In recent years, debris flow disaster has occurred in multiple locations between high and low mountainous areas simultaneously with a flooding disaster in urban areas caused by heavy and torrential rainfall due to the changing global climate and environment. As a result, these disasters frequently lead to large-scale destruction of infrastructures or individual properties and cause psychological harm or human death. In order to mitigate these disasters more effectively, it is necessary to investigate what causes the damage with an integrated model of both disasters at once. The objectives of this study are to analyze the mechanism of debris flow for real basin, to determine the PMP and run-off discharge due to the DAD analysis, and to estimate the influence range of debris flow for fan area according to the scenario. To analyse the characteristics of debris flow at the real basin, the parameters such as the deposition pattern, deposit thickness, approaching velocity, occurrence of sediment volume and travel length are estimated from DAD analysis. As a results, the peak time precipitation is estimated by 135 mm/hr as torrential rainfall and maximum total amount of rainfall is estimated by 544 mm as typhoon related rainfall.

이에 본 연구에서는 지상LiDAR를 활용하여 고정밀도 DEM(Digital Elevation Model)을 구축하였다.

The shallow landslide-trigerred debris flow in hillslope catchments is the primary geological phenomenon that drives landscape changes and therefore imposes risks as a natural hazard. In particular, debris flows occurring in urban areas can result to substantial damages to properties and human injuries during the flow and sediment transport process. To alleviate the damages as a result of these debris flow, analytical models for flow and damage prediction are of significant importance. However, the analysis of debris flow model parameters is not yet sufficient, and the analysis of the entrainment, which has a significant influence on the flow process and the damage extent, is still incomplete. In this study, the effects of erosion and erosion process on the flow and the impact area due to the change in the soil parameters are analyzed using Deb2D model, a flow analysis model of debris developed in Korea. The research is conducted for the case of the Mt. Umyeon landslide in 2011. The resulting impacted area, total debris-flow volume, maximum velocity and inundated depth from the Erosion model are compared to the field survey data. Also, the effect of the entrainment changing parameters is analyzed through the erosion shape and depth. The debris flow simulation for the Raemian and Shindong apartment catchment with the consideration of entrainment effect and erosion has been successful. Each parameter sensitivity could be analyzed through sensitivity analysis for the two basins based on the change in parameters, which indicates the necessity of parameter estimation.

Debris flows occur in mountainous areas due to heavy rains resulting from climate change and result in disasters in the downstream area. The purpose of this study is to estimate the impact force of a debris flow when a check dam according is installed in various locations in the channel of a highly mountainous area. A Finite Differential Element Method (FDM) model was used to simulate the erosion and deposition based on the equation for the mass conservation and momentum conservation while considering the continuity of the fluid. The peak impact force from the debris flow occurred at 0 to 5 sec and 15 to 20 sec. When the supplied water discharge was increased, greater peak impact force was generated at 16 to 19 sec. This means that when increasing the water supply, the velocity of the debris flow became faster, which results in increased energy of the consolidation between the particles of the water and the sediment made. If a number of check dams were to be set up, it would be necessary to investigate the impact force at each location of the check dam. The results of this study could provide useful information in predicting the impact force of the debris flow and in installing the check dams in appropriate locations.

Recently, because of increasing in downpour and typhoon, which are caused by climate changes, those sedimentation disasters, such as landslide and debris flow, have become frequent. Those sedimentation disasters take place in natural slope. In order to predict debris flow damage range within wide area, the response model is more appropriate than numerical analysis. However, to make a prediction using Random Walk Model, the regional parameters is needed to be decided, since the regional environments conditions are not always same. This random Walk Model is a probability model with easy calculation method, and simplified slope factor. The objective of this study is to calculate the optimal parameters of Random Walk Model for Umyeon mountain in Seoul, where the large debris flow has occurred in 2011. Debris flow initiation zones and sedimentation zones were extracted through field survey, aerial photograph and visual reading of debris flow before and after its occurrence via LiDAR DEM.

The 2011 debris flow in Mt. Umyeonsan in Seoul, South Korea caused significant damages to the surrounding urban area, unlike other similar incidents reported to have occurred in the past in the country's mountainous regions. Accordingly, landslides and debris flows cause damage in various surroundings, regardless of mountainous area and urban area, at a great speed and with enormous impact. Hence, many researchers attempted to forecast the extent of impact of debris flows to help minimize the damage. The most fundamental part in forecasting the impact extent of debris flow is to understand the debris flow behavior and sedimentation mechanism in complex three-dimensional topography. To understand sedimentation mechanism, in particular, it is necessary to calculate the amount of energy and erosion according to debris flow behavior. The previously developed debris flow models, however, are limited in their ability to calculate the erosion amount of debris flow. This study calculated the extent of damage caused by a massive debris flow that occurred in 2011 in Seoul's urban area adjacent to Mt. Umyeonsan by using DEM, created from aerial photography and airborne LiDAR data, for both before and after the damage; and developed and compared a debris flow behavioral analysis model that can assess the amount of erosion based on energy theory. In addition, simulations using the existing debris flow model (RWM, Debris 2D) and a comprehensive comparison of debris flow-stricken areas were performed in the same study area.

Abandoned mines often cause environmental problems, such as alteration of landscape, metal contamination, and landslides due to a heavy rainfall. Geotechnical and rheological tests were performed on waste materials corrected from Imgi waste rock dump, located in Busan Metropolitan City. Debris flow mobility was examined with the help of 1-D BING model which was often simulated in both subaerial and subaqueous environments. To determine flow curve, we used a vane-penetrated rheometer. The shear stress (${\tau}$)-shear rate (${\dot{\gamma}}$) and viscosity(${\eta}$)-shear rate (${\dot{\gamma}}$) relationships were plotted using a shear stress control mode. Well-known rheological models, such as Bingham, bilinear, Herschel-Bulkley, Power-law, and Papanastasiou concepts, were compared to the rheological data. From the test results, we found that the tested waste materials exhibited a typical shear shinning behavior in ${\tau}$-${\dot{\gamma}}$ and and ${\eta}$-${\dot{\gamma}}$ plots, but the Bingham behavior is often observed when the water contents increased. The test results show that experimental data are in good agreement with rheological models in the post-failure stage during shearing. Based on the rheological properties (i.e., Bingham yield stress and viscosity as a function of the volumetric concentration of sediment) of waste materials, initial flowing shape (5 m, 10 m, and 15 m) and yield stress (100 Pa, 200 Pa, 300 Pa, and 500 Pa) were input to simulate the debris flow motion. As a result, the runout distance and front velocity of debris flow are in inverse propositional to yield stress. In particular, when the yield stress is less than 500 Pa, most of failed masses can flow into the stream, resulting in a water contamination.
We use small-scale modelling to estimate the impact ofrce of debris flows on erosion control dams (ECD) and ring nets. The results indicate that the viscoelastic debris flows produced impact forces of 4.14, 3.66, 1.66 kN from the bottom to the top of the ECD. Ring net tests produced a similar trend with generally smaller impact forces (2.28, 1.95, and 1.49 kN). Numerical analysis showed that the weight of the ECD (e.g., concrete retaining walls) provided resistance against the debris flow, whereas deformation of the ring net by elastic-elongation and aggregate penetration reduced the impact force by up to 45% compared with that of the ECD.
