  • There are screw, reciprocating and turbo compressor by structure in an air compressor, essential equipment on he industrial spot. Resently it is wide that the range of turbo compressor's use in gradual, turbo compressor needs high speed rotation of impeller in structure, high rated gearbox and conventional induction motor. This mechanical system increased the moment of inertia and mechanical friction loss. Resently the study of turbo compressor applied super high speed motor and drive, removing gearbox made its size small and mechanical friction loss minimum. In this study we tried to develope variable super high speed motor drive systems for 150Hp, 70,000rpm drect drive Turbo compressor. The result of study is applied to a 150Hp direct turbo compressor and makes it goods.

  • High performance turbo compressor, Turbo Master, was successfully developed by applying combined technology and experience based on aero gas turbine engines. The Turbo Master, developed using our own technology, was designed for high performance and reliability And the Turbo Master will supply absolutely oil-free compressed air to your facilities. In special, a next-generation micro compressor was lately developed, using air foil bearing and high speed motor known as the latest high technology.

  • This paper performed a numerical study to analyse the transient performance behavior of a turbofan engine with variable inlet guide vane (IGV) and bleed air schedules. The low bypass ratio mixed flow turbofan engine was considered in this study. For modeling the compressor performance with IGV, the performance maps were generated by using a one-dimensional meanline analysis and feed to the engine simulation program. The IGV and bleed air according to the rotating speed were scheduled to satisfy 10% of surge margin at steady-state condition. The transient engine performance analysis was conducted with the schedules. The engine with IGV schedule showed a higher surge margin and lower turbine inlet temperature than the engine with bleed air schedule during the transient period.

  • A dynamic model of turbo air compressor having multi-helical gear pairs is developed by transfer matrix method. The model accounts for the shaft and bearing flexibilities, gyroscopic effects and the force couplings among the transverse, torsion, and axial motions due to gearing. The program which can be used to analyze and predict the vibrational characteristics by the mass unbalance of the rotors and gear transmission error of turbo compressor is developed with this system model We expect this developed program to contribute the reduction of the vibration/noise on turbo compressor in the field of both design and manufacturing and can be used as a basic sub-program for CAD/CAM of low-noised gear teeth also.

  • Oil-free turbo-compressor supported by compliant foil bearings which remove oil-contamination by elimination of the conventional ball bearing and oil lubrication systems is presented. Turbo-compressor makes two individual air compression with two impellers at operating speed, 39,000rpm. In this study, the rotordynamic effects caused by aerodynamic instability were investigated with variable mass flow rate. Correlation between frequencies of pressure fluctuation in two diffusers and those of excitation forces on rotor were clearly developed in aerodynamic unsteady region. Thus, these results show that it is beneficial to design high speed rotating turbomachinery considering coupling effect between aerodynamic instability and rotordynamic force.

  • This study presents an aerodynamic design and an experimental performance test of a turbo air compressor consisted of mixed-flow impeller and curved diffuser for the PEM fuel cell vehicle application. Many studies compare the efficiency, cost or noise level of high-pressure and low-pressure operation of PEM fuel cell systems. Pressure ratio 2.2:1 is considered as design target The goal of compressor design is to enlarge the flow margin of compressor from surge to choke mass flow rate to cover the operational envelope of FCV. Large-scale rig test is performed to evaluate the compressor performance and to compare the effects of compressor exit pipe volume to stall or surge characteristics. The results show that the mixed-flow compressor designed has large flow margin, and the flow margin of compressor configuration with small exit volume is larger than that with large exit volume.
