The Real Scale Fire Test in Tunnel for Fire Detector Performance Evaluation (터널에서의 화재 감지기 성능 평가를 위한 실물화재실험)

  • 본 연구에서는 터널 내부에서의 화재 사고 시 화재를 자동으로 조기 발견 경보하여 화재 초기에 대응력을 확보시킬 수 있게 하는 화재 감지기의 성능 평가를 위해 터널 내부에서의 실물 화재 실험을 실시하였다. 실물화재실험은 일반적으로 도로 터널에 적용 중인 공기관식, 반도체식 감지기를 대상으로 "도로터널 방재시설 설치지침(2004, 건설교통부)"의 터널 내부의 화재 감지기 성능 실험 기준에 따라 메탄올을 이용한 풀버너와 소형 승용차를 이용하였다. 실험결과 메탄을 풀화재(단면적 $4m^2$)의 경우 약 36초 안에 모두 화재를 감지하였으며, 실물자동차화재실험의 경우는 1분 이내에 모두 화재를 감지하는 결과를 나타내었다.

A Study on the Contents for Operation of Tunnel Management Systems Using a View Synthesis Technology (영상정합 기술을 활용한 터널관리시스템의 운영 효율성 제고를 위한 콘텐츠 연구)

  • In South Korea, there are a large number of tunnels because of the mountainous terrain, and to overcome this characteristics, lengths of tunnels are more longer than existing tunnels. The need to improvement current tunnel management contents is giving rise for accidents in tunnel section is continuously increased although lots of efforts to reduce the accidents. Conventionally, disaster prevention have been focused on the Tunnel Management Systems, tunnel operators generally tend to depend on CCTV images for most contents of detailed traffic flow managing. In this paper, investigation about current Tunnel Management Systems contents using IPA survey was conducted, and Priority Improvement Contents(Accident Situation Management Support, 2nd Accident Management Support, Traffic Flow Monitoring), which importance are high, but satisfaction are low, are deducted. Also, CCTV images, lack intuitive understanding, are judged as a main cause of low satisfaction of those contents. To overcome those limitations of the existing Tunnel Management Systems, this study sought to develop a technology for the synthesis of road images to derive traffic information from synthesis images, and the contents improvement stragegy is established. Tunnel operators-oriented satisfaction survey on new contents was carried out, and scored 4.2 on a 5-point scale. This has confirmed that the availability of new contents and at this stage, with pushing ahead of long-tunnels and undersea tunnels construction, politic applications are expected.

The study on the operation of fire fighting vehicle for a long railway tunnel (장대터널용 소방차량의 운용에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we investigated the operation of railroad fire fighting vehicles against fires on trains in a long railway tunnel. In recent years, long railway tunnels (more than 10 km in length) have been built and the number of such tunnels, such as the Geumjeong tunnel (20.3 km in length) on the Gyeongbu high speed line, Solan tunnel (16.7 km in length) on the Yeongdong line and Yulhyeon tunnel (50.3 km in length) on the Suseo high speed line which is scheduled to be opened in the second half of 2016, is increasing. Significant damage is to be expected, due to the increased evacuation time and limited accessibility of fire services when the train is stopped by an urgent fire in the tunnel. Special fire fighting vehicles capable of running on rails have been developed and operated in overseas advanced countries. Therefore, a fire-response system using Unimog vehicles, which can run on road and rail, instead of road vehicles, is necessary. The characteristics of the railway tunnel and thermal environmental change caused by a train fire in a tunnel were analyzed in this study. Also, the operational requirements of the railroad fire fighting vehicles were evaluated by taking into account the specifications of the railroad fire fighting vehicles under development.

Mechanism Analysis of Tunnel Collapse in Weak Ground (미고결 지반에서의 터널붕락 메커니즘 분석)

  • Despite the recent improvement in tunnel excavation technique, Tunnel collapse accidents still happen. This paper suggest two typical cases in unconsolidated ground condition. Collapse causes of each case were analyzed by the measurement records and numerical simulation, and then mechanism of tunnel collapse was investigated about each case. From this study, the crucial indicators of tunnel collapse were the variation of shear strain and ground water level, also, tunnel collapse deeply related to how shear deformation around tunnel was developed according to the excavation step.

소단면 터널에서 에멀젼폭약의 사압현상과 대책

  • 국책사업이나 SOC의 확충을 위한 도로 및 철도의 건설에서 적용되는 터널의 단면크기를 보면, $50m^2$에서부터 $100m^2$이상의 중 대단면 터널이 주를 이루고 있으나, 전력구, 통신구, 소규모로 운영되는 광산의 채광용 터널, 용수를 위한 도수로터널 등 특수한 용도로 설계, 시공되고 있는 터널에서는 $20m^2$이하의 단면크기를 갖는 경우가 있다. 이러한 소단면 터널의 경우에는 협소한 작업공간으로 인하여 적용공법 뿐만 아니라 장비의 사용 또한 제약을 받게 되어 작업효율이 저하되고 공사기간이 늘어나게 되는 등 여러 가지 문제점을 안고 있다. 특히, 에멀젼 폭약을 사용하는 발파에서 먼저 기폭된 발파공의 충격압력에 의해 인접공의 폭약이 예비압축(Precompression)되어 사압현상을 일으키고 잔류약을 발생시키는 사례가 종종 발생하고 있다. 사압현상은 당해 발파의 실패와 함께 2차적인 사고의 위험요인이 될 수 있으므로 이를 방지하기 위한 대책을 수립하여야 한다. 이를 위해 기존 문헌을 통하여 사압현상의 원인과 발생 가능성을 검토하였고, 국내에서 주로 사용되는 에멀전폭약의 수중 내충격성시험과 충격압력 전달시험을 실시하여 사압현상의 발생정도를 측정하였으며, 사압현상이 발생한 소단면 터널현장을 대상으로 대책을 수립하여 적용하였다. 심발방법을 변경하여 전단의 충격압력을 견딜 수 있는 공간격을 확보하고 뇌관의 초시간격을 적절하게 배치한 발파패턴을 적용한결과, 사압현상을 억제하고 잔류약의 발생을 감소시켜 계획 굴진장을 확보하고 파쇄석의 크기를 감소시키는 등 양호한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

Design Guideline for Spacing between Tunnel and Interchange (터널과 인터체인지 이격거리 설계기준에 관한 연구)

  • Where an interchange is located just after a tunnel not only it is impossible to install the traffic signs in tunnel sections but also sufficient sight distance to identify the interchange can't be provided. The objective of this study is to suggest the safety based spacing between tunnel and interchange. For this study accident rate was used as an index representing characteristics for vehicle operation to suggest the appropriate spacing. Traffic volume and the number of accidents on freeway from 1992 to 1997 were analyzed. The relationship between accident rate and spacing represents negative logarithm function such that shorter spacing increases accident rate. An appropriate safety based spacing between tunnel and interchange for four lane freeway with the design speed of 100kph was found as 2.6km.

The study on performance evaluation of heat resistance and smoke control system using air-curtain system in tunnel (터널용 에어커튼 시스템의 내열 및 제연 성능 평가 연구)

  • Tunnel is a semi-closed structure similar to underground space where the smoke generated from fire fills the space fast while escaping from the space slow. Because of such characteristics, when the fire breaks out by traffic accident, the vehicles are jammed making it difficult for the people to evacuate from the scene as well as for the fire engine to gain access to the scene. For such reasons, tunnels are globally categorized into some disaster classes for differentiated facilities and operation approaches. In Korea, less than a 1 km-long tunnel accounts for 80.0% and such a short tunnel which is categorized into Class III is not required to have smoke control system. In this study, a full-scale fire test was conducted in a bid to apply air curtain system using heat-resistant sirocco fan to a less than 1 km-long tunnel. To that end, heat resistance test to verify the normal operation at $250^{\circ}C$ for 60 minutes was conducted. Consequently, despite of rapid rising-temperature and increasing-carbon dioxide inside the air curtain (direction of fire in tunnel), initial condition was found to have been sustained outside the air curtain (opposite direction of fire in tunnel).

  • At present automated speed enforcement system in Korea control overspeed vehicle only in the specific spot. Because the drivers generally recognize the previous stated fact, they reduce a speed only in the establishment location of systems and increase rapidly again as soon as it passes the location. we have known that the rate of traffic risk at the tunnel, bridge and curve road segment is higher than other road section. Therefore, it needs speed control in them. In such a case, it is necessary to establish the automated traffic enforcement system based on the travel time speed of an individual vehicle over a pre defined stretch of road. In this study, the application limit of existing spot overspeed enforcement system was studied through an analysis of traffic flow characteristics in the tunnel, bridge and curve section. Also we found out the optimal distance of segment and the most suitable location to an application of the overspeed vehicle by travel time speed through an analysis of the road structure, traffic condition and accident numbers in the road.
