.5 times more in Limited development district than in industrial estate, respectively. Also contents of calcium and magnesium in foliage of deciduous trees were 1.1 and 2.2 times more in limited development district than in industrial estate, respectively, and those of coniferous trees were 1.8 and 3.3 times more in limited development district, respectively. And contents of aluminium in fine root and foliage were nearly as same as in soil. 4. Ca/Al molar ratios in soil and fine root, which could be related with the dgree of soil acidification and Al toxicity on trees, were Less than 1 in all sites except Dongcheon, suggesting that the soil and fine root in the sites have high sensitivity to soil acidification and the decrease in nutrient uptake and root enlargement. The Ca/Al molar ratios in soil and fine root in coniferous forest were highly correlated with the soil pH one another. 5. Contents of Cu, Zn and Pb in soil, fine root and foliage were more in industrial estate than in limited development district in both deciduous and coniferous forests, however, oppositely contents of Mn and Cd in soil were more in limited development district than in industrial estate.

Effect of Acid Deposition on the Acidification of Surface Water I : A Field Study (산성강하물이 지표수의 산성화에 미치는 영향 I: 현장 조사)

  • Effects of acid deposition on the acidification of surface water over a short term period were studied during June~October, 1995. A reservoir located in Chunchon, Kangwondo was selected for this study because this reservoir had received little man-made pollutants. Geological survey within the study area was carried out and the pH of a small and shallow stream flowing from the mountain valley down to the reservoir was monitored. Rainfall was measured by using a rain gauge and the precipitation was collected by automatic precipitation sampler. During the study period, rain pH was in the range of 3.81~5.77 with an average of 4.8. The EC was in the range of 5~189$\mu$S/cm with an average of 10.6$\mu$S/cm. ionic composition of the rainfall showed that of the anions, deposition of ${SO_4}^{2-}$, was highest with 3,119.7 kg/$\textrm{km}^2$, and it was $NH^{4+}$ with 1,053.2kg/$\textrm{km}^2$ for cations. The surface water pHs were maintained neutral or weak basic representing little evidence of acidification regardless of the acidic rainfall pH. Every time of sampling, however, the pHs exhibited increasing tendency as elevation of measuring site of the stream became lowered, which indicated the impacts of acid-base reactions by acidic or basic substances during travel of water downstream. This result suggested the necessity of further research to determine the respective buffering capacity of soil and underlying rocks.

계분의 발효처리

  • 화학비료에 의존한 경작으로 점차 토양은 산성화되고 지력의 저하가 경종농업분야에서 큰문제로 대두되고 있으며 한편에서는 계분의 처리문제로 양계농가의 어려움을 더해가고 있다. 계분을 효율적으로 발효처리한다면 양계농가의 골치거리를 해결할 뿐만 아니라 돈(금)으로 바꿔 경영에 보탬이 되고 국토의 지력상승면에서도 큰 기여를 할 수 있을 것이다. 계분발효의 원리와 방법을 제시한다.
