  • Saussurea grandicapitulata, a new species of Saussurea, was repodrted in the Taebaek Mountains. It has peculiar morphological characters, easily distinguisable from other Saussurea in Korea and Japan; robust plant size, pale green leaf beneath, purplish brown-cobwebby hairs on petioles of radical and lower cauline leaves, few heads with not so long pedicel, big globose involucres with brown-cobwebby hairs, and often recurved long phyllaries. S. grandicapitula is an endemic species to Korea which was differentiated in consequence of adaptation to heavy snowy environment of the Taebaek Mountains.

  • Rhododendron keiskei Miq. var. hypoglaucum Suto & Suzuki (Ericaceae) was found in Yeosu-si, Jeollanam-do, Korea. This species is distinguished from related taxa in Korea by lepidote hairs entire, flower-bud terminal, inflorescences umbel-like racemes, corolla lepidot outside, white tinged with yellow. This taxon was named 'Seom-Jin-Dal-Lae' in Korean based on its habitat. We provide its description, illustrations, photographs and a key of related taxa in Korea.

  • The general morphological characters of Lysimchia sect. Spicatae were reviewed. From the results, numerical analyses were conducted based on 34 morphological characters from 14 populations of three species in Korea in order to investigate the key characters among the treated taxa and taxonomic delimitation and to discuss the systematic relationship. Habitat, leaf apices, presence or absent of hair on leaves, stipules, stems and bracts, branch of stems, kind of hair on floral axis and pedicels, shape of florescens were important diagnostic characters to identify the species. The relationship between Lysimachia clethoides and L. barystachys was more close than that of L. fortunei based on the quantitative characters. Also, a new key was made up from the result.

  • Talipariti simile (Blume) Fryxell, Malvaceae is reported as new record from Vietnam. The plant can be differentiated from its allied species T. macrophyllum (Roxb. ex Hornem.) Fryxell in having glabrescent stems with purplish and smaller hairs, lanceolate-oblong and smaller stipules and ovoid capsules which are devoid of apicule or beaks. Taxonomic description, line drawing and color photographs have been provided to add to the species identification. Furthermore, comparison of the diagnostic characters between this species and the above mentioned related species is made.

  • A new species, Daphne jejudoensis M. Kim, has been named and described from Seonheul, Jejudo Province, Korea. Daphne jejudoensis shares several characteristics (white calyx colors, long calyx tube, evergreen leaves, leathery leaf textures, etc.) with its related species D. kiusiana, but it is distinct from D. kiusiana which has a hairy calyx tube and lobes, short calyx lobes, oblanceolate leaves (with acute apex), and a different distribution (coastal region in Geojedo Is.) by having a glabrous calyx tube and lobes, long calyx lobes, elliptic leaves (with acuminate apex), and by its distribution (inland region in Jejudo Is.).

  • A newly recorded species, Fimbristylis hookeriana Boeckeler, was found in Gyema-ri, Hongnongeup, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do and Munyeo-do Is., Gunsan-si, Jeollabuk-do, Korea. Fimbristylis hookeriana is closely related to F. dichotoma, which has ovoid spikelets, deciduous scales, pubescent culms, and short style. However, this species is distinguished by very narrowly ovoid spikelets, persistent scales, glabrous culms, and long style. We propose a new Korean name, 'Ba-Wi-Ha-Neul-Ji-Gi', meaning that this inhabits on dried rocks near seashore. Redescription, illustrations, photographs, table, and a key to species of the Fimbristylis Vahl in Korea are provided.
