  • A multiple input multiple output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system using low-density parity-check (LDPC) code and iterative decoding is presented. The iterative decoding is performed by combining the zero-forcing technique and LDPC decoding through the use of the 'turbo principle.' The proposed system is shown to be effective with high order modulation and outperforms the space frequency block code (SFBC) method with iterative decoding.

  • In this paper, it proposes an efficient iterative stopping rules using absolute mean values for the LLR difference values between the first and second decoder in the present decoding process. It is verifying that the proposal algorithm can be reduced the average number of iterations compared to conventional scheme with a negligible degradation of the error performance.

  • The wireless communication based on LDPC and adaptive spatial-subcarrier coded modulation using MQAM for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) wireless transmission by using instantaneous channel state information and employing multiple antennas at both the transmitter and the receiver. Adaptive coded modulation is a promising idea for bandwidth-efficient transmission on time-varying, narrowband wireless channels. On power limited Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channels, low density parity check (LDPC) codes are a class of error control codes which have demonstrated impressive error correcting qualities, under some conditions performing even better than turbo codes. The paper demonstrates OFDM with LDPC and adaptive modulation applied to Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. An optimization algorithm to obtain a bit and power allocation for each subcarrier assuming instantaneous channel knowledge is used. The experimental results are shown the potential of our proposed system.

  • In decoding the turbo codes, the sliding window BCJR algorthm, derived from the BCJR algorithm, permits a continuous decoding of the coded sequence without requiring trellis fermination of the constituent codes and uses reduced memory span. However, the number of computation required is greater than that of BCJR algorithm and no study on the effect of the window length has been reported. In this paper, we propose an eddicient sliding window type scheme which maintains the advantages of the conventional sliding window algorithm, reduces its computational burdens, and improves is BER performance. A guideline is first presented to determine the proper window length and then a computationally efficient sliding window BCJR algorithm is obtained by allowing the window to be forwarded in multi-step. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional sliding window BCJR algorithm with reduced complexity. It gains 0.1dB SNR improvements over the conventional method for the constraint length 3 and BER $10^{-4}$

  • Two implementation methods for SOVA (Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm)of Turbo decoder are applied and verfied. The first method is the combination of a trace back (TB) logic for the survivor state and a double trace back logic for the weight value in two-step SOVA. This architecure of two-setp SOVA decoder allows important savings in area and high-speed processing compared with that of one-step SOVA decoding using register exchange (RE) or trace-back (TB) method. Second method is adjusting the reliability value with a scaling factor between 0.25 and 0.33 in order to compensate for the distortion for a rate 1/3 and 8-state SOVA decoder with a 256-bit frame size. The proposed schemes contributed to higher SNR performance by 2dB at the BER 10E-4 than that of SOVA decoder without a scaling factor. In order to verify the suggested schemes, the SOVA decoder is testd using Xillinx XCV 1000E FPGA, which runs at 33.6MHz of the maximum speed with 845 latencies and it features 175K gates in the case of 256-bit frame size.

  • The study analyzes Non SEMAC and SEMAC to reduce susceptibility artifacts that may occur when performing magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) of metal patients. The Foot and Ankle Phantom was used as the experimental tool and the 3.8 cm general screw was used to make the magnetic susceptibility artifact. The experimental equipment was used 3.0T Magnetom Skyra and the area was measured with the 17th image where the signal off is the most noticeable in the obtained image. Statistical analysis was performed using the SPSS(Ver.25) program and the significance was assessed by the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. As a result, the area of Non SEMAC which is the lowest signal was $289.53{\pm}23.07197mm$. When the Turbo Factor was changed to 3, 4, and 5 after SEMAC use, it decreased to $125.02{\pm}7.45875mm$, $120.96{\pm}12.01704mm$ and $108.79{\pm}16.53498mm$, respectively. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Using SEMAC with Turbo Factor effectively reduces the susceptibility artifacts.

  • In this paper, we describe DSSS transceiver development robust to jamming signals as an investigation of ECCM transceiver for UAV uplink. The jamming margin is 15dB or greater with the development target of transceiver because the jamming margin is more important than the transmission rate of data and the spreading code can be changeable. The rake receiver is applied to combine multipath components and turbo code which the coding gain is 7.2dB as a FEC. In this paper, the whole structure, design method and functional test result about the designed modem are described and a conclusion is made.

  • This paper describes the development of the telemetry link system for the high data rate transmission in high speed rocket application. In consideration of bandwidth efficiency, frequency selective fading and doppler frequency offset, we used DQPSK instead of PCM/FM which has been the primary modulation format in aeronautical telemetry. Also we used the spatial diversity with multiple receiving antennas to mitigate multipath interference which is the dominant channel impairment and the Turbo Product Code for Forward Error Correction to improve bit error rate performance.

  • In this paper, the target FER is derived to achieve the maximum throughput in H-ARQ scheme where the FEC and ARQ are properly combined and proved through the simulation. In numerical analysis, The average upper bound on the FER(Frame Error Rate) of turbo code is derived and the throughput is expressed in terms of this bound. Then, the throughput is differentiated with respect to the FER and the optimal target PER is achieved. As a result of analysisw, the throughput is maximized at the target FER of 6% whereas the target PER is set to 5% in the current 3GPP2 specification.
